Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1360: Chapter 1361: Didn’t Misjudge the Person

As soon as Old Master Ning and the others arrived, everyone exchanged greetings, and the two most senior elders sat down, starting another round of conversation.

Ning Ge first presented the birthday gift for the old master. Since they had brought a gift, Old Master Cheng thought it inappropriate to inspect it right away, so he chuckled and said, ”You’re all in such a hurry to present your gifts; the banquet hasn’t even started yet!”

”It doesn’t matter when a gift is given, but from what the old master says, has someone already given their gift before me?” Ning Ge laughed and glanced at Cheng Su and the others.

”Indeed, take a look.” Old Master Cheng showed off the pair of porcelain figurines like a treasure: ”This is my sister and me when we were young. Back then, we didn’t have any photos together, but this girl was so clever, she actually made these porcelain figures as a keepsake.”

”Oh my, it’s quite lifelike.” Old Master Ning put on his reading glasses for a closer look and said, ”This girl has always been thoughtful; I think it’s better than any gold or jade.”

Cheng Su laughed and said, ”Old Master, please don’t tease me. Actually, I made these because I had no money, being poor forced me to make these porcelain figures, they’re not worth much.”

”Nonsense, as the saying goes, the thought is more valuable than the gift! I think this sentiment is more valuable than anything!” Old Master Cheng disagreed and said, ”Besides, if you really have no money, aren’t you doing some business? Let your second brother invest in you; whatever you want to do, let him invest, don’t worry about money!”

”I’ve already secured an investment!” Cheng Su teased with a smile, ”If I ask for more, my second brother will probably turn around and walk away as soon as he sees me!”

”Haha, you silly girl!” Old Master Cheng tapped her on the forehead with a laugh and said, ”I don’t know how you manage to speak so eloquently!”

”Old brother, you don’t know, she not only speaks well but can lecture me with grand principles!” Old Master Ning laughed and interjected.

”Oh? How so?” Old Master Cheng was quite interested.

”Back then...” Old Master Ning recounted the time when Cheng Su misunderstood him and thought he was jumping off the building, along with the advice she gave him: ”You see, isn’t that quite reasonable!”

”Old Master, that’s clearly an embarrassing story, you’re telling it on purpose to make fun of me!” Cheng Su laughed, playfully acting spoiled.

Old Master Cheng was very satisfied and happy, as Old Master Ning’s words proved he had not misjudged her. This girl was indeed a good person, capable of endearing herself to others, proving his decision was correct.

”Come, let’s talk while we eat. You must be hungry, right? Airplane food is never good, try some of our Guangcheng snacks!” Old Master Cheng invited Old Master Ning, then called over Qi Taiguo and the others who were already seated and chatting: ”Hey, why don’t you all come over and have something to eat first, what are you discussing, big projects?”

Qi Taiguo and the others came over and started eating.

During this time, Old Master Cheng talked about his past experiences fighting as a Red Army soldier, and Old Master Ning also related deeply to this. The two elders, with a combined age of nearly one hundred and fifty, reminisced about the hardships of the past and the great deeds of ancestors and old revolutionaries, captivating everyone present.

”We have this era of peace because the old revolutionaries exchanged their blood and lives for it; we must cherish it well, and we should be grateful!” Old Master Cheng sighed.

Old Master Ning also sighed, ”Indeed! But some people seem to have forgotten.”

Seeing him look somewhat desolate, Old Master Cheng realized that something in the Capital might have disappointed the old chief, but it wasn’t appropriate to ask at the table, so he decided to wait until they returned home to have a proper talk.
