Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1374: Chapter 1375: As Brothers, We Must Not Covet Our Sister’s Possessions

After some back-and-forth discussion, Sister-in-law Cheng recommended an old Chinese doctor, and Cheng Su and Qi Taiguo set off for the hospital after breakfast.

On the way, Cheng Su couldn’t help but complain about The Youngest Cheng, ”That big mouth, he’s really unbearable.”

”He just wasn’t paying attention for a moment, let it go!” Qi Taiguo said with a laugh.

Cheng Su wrinkled her little nose, yawned, and said, ”Big Brother Cheng and the others didn’t take back the house and land, they refuse to take it back!”

Qi Taiguo had also considered that they might not take it back, so he wasn’t surprised and asked, ”What do you plan to do with it?”

”I plan to set up a charitable foundation in the name of Old Master Cheng. It could provide goodwill to places like welfare homes and orphanages in the future. It’s also a way to accumulate blessings and longevity for Old Master Cheng. What do you think?” Cheng Su shared her thoughts.

”The land is yours. Whatever you want to do, I’ll support you,” Qi Taiguo said with a smile.

Cheng Su nodded and said, ”The land isn’t worth much right now. Let’s just leave it for now; there’s no rush. Let’s take it one step at a time...”

While talking, the two had already arrived at the hospital Sister-in-law Cheng mentioned, registered, and went directly to find the old Chinese doctor she mentioned for a consultation.

Meanwhile, at the Cheng family, Cheng Yaoguang and the others were discussing with Old Master Cheng about Cheng Su returning the gifts.

Old Master Cheng immediately sat up straight, ”You didn’t really take them back, did you?”

Cheng Yaoguang and the others exchanged a look and laughed, ”Dad, what kind of people do you take us for? Once a gift is given, there’s no reason to take it back!”

”That’s more like it,” Old Master Cheng snorted lightly and said, ”I’m telling you, these things were all bought with my private savings. Whoever I want to give them to is my business. It’s rare for me to have a daughter, giving away such a small thing, and you, as her brothers, are still eyeing your sister’s things. That’s what’s wrong. Besides, you all have money, is it appropriate to covet that?”

”Dad, it’s not that we are coveting; we just didn’t dare to take them back because we know what you mean!” Cheng Yaozong laughed.

Old Master Cheng acknowledged with a hum, then with pride, ”My goddaughter is not bad at all, she’s not greedy and has ambition, not bad!”

The brothers exchanged glances and saw the speechlessness in each other’s eyes.

Cheng Yaoguang cleared his throat and repeated Cheng Su’s words to Old Master Cheng.

Old Master Cheng was a bit surprised, ”Did that girl really say that?” Seeing his son nod, he couldn’t help but secretly praise, ”She indeed has a broad vision. You can decide how to proceed. For a family to last long, it takes several generations to accumulate wealth. In my view, this is indeed a good time, not like in the old days when capitalism was attacked, targeting capitalists or landlords. It is worth considering.”

”I think so too,” Cheng Yaozong said excitedly, rubbing his hands together.

”However, you must also be cautious. Big Brother, in your position, you need to be mindful of everything. Whatever you do, it must be above board, and some things shouldn’t be too high-profile,” Old Master Cheng added.

Cheng Yaoguang and the others understood his meaning: basically, beware of letting anyone catch on to any wrongdoing, and don’t misuse authority to benefit the family.

”Everything has a limit. Once you grasp that, things will go smoothly,” Old Master Cheng said calmly. ”You brothers must support each other; the saying goes, ’When brothers are of one mind, they can cut through gold.’ Big Brother, you are in government, Second Brother, you are in business—all should be done honorably, with no fear of investigation.”

”Dad, we understand!”

”Also, don’t forget to support your sister,” Old Master Cheng reminded.

”...”
