I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 570: Chapter 569: Low-Key Luxury

It’s understandable why Zhou Biwu has always been paying attention to her because she looks a lot like Bei Jiale, but she couldn’t quite grasp why he constantly took part in some of her events.

However, as Zhou Biwu didn’t make any superfluous moves on both occasions, Beisitian simply accepted it, considering that he’s a lieutenant general, she can’t really afford to refuse him.

Moreover, having such a high-ranking officer with real power participate is beneficial for the promotional event and has no downsides for her.

Ma Tianlai felt his heart surging; even the banquets held back in Hong Kong didn’t have such prominent figures. Back then, no matter how many big shots were invited, they were all underworld figures who couldn’t be brought to the surface, with their power limited to their own territories.

But looking at the list of attendees for this promotional event, Ma Tianlai felt thrilled. These people were coming out of respect for Beisitian.

”Don’t make the scene too luxurious,” Beisitian said.

Ma Tianlai was taken aback. He opened his mouth, wanting to argue that the bigger the official, the more they liked extravagance, but Beisitian’s next words made him hold his tongue.

”The attendees are all people of stature; overt opulence will be criticized, especially by some news media, who might exploit this. If the participants end up being labeled as wasteful, our promotional event would do them harm,” Beisitian explained.

Upon hearing this, Ma Tianlai found it very reasonable. However, high officials are still high officials; if things are too simple, it would feel like they’re being undervalued, which could offend a bunch of people.

Seeing his worried look, Beisitian smiled and said, ”Why don’t we aim for understated luxury?”

Ma Tianlai was startled. How does one do understated luxury?

”All the food at the venue will be of Intermediate Medicine Cuisine standards, with a select few using Advanced Herbal Cuisine specifications,” Beisitian stated.

Ma Tianlai was astonished by her words, ”Such quantities will be significant. Can Mr. Wei supply it in such a short time?”

”The promotional event will not use a buffet style—otherwise, even if Wei Zhongyuan were to exhaust himself, he wouldn’t manage it. Instead, everything will be portioned and served in the traditional Chinese dining style,” Beisitian explained.

Ma Tianlai chuckled bitterly, thinking that Mr. Wei would still likely be exhausted, but that wasn’t his concern.

”I’ll customize the menu, and it would be best for the hotel’s chefs to have our people supervise. Talismanic water must be put in by our own people,” Beisitian added.

Ma Tianlai listened carefully, keeping it all in mind. This meant that the arrangements he had just finalized needed to be renegotiated.

As for placing their own people among the chefs, who knows if the National Guest Hotel would agree; it would need further discussion. As for the talismanic water, indeed it couldn’t be revealed to outsiders.

However, the participants, especially those key figures, were aware of Beisitian’s identity, which would also aid the promotion significantly.

”As for the food, we will provide our own beverages. I’ll find a way to see if the Wei Family has some aged medicinal wine available,” Beisitian stated.

Ma Tianlai was silent, thinking Doctor Bei intended to deplete the Wei Family... Which would be a good thing!

Once Beisitian finished speaking, Ma Tianlai was ready to leave; he had to hurry and prepare, given the changes to originally finalized matters and the approaching event date—it was all becoming quite urgent.

The space he originally decorated extravagantly now needed reworking, but Beisitian had also said not to be too frugal, opting instead for standard conference decor with true luxury focused on food.

”By the way, don’t leak the list of the promotional event. There will definitely be media present that day; people in power should not be photographed, only we need to know internally,” Beisitian instructed.

Ma Tianlai had already stood up but upon hearing this, he sat back down, concerned. ”Doctor Bei, in this way, the promotional effect won’t be achieved!”

He had intended to boost Heavenly Blessing’s profile by using the names of influential people; without promotion, how would that work?

”We can’t always cater to those people’s thoughts, you know.”

Seeing him anxious, Beisitian smiled, ”Having Zheng Qiwai’s name alone exposed is enough for promotion; that was his own suggestion.”

”But...”

”Trust me, exposing these identities only invites trouble for themselves. The public is prone to gossip, yet I don’t intend to keep their identities under wraps. By using other channels to subtly spread their identities, just a select few knowing suffices. You should understand which select few I’m referring to,” Beisitian elaborated.

Ma Tianlai was baffled for a moment but then realized that Beisitian intended to position Heavenly Blessing on a high-end product trajectory, akin to luxury goods, where most only hear of it and desire, but purchase ability depends on personal capacity.

Indeed, this was feasible. While it wouldn’t explode into fame immediately, the influence of these people could be quite substantial. At that point, within the upper circles, once some images or rumors started circulating, they would be quick to react.

Moreover, Heavenly Blessing wasn’t entirely exclusive to the elite or political and military leaders; it also had many approachable products whose pricing was within an acceptable range and suitable for gifting without seeming stingy.

”I understand your intentions now. I’ll get right on it!” Ma Tianlai revived his spirits, thinking that if the final outcome was good, Heavenly Blessing’s reputation might be even greater than he imagined!

This reputation, naturally, was founded on the superior quality of the products, which was where their confidence stemmed from – something Ma Tianlai never doubted.

Nian Fanghua also left with him, while Beisitian planned to visit the Wei Family and the Tian Family.

Before long, Wei Zhongyuan arrived, accompanied by Wei Zhongxun.

”I need your help,” Beisitian smiled warmly and said.

It wasn’t that she wanted them to help for nothing; after explaining the details of the promotional event, Wei Zhongyuan nodded without hesitation, ”No problem.”

”You agreed so quickly. I was even preparing some conditions to exchange,” Beisitian laughed.

With a serious tone, Wei Zhongyuan said, ”You saved my life. Such a small favor doesn’t require an exchange; just let me know what you need.”

He disliked how Beisitian was so formal with him. She knew Bei Sitiang didn’t really consider him one of her people. At least when she spoke with Wei Zhongxun, she was much more natural and informal, without the need for exchanges.

Despite Wei Zhongyuan’s words, Beisitian still intended to use some talisman making techniques for the exchange, though she wouldn’t state it outright. She would simply teach him and then have him engage in talisman making, which was indeed what he most needed at the moment.

”Zhongxun, does your family have any aged medicinal wines?” Beisitian asked.

Wei Zhongxun lounged lazily on the sofa, ”Yeah, plenty. We have over a dozen wine cellars.” He readily sold out the old man’s collection.

Hearing this, Beisitian was overjoyed, ”I’ll visit the old gentleman later.”

She planned to make a deal with Wei Yuanqing.
