Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1354: Chapter 1355: Unwavering Inquiries About Pregnancy

After preparing for a dozen days, Cheng Su finally got the gift ready for Old Master Cheng, packed meticulously in a big box, and took it home.

Qi Taiguo was talking on the phone in the living room, judging by the tone, it seemed like a call from his hometown.

”Mom, let’s leave it at that. I’ll keep an eye on it... Ah, not yet, don’t worry, we’re working on it here, aren’t we? That’s it, I’m hanging up, I need to go to the army!” Qi Taiguo hung up the phone.

Cheng Su placed the gift properly, looking at him with a half smile: ”What’s going on? You’re even lying, saying you’re going to the army! What did your mother call about?”

”What else? It’s about Weiqiu!” Qi Taiguo furrowed his thick brows tightly, saying, ”She said Aunt often calls to ask her if they’ve found a suitable match for Weiqiu. Still haven’t, and they say we’re not serious, that we look down on them. What on earth is this? Mom shouldn’t have agreed back then, it’s not that easy to find a suitable one.”

Cheng Su let out an ”uh” sound: ”If you didn’t mention it, I would have really forgotten about it.”

Since coming back, she’s been busy with the factory, too occupied to mind anything else, hence forgetting about it.

But Aunt and her family, they won’t give up easily!

”If you forget, then just forget it. With Weiqiu’s situation, it’s hard to handle, not just a great family, even a normal one, you don’t have much dowry, it doesn’t matter, but she’s bringing along an old mother, who would want that?” Qi Taiguo sighed.

Cheng Su agreed deeply, saying: ”That’s just the point, if it goes wrong, we wouldn’t be matchmakers, we’d be shameful people instead!”

The couple exchanged a look, seeing each other’s helplessness.

”And Deng Weixia, gone for so long now, shouldn’t he have shown up already? Leaving behind his mother and a sister, abandoning all responsibilities, what a scoundrel!” When Cheng Su mentioned Deng Weixia, her face was full of disdain.

Qi Taiguo’s face grew even darker.

”Did your mom just ask again if I’m pregnant?” Cheng Su asked tentatively.

Qi Taiguo looked a bit guilty, carefully watching her: ”Did you guess that?”

Cheng Su spoke with a half smile: ”It’s not the first time she’s asked, since we came back, she’s been steadfast in calling to ask, guessing isn’t necessary, it’s almost become routine questioning, hasn’t it?”

Qi Taiguo gave an awkward laugh: ”She’s like the eunuch who is more anxious than the emperor.”

Cheng Su’s face looked a bit gloomy, as she touched her lower abdomen, her mother-in-law was anxious, wasn’t she too? It’s been several months, still no success, is there really some aftereffects remaining?

”What if we can’t conceive, then...” Cheng Su suddenly said.

”Don’t talk nonsense. How could we not conceive? The doctor said there’s no problem, I forbid you from overthinking!” Qi Taiguo came over to hold her, saying: ”It’s just not the right timing, don’t worry, see, I’m not worried, why should you be? We’re still so busy, it’s better to wait!”

Cheng Su’s face rested on his shoulder, mumbling: ”I know, you’re just comforting me, other people’s kids are already out grocery shopping, but ours isn’t even in sight, saying you’re not worried isn’t true.”

”I’m serious.” Qi Taiguo held her face and pecked her: ”We haven’t had enough of our two-person world yet.”

Cheng Su snorted softly.

Qi Taiguo thought for a bit, then said: ”If you’re still not reassured, then when we go to Guangcheng, we can find a bigger hospital for a check-up? Guangcheng is a big city, the medical conditions are surely better than in Qing City, don’t you think!”

This was not a bad idea, it wouldn’t hurt to check at various hospitals, Cheng Su smiled and nodded: ”Okay.”
