Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1368: Chapter 1369: Sworn Kinship Acknowledged

As time passed, more and more guests arrived at the banquet hall, and Cheng Su dared not remain seated. She stood beside Old Master Cheng, watching guests come forward to wish him a happy birthday and observing him distribute red envelopes.

These birthday wishes were quite interesting.

Some guests noticed Cheng Su, who was standing beside Old Master Cheng, and couldn’t help but glance at her a few more times. The old master then introduced her, saying, ”This is my goddaughter, named Cheng Su.” He added to Cheng Su, ”This is your Uncle Song, head of the Finance Office...”

With such introductions increasing, Cheng Su’s face nearly froze from smiling.

When almost all the guests had arrived, Old Master Cheng walked around the banquet hall with Cheng Su, introducing her to people he deemed important to know. Thus, Cheng Su became the second protagonist of tonight’s birthday celebration.

Soon, the gathering was full of good friends, and the emcee began with the opening remarks, inviting Cheng Yaozong to speak as the family’s representative. Although Cheng Yaoguang was the eldest, Yaozong was the second son, but given Cheng Yaoguang’s status, it’s best to avoid unnecessary impacts by being mindful.

After Yaozong spoke, they invited Old Master Cheng to take the stage and say a few words.

Old Master Cheng extended his hand to Cheng Su, saying, ”Come, assist me to the stage!”

Cheng Su’s heart started to pound, but she suppressed it, smiling as she held his hand and stood on the stage, her lips slightly curled as she glanced at the audience below.

”First, thank you all for taking the time to attend this old man’s grand birthday. Tonight’s meal might not be extravagant, just simple tea and meals, I hope you don’t mind,” Old Master Cheng cleared his throat and said, ”I, this old man, actually have another joyous event for you all to witness today. That is, this old man finally has a thoughtful little jacket, no longer just sons and grandsons at home, but also a girl.”

The guests were a bit surprised, their eyes all turning towards Cheng Su.

Cheng Su showed no trace of stage fright, with her hands gracefully placed in front of her abdomen, smiling subtly yet confidently, making many people’s eyes light up slightly.

”Not bad,” Cheng Yaoguang whispered to Yaozong and the others.

Yaozong responded, ”Dad always says, don’t underestimate her.”

Cheng Su didn’t come from a distinguished background, from a small family, typically in such a grand setting, one would inevitably feel timid, as the saying goes, unable to step onto a grand stage.

But looking at Cheng Su, not a hint of fear, poised and comfortable, she exhibited the demeanor of a noble family, which naturally pleased Cheng Yaoguang and the others. After all, everyone likes a good image.

Old Master Cheng took Cheng Su’s hand and stepped forward, saying, ”This is my little jacket, my goddaughter, Cheng Su!” He handed her the microphone, ”Say hello to everyone!”

Cheng Su calmly took it, smiled, and said, ”Hello everyone, I’m Cheng Su, welcome to the event.”

Cheng Yaozong quickly arranged for a ceremonial lady responsible for serving tea to come on stage. A waiter also moved a chair to the center of the stage.

Cheng Yaozong took a cup of tea from the ceremonial lady’s tray and handed it to Cheng Su, ”Offer a cup of tea to Dad!”

After the tea was offered, the godparent relationship was acknowledged.

Cheng Su accepted the tea, knelt in front of Old Master Cheng, and kowtowed three times, then took Cheng Yaozong’s tea and held it above her head, ”Godfather, please have some tea!”

”Good, good!” Old Master Cheng took the tea and sipped it. Cheng Yaozong then placed it back on the tray and picked up a large leather bag from the tray, handing it to the old master.

”This is your acknowledgment gift, keep it well!” Old Master Cheng handed it to Cheng Su.

Cheng Su received it, ”Thank you, godfather!”

The two exchanged looks, both with slightly wet eyes and filled with emotions.

Cheng Su couldn’t say why she felt so emotional, perhaps because she felt she had gained another family member?

Suddenly, applause erupted, accompanied by voices expressing congratulations.
