I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 583: Chapter 582: A Visit

Fei Xueqin’s visit to the small courtyard was mainly driven by curiosity. The name Wei Zhongyuan has nowadays spread across the ears of Mystic Doctors. When he left home, he heard people above saying that even some reclusive old masters have stirred upon hearing this news.

It goes without saying, when he saw Beisitian, he couldn’t help but let his mind wander, especially after hearing firsthand Wei Zhongyuan saying he would work as an assistant for Beisitian. Moreover, he could tell that Wei Zhongyuan’s attitude toward this pregnant woman carried a hint of reverence!

He now wants to figure out who exactly this young pregnant woman Beisitian is, why she could earn such respect from Wei Zhongyuan, and how she managed to cure that young man’s illness.

”Doctor Bei, it’s an honor to visit. I wanted to exchange more knowledge with such a proficient doctor like you. I’m from the Southern Yunquan School. My name is Fei Xueqin, the twenty-seventh generation inheritor of the Fei Family.” Fei Xueqin courteously introduced himself.

Yunquan School is quite renowned south of the Yangtze River. It comprises twelve families of varying sizes, mainly governed by three families, including the Fei Family as one of the key authorities!

Beisitian was hearing of this kind of formation for the first time. A total of twelve families forming together — would there not be many conflicts?

Beisitian naturally couldn’t ask such questions. Smiling, she said, ”Hello Doctor Fei. More exchanges are beneficial. My full name is Beisitian.”

Fei Xueqin waited for her to say more, but she stopped there — just ”full name is Beisitian”? Isn’t that overly simple?

”Are you a member of the Wei Family, Doctor Bei?” Fei Xueqin could only ask.

Beisitian shook her head, ”Not a Wei Family member, I am my own faction.” That’s all she could say.

The concept of being her own faction is rather ambiguous, considering counting her master, there are only three people. Does that make her the founding ancestor? A faction of just three doesn’t warrant much talk.

The self-faction claim sounded vague to Fei Xueqin, but it also indicated that Beisitian likely wasn’t tied to any influential power. Contrary to his initial thought that she might be a Wei Family member or hired physician, the undeniable fact remains that her ties with the Wei Family must be quite close.

Fei Xueqin glanced at Wei Zhongyuan beside him. His expression was indifferent without any intention of speaking. This silence will lead to awkwardness.

What he truly wants to know is whether Beisitian can perform Spiritual Pointing and Success Talisman. After all, Wei Zhongyuan, who can perform Spiritual Pointing and Success Talisman, willingly assists her, so she must also possess this skill, to some extent.

While he’s making such guesses, a sense of doubt creeps in. If she could perform Spiritual Pointing and Success Talisman, it’s unlikely she would have no reputation at all. What Mystic Doctor doesn’t wish to earn widespread repute, achieve accomplishments within this circle, admired by all family sects, and valued by the state? There’s no reason to be obscure.

Thus, he reckons the most probable explanation is an unknown relationship between Beisitian and the Wei Family, causing Wei Zhongyuan, capable of Spiritual Pointing and Success Talisman, to willingly assist her. Of course, this woman surely possesses skills unknown to others, otherwise she wouldn’t have been able to cure that young man’s illness.

No matter how much Fei Xueqin speculates, he couldn’t plainly ask if she could perform Spiritual Pointing and Success Talisman, as that would be exceedingly inappropriate and likely misunderstood.

”Will Madam attend this medical symposium?” Fei Xueqin asked with a smile.

Beisitian was startled before recalling this matter, saying, ”That’s uncertain.”

Upon hearing this and observing Beisitian’s expression, Fei Xueqin realized she simply didn’t understand what this symposium was about, nor its significance to Mystic Doctors. The symposium held every five years is really an opportunity for various clan sects to gain reputation.

The Wei Family’s two prodigies, Wei Zhongyuan and Wei Zhongxun, rose to fame at the symposium five years ago. There had been rumors of their genius before, but this symposium solidified their renown.

Seeing Beisitian so unperturbed, Fei Xueqin’s mind began speculating. Was it truly Beisitian who treated that young man?

Beisitian might indeed be a Mystic Doctor, but she very likely possesses a special background. This explains why Wei Zhongyuan treats her differently, and why the Wei Family has such amiable ties with her.

Such a special background mostly relates to politics, only those in positions of power could make Mystic Doctors apprehensive. With this understanding, Wei Zhongyuan’s behavior becomes understandable.

Perhaps she’s attempting to leverage Wei Zhongyuan’s fame for her own benefit, after all, Wei Zhongyuan is already well-known.

In an instant, Fei Xueqin thought of many things, especially during the ensuing conversation with Beisitian, realizing her lack of understanding about the Mystic Doctor realm. The people she knew were few, and she hadn’t even heard of some major family sects, which left him speechless.

When Fei Xueqin looked at Beisitian again, his gaze wasn’t as initially filled with curiosity and admiration, but rather discreetly indifferent, somewhat dismissive.

Fei Xueqin left shortly afterward, feeling it wiser to visit the Wei Family instead, since he noticed that where Beisitian was present, Wei Zhongyuan preferred silence.

With only Beisitian and Wei Zhongyuan left in the living room, Wei Zhongyuan opened his eyes and spoke, ”You could seize the opportunity of this symposium to make your name known.” Beisitian indeed knew little about the diverse factions of Mystic Doctors, as she hadn’t traveled much. She was adapting swiftly to this new, radically different world from before, naturally stretching her energies.

Wei Zhongyuan’s remark stemmed from his disdain for anyone who might underestimate Beisitian. She is someone he admires, and he hopes others will equally admire her.

Beisitian smiled and said, ”If I weren’t pregnant, I would certainly want to experience it. Now pregnant, I maintain my earlier stance: if physically fit, I’ll go; if not, I won’t. It’s held every five years, correct? There’s always the next five.”

As for gaining fame, she never considered it. Once a person gains fame, various troubles follow. Beisitian isn’t afraid of trouble, but her wings are not yet fully grown. Having been in this world for just over two years, unlike those born into it. Many potential, unknown dangers remain, and she doesn’t wish to expose herself too soon.

Wei Zhongyuan was silent; he couldn’t quite understand Beisitian’s concerns, considering the many authoritative figures around her and the support of families like the Wei Family. What exactly was she worried about?

”I certainly plan to attend this symposium, not for myself, but for the Wei Family,” Wei Zhongyuan remarked, emphasizing that reputation is crucial for Mystic Doctors.

The symposium was to be held in Beijing. If physically fit, Beisitian naturally plans to participate.
