Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1359: Chapter 1360: Memories Stirred by the Scene

Seeing the old master in tears, everyone was taken aback and hurriedly stepped forward to console him.

Cheng Su stood there at a loss, her face showing some apprehension. She had hesitated, fearing the old master might be overcome with emotion, and now it seemed her worry was justified.

”Old Master, I...” Cheng Su wanted to take the porcelain figure back.

”What’s the matter?” Old Master Cheng turned his face away, wiped the corner of his eye, and said with a smile, ”You child, once a gift is given, you can’t take it back, you know?”

”But...”

Old Master Cheng laughed, ”It’s alright, it’s alright. As I get older, my emotions get shallower. This gift is wonderful, truly wonderful. I’m very pleased and fond of it. Su Girl, you’re very thoughtful!”

”Dad, you really scared everyone for a moment. Look at little Su, she’s scared to the point of tears, thinking you were upset with her.” Cheng Yaozong stepped forward.

”How could I be upset with her? I was just too overjoyed!” Old Master Cheng sat down, placing the pair of porcelain figures in front of him, and said, ”You don’t know, my sister and I never had a commemorative photo taken together our entire lives. Back then, I was going to war and thought about taking one but never got the chance. Later, after my sister passed, she couldn’t be found, and even more so, no photo was taken!”

He gently stroked the face of the little girl figure and said, ”So many years have passed in the blink of an eye, and seeing this porcelain figure, it feels as if my sister and I are standing together again!”

There was a hint of desolation in his voice, and Cheng Su quickly said, ”Old Master, I made this pair of porcelain figures for you as a keepsake. It’s my fault for stirring up memories. If you like, I can prepare another gift for you!”

As she said this, she reached for the porcelain figures.

Unexpectedly, as soon as she reached out, Old Master Cheng smacked her hand and deliberately put on a stern face, saying, ”Once a gift is given, you can’t take it back, you know? I want nothing else; this is perfect!” He paused and added, ”After all this searching, not knowing if she’s still around, looking at this as a memento is good, as if she never left!”

Cheng Su said, ”Please don’t be sad! Today is your special day, and I’ve caused such a mess!”

”Scared you, didn’t I?” Old Master Cheng gently patted the back of her hand and said, ”Don’t be afraid, we’re almost like father and daughter now. I wouldn’t lose my temper with my only goddaughter! Even if I did, it would be at those rascals! Daughters are meant to be cherished and cared for.”

”Dad, we, as your sons, are really feeling wronged now. After all, you gave birth to us!” Cheng Yaozong chuckled.

Everyone joined in on the fun.

Cheng Su and Qi Taiguo exchanged a glance and smiled, ”Old Master, if you put it that way, I’m afraid I’ll attract the jealousy and envy of my brothers!”

Old Master Cheng indeed laughed heartily, ”Let them be envious of you.”

Taking advantage of the situation, Cheng Su said, ”Then you have to protect me more, or else I’m afraid they’ll have it out with me in private!”

”I’d like to see who dares!” Old Master Cheng snorted softly.

Everyone burst into laughter.

As they were talking, the door of the private room opened, and a loud voice came through, ”I heard laughter from outside, what’s making everyone so happy?”

Everyone looked over to see Cheng Yaozu and Cheng Yaoguang accompanying an elderly man as they walked in. Ning Ge was behind them, and needless to say, this was Old Master Ning!

”Oh my, old brother, no, I’m two years older than you, so I should call you little brother!” Old Master Cheng stood up to greet him, ”I’ve been looking forward to seeing you!”
