Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1357: Chapter 1358: Everything Needs a Ritual

Cheng Su had met the Cheng family several times, but it was Qi Taiguo’s first meeting with them, so it needed to be somewhat formal. They first settled at the hotel and freshened up before going to the Cheng family for the visit.

”Is this alright?” Qi Taiguo asked Cheng Su as he came downstairs, worried that he might embarrass her.

Cheng Su straightened his collar and said, ”It’s fine, very handsome!” then smiled with her lips pursed.

Although there was no snow in Guangcheng, it was winter, and the cold here was characteristically damp. So Qi Taiguo wore casual pants with leather shoes, and on top, a shirt and jacket. Not the height of fashion, but he looked quite presentable.

He was tall, had a military background, and exercised regularly, giving him a naturally good physique. Therefore, when dressed up, he exuded a remarkable presence.

Qi Taiguo smiled, ”As long as I don’t embarrass you!”

Cheng Su playfully glared at him.

Arriving at the Cheng family with Cheng Yaozu, because it was Cheng Su’s first time bringing Qi Taiguo along and she was soon to become Old Master Cheng’s goddaughter, everyone who could be there was home.

This time, Cheng Su also met the third child of the Cheng family, Cheng Yaoyao, who had the refined air of a learned professor, extremely gentle and elegant. His wife was said to be an artist, exuding extraordinary grace as well.

”Deputy Battalion Commander Qi, you’re exactly as outstanding and brilliant as the rumors say.” Old Master Cheng said with satisfaction as he looked at Qi Taiguo, stroking his beard.

”Old Master, feel free to call me by my name,” Qi Taiguo replied humbly with a smile.

”Alright, alright, then I’m being presumptuous!” Old Master Cheng smiled warmly, ”Have a seat.”

Everyone sat in the living room, and Old Master Cheng first inquired about Cheng Jiasheng’s performance in the army from Qi Taiguo.

”He has a steady temperament and strong scouting abilities; he’s a promising talent,” Qi Taiguo said, ”He also earned commendations in this mission.”

”That’s also because of your excellent guidance, Taiguo!” Cheng Jiasheng’s father, Cheng Yaozong, said with a smile.

Qi Taiguo replied, ”I wouldn’t dare take credit; it’s all due to his own capabilities.”

”Young man, when the temper is rough, be strict. Don’t hold back when necessary. Uncarved jade cannot become an artifact,” Cheng Yaoguang chimed in.

Qi Taiguo nodded with a smile.

Old Master Cheng observed from the side, seeing his very proper posture and measured responses, neither arrogant nor impatient, with sharp eyes. He couldn’t help but secretly approve, thinking this young man was quite decent.

Meanwhile, the eldest sister-in-law of the Cheng family spoke with Cheng Su about the process for acknowledging godparents at the birthday banquet, to mentally prepare Cheng Su.

Cheng Su looked at Old Master Cheng and said, ”Actually, it doesn’t matter whether we go through with this godparent ceremony or not. In my heart, you’re already an elder, and you can just treat me as a junior to guide!”

Old Master Cheng laughed heartily and said, ”That won’t do. Even if it’s a small matter, the big occasions need a ceremony. With a ceremony, the relationship is solid. Only then can these juniors interact with you as relatives in the future.”

A glimmer of emotion passed through Cheng Su’s eyes.

Old Master Cheng continued, ”If only your parents weren’t so far away, I would have liked to invite them over for a meal. It wouldn’t do to recognize someone else’s daughter without knowing what her birth parents are like!”

Cheng Su replied, ”It’s winter now, almost the New Year, and there are family matters that can’t be left unattended. When transportation is more convenient in the future, it won’t be too late to visit!”

”Alright, alright. It’s settled then!” Old Master Cheng said, very pleased, and then inquired about when Cheng Yaozu and Ning Ge would arrive, offering to arrange for someone to pick them up from the airport.

”Their flight is tomorrow morning, and I’ve arranged everything!” Cheng Yaozu quickly responded.

Old Master Cheng nodded in satisfaction and then invited everyone to the table for dinner, creating a harmonious atmosphere.
