Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1372: Chapter 1373: Just Accept What’s Given to You

Since she and Qi Taiguo had both agreed not to accept this grand gift, the next day, while having morning tea with Old Master Cheng, Cheng Su waited for the right moment when the old man and Old Master Ning were enthusiastically talking. She excused herself on the pretext of discussing business matters with her older brothers and took them to another room to talk.

The two brothers were clueless until Cheng Su took out the leather bag. After they saw what was inside, they were momentarily stunned.

”Qi Taiguo and I have discussed it. This gift is too extravagant, and we cannot accept it,” Cheng Su said. ”I understand Old Master’s intentions, and I will be as filial to him as a biological daughter in the future. As for the gift, there’s no need for it. Big Brother and Second Brother, please take it back. Qi Taiguo and I are still young, and we can earn these things ourselves.”

Cheng Yaoguang and his second brother exchanged a glance. Both were experienced and worldly, and from her expression alone, they knew she was sincere and not playing hard to get.

Cheng Yaozong said, ”Little Su, you should know that having these would provide you security. If you want to do business in the future, it’s a considerable amount of startup capital.”

”I know. But Second Brother, a gentleman loves wealth but acquires it ethically. I’m not in a hurry to develop; I like to proceed steadily. I believe that as long as my fate isn’t too bad, I’ll surely earn more than just a piece of land and a house in the future,” Cheng Su said with a light smile. ”But for this, I will need my brothers’ timely support!”

Joking aside, since she had acknowledged the family connection, it was okay not to accept the grand gifts, but how could she not use this network? She wasn’t that pretentious.

The two brothers exchanged another glance and both showed a relieved smile. Only now did they truly hold Cheng Su in high regard.

Faced with such a great gift, she wasn’t the least bit greedy, showing her character and broad perspective—not someone petty and greedy.

Such a person wouldn’t have a narrow view either.

Cheng Yaoguang pushed the leather bag back.

Cheng Su was taken aback.

”Since it’s from Old Master, you should keep it!” Cheng Yaoguang said. ”In fact, none of us know what recognition gift Old Master prepared for you. He handled it himself, with his personal funds. With his age, he’s entitled to give his personal money to whoever he wants, and we have no objections.”

”Exactly!” Cheng Yaozong also said with a smile, ”Little sister, you have the advantage of being a daughter. Our Cheng family, aside from daughters-in-law, has no girls. You’re the first. Old Master cherishes you, which is why he prepared these for you. As for the house, it’s the same. It’s so close to home, most likely so you can come often and not have to stay at a hotel.”

Cheng Su frowned and said, ”I understand, I can always buy more in the future!”

”Just keep it!” Cheng Yaoguang said. ”If Old Master finds out you returned it to us, we might not even be allowed into the big house.”

Cheng Su hesitated, ”Family members...”

”There are only a few people in the family who come and go. It’s Old Master’s intention, and no one has the right to object. Besides, the Cheng family doesn’t lack the money for this house and land,” Cheng Yaoguang said confidently.

Seeing their insistence, Cheng Su thought about it and said, ”Alright then! I will live in the house, and as for the land, it isn’t valuable right now. When real estate becomes hot in a few years, selling it will be the same. In Old Master’s name, I will set up a charity fund dedicated to orphans’ welfare.”

Cheng Yaoguang and the others were slightly surprised and said, ”It’s your land. You can do whatever you want with it.”

Cheng Yaozong, however, squinted slightly upon hearing her words, ”Judging by your earlier words, it seems you think real estate will become a hot market?”

Cheng Su pursed her lips and asked, ”Second Brother, do you want the Cheng family to become enormously wealthy?”
