I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 592: Chapter 591: Another Serving

The medicinal cuisine began to be served in batches, with eighteen hot dishes, nine cold dishes, and three types of soup. Besides these, there were porridges and pottages, presented in single small portions for each person.

The liquor was provided by the Wei Family. Each cart had six jars of wine, with the names sealed on them, and guests could choose which one to drink. The servers would pour according to requests.

The hot and cold dishes were mostly provided by the Tian Family’s techniques and recipes. This time, the main promotional focus was not on the dishes but rather on the soups and porridges.

What was provided to everyone were small portions, not because Beisitian was stingy, but because the medicinal cuisine infused with talismanic water has a fixed quantity. Drinking beyond this amount is not necessarily harmful, but excessive supplementation could become a burden on the body.

Just like how over-supplementation can cause nosebleeds and internal heat.

Those in the know were aware that these small servings of soups and pottages were good stuff. Aside from these, the three kinds of soups on the table were also products from Heavenly Blessing, certainly infused with the main medicinal ingredient.

Wu Yuekai wasn’t very interested in the dishes on the table, and when the wine carts were pushed out, all his attention was drawn to them.

The Tiger Bone Wine was decent, but too mild for him. He liked strong liquor, but unfortunately, his health didn’t allow it.

He wondered how the other wines tasted.

Seeing this, Beisitian smiled helplessly and said, ”Sir, you better drink the Tiger Bone Wine. If you want a change in taste, I can brew other wines for you.”

Wu Yuekai’s face wrinkled into a crumple. Brewed wine might be good, but it would take a long time; he wanted to drink now!

With so many people present, Wu Yuekai was too embarrassed to show his temper. A breath of air puffed from his nostrils as he quietly suppressed his craving for liquor, glancing at Li Xuejun.

Li Xuejun quickly averted his gaze, pretending he hadn’t seen, determined not to meet the old commander’s eyes.

Wu Yuekai grumbled inwardly; should he consider switching to a more attentive aide?

It was precisely this guy who had exchanged glances with that girl, drawing her attention to him, thinking he hadn’t noticed!

Though Wu Yuekai wasn’t blatantly obvious, the people at this table were all adept at reading expressions, and the old general’s demeanor was clear to them.

Wu Yuekai’s attitude towards Beisitian could almost be described as doting!

Zhou Biwu felt a bit surprised. Although he knew they were close and that Wu Yuekai was very attentive to Beisitian, he hadn’t expected their relationship to be this intimate, almost like family.

Zhou Biwu was acquainted with Wu Yuekai; they had participated in peacekeeping together and frequently gathered for field training, understanding each other quite well. Thus, he was even more surprised by Wu Yuekai’s behavior.

It seemed like Old General Wu’s health had improved significantly in the last two years, likely due to Beisitian’s care.

As the dishes were served one by one, the chatter in the banquet hall grew slightly louder.

At this point, the Host picked up the microphone to introduce the dishes and soups to everyone.

The focus was primarily on the medicinal cuisines from Heavenly Blessing.

The three main soups were Cordyceps Flower Nourishing Soup, Angelica Lamb Ginger Soup, and Ginkgo Osmanthus Ball Soup.

The soups all contained talismanic water from Wei Zhongyuan, classified as Intermediate Medicine Cuisine, significantly enhancing their effects, with some additional benefits. Drinking such soups can greatly boost immunity.

After the Host introduced the three soups, many guests shifted their attention from the dishes to the three porcelain pots of soup. They were ample in quantity; the taste was yet to be known.

Each table was equipped with four servers exclusively for serving soup and dishes, and the service was exceptional, satisfying many executives. The National Guest Hotel itself offered first-class service, as long as one was willing to spend money.

After introducing the soups, the servers proactively served a small bowl of soup to each person, allowing guests to request whichever flavor they preferred.

Many were curious but held a tasting mindset, having consumed similar supplements plenty after acquiring wealth, so they were somewhat jaded.

However, most found after drinking that the expected greasy sensation was absent, replaced by a subtle refreshing smoothness that made them wish to keep drinking.

Most guests, including Mr. Tai, emptied their soup bowls completely.

The porcelain pots seemed large, but divided among eight people, the quantity was quite insufficient.

Shao Simin wanted another bowl, but the porcelain pot was already empty. She reluctantly asked the server, ”Please add another serving of the round ball soup.”

The servers exchanged glances, one of them replying, ”I apologize, madam, the organizers prepared only one serving.”

Hearing this, Shao Simin frowned, ”Why not prepare more?” This was a bit too stingy!

This question was beyond the server’s answer; it was as per the organizer’s arrangement.

At this point, a soft laugh sounded, as another madam at the same table gently covered her mouth. Seeing Shao Simin look her way, she couldn’t help but say, ”Having a few more like madam here, and Heavenly Blessing would go bankrupt before opening for business. Do you know how much one serving of this soup costs?”

Shao Simin was dissatisfied with this woman’s casual interjection, especially with the sarcastic undertone that made her very uncomfortable. She retorted, ”I’d like to know the price, yet regardless of how expensive it is, should the priority not be to satisfy the guests of honor? We’re here to show support; isn’t providing a hearty meal more significant?”

Such words were rather tactless.

Luo Xuhua frowned, quietly saying, ”Stop it.”

Shao Simin knew she was a bit hot-headed, but what she said was honest, albeit somewhat unpleasant.

The gentleman beside that lady laughed to ease the situation, ”Indeed, Heavenly Blessing’s items are expensive. A serving of this soup costs four hundred and twenty yuan. Knowing this surprised me too, no wonder it’s rationed to each person.”

This helped cover for Shao Simin, as causing a scene in such a venue would be very embarrassing. Everyone had a name and face, and no one wanted notoriety over such matters in the circle.

Upon hearing the price, Shao Simin’s lips twitched; one serving of soup alone priced as much as several upscale restaurant meals. How could it be so costly!

As she contemplated this, she turned slightly, noticing Luo Xuhua’s gaze at her had grown cold, causing her heart to shudder. She felt slightly ashamed and decided to stay silent, inwardly resenting Beisitian.

They were relatives, after all; shouldn’t such matters be communicated in advance?

Shao Simin didn’t really know what she was resentful about. Meanwhile, Luo Xuhua pondered deeply; the Host hadn’t mentioned the price of the soup earlier, yet why did someone at the table know?

He glanced around his table, then scanned other tables. The gazes directed at the soup were varied, showing that more than one person had the knowledge.

How did they come to know?
