Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1358: Chapter 1359: A Pair of Porcelain Figures as a Gift

Returning to the hotel from the Cheng family, Cheng Su, already feeling exhausted, washed up and fell asleep soundly before Qi Taiguo even finished washing.

Early the next morning, someone came to pick them up for breakfast at the hotel.

”For breakfast, they even specially come to pick us up?” Qi Taiguo felt overwhelmed by the Cheng family’s enthusiasm and whispered to Cheng Su.

Cheng Su chuckled but didn’t offer any explanation.

When Qi Taiguo arrived at the so-called breakfast place and saw the setup, he was taken aback, sitting down awkwardly, and whispered, ”You should have told me earlier, this breakfast is just for tea?”

Old Master Cheng seemed to have heard, laughed heartily: ”We people in Guangcheng, don’t just call it breakfast, we say it’s morning tea. It’s about everyone sitting together, having some dim sum, drinking tea, and chatting, just to gather together!”

The breakfast in Guangcheng, characterized by morning tea and exquisite dim sum, was something Qi Taiguo had never experienced. The small portion barely filled the gap for someone who had been a soldier for years, but he only dared to think that inwardly.

”Master, today is your birthday, you have everything you need to eat and drink, and the gold, silver, and jade articles are just for looking at. This is my gift for you.” Cheng Su took the gift from Qi Taiguo’s hand and presented it: ”Wishing you, year after year like a brocade, healthy and all your wishes come true.”

”Oh, it’s not even dinner time yet, and there’s already a gift!” Old Master Cheng and his sons and daughters-in-law laughed.

”As long as you don’t mind!”

”Shall I open it?” Old Master Cheng looked at her, somewhat curious as well.

Cheng Su nodded, and together with him, they unwrapped the paper, revealing a box, then opened it to find a pair of porcelain figurines inside.

Old Master Cheng was stunned, his hands trembling slightly.

It was said to be a pair of porcelain figurines, actually molded together, the man wearing a military uniform with a military cap, smiling, with his hand resting on a girl’s shoulder.

The girl was dressed in a blue pleated skirt, with a white diagonally buttoned half-sleeve student top, a very typical Republic-era attire, and had short hair, smiling glowingly.

This pair of porcelain figurines was painted so vividly, though not as good as real people, nor as good as photos, yet the intimacy between them moved people deeply.

This is...

It was the young Old Master Cheng and his sister, Cheng Suxin.

During the turmoil back in the day, the siblings never had a proper photo together, and even photos were scarce. Cheng Su asked Cheng Yaozu and learned that they didn’t have a photo together, and with current computer technology not being up to par, she came up with this idea, going to a specialist porcelain studio with photos to create this pair of porcelain figurines.

As for the painting, the shop was famous for its vivid details, crafting incredibly lifelike pieces with incredibly skilled craftsmanship.

Of course, how they were portrayed also involved a little of her touch, after all, she had interacted with Old Master Cheng and knew his demeanor, and for Cheng Suxin, she portrayed her based on his descriptions.

The fired porcelain figurines, though not as good as photos, stood together, expressing a scene from when they were young, symbolizing emotion.

”Ah, isn’t this dad and aunt when they were young?” Cheng Yaozong exclaimed softly.

Old Master Cheng’s eyes moistened, holding up the figurines almost reverently, his fingers gently caressing the two porcelain figures, finally resting on Cheng Suxin’s face, tears falling onto them, making the porcelain figures glisten even more.
