I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 577: Chapter 576: He’s Fading Fast

Mrs. Cheng saw that Wei Zhongyuan was not speaking and felt a bit anxious, so she couldn’t help but speak up, ”Doctor Wei, could you come with us to take a look?”

Wei Zhongyuan remained silent. In this situation, there was no need for a consultation. The Yunquan School is a skilled Mystic Doctor school, and if Fei Xueqin couldn’t understand such obvious symptoms, then his years as a Mystic Doctor would have been in vain.

Moreover, the Cheng Family had just mentioned that they had already attempted resuscitation once due to multiple organ failure. Although the resuscitation was successful, the illness was not cured, only temporarily controlled, and could relapse at any time.

So, just from hearing about it, Wei Zhongyuan knew the outcome. He definitely couldn’t treat it.

”Madam, it’s not very optimistic, there’s no need to go,” Wei Zhongyuan could only express his meaning in this indirect way.

Upon hearing this, Mrs. Cheng understood immediately: Wei Zhongyuan thought it unnecessary to even go!

She felt a heavy weight in her chest, making it hard to breathe. Unconsciously, she started taking big gulps of air, and Cheng ZhenGuo quickly stepped forward to pat her back.

Wei Zhongyuan took out a stick of incense, lit it, and waved it under Mrs. Cheng’s nose. Her breathing soon became smooth again.

After catching her breath, Mrs. Cheng began to cry as she said, ”Please just take a look. Jumping to conclusions without seeing it, isn’t that too rash?”

Though saying this might offend someone, Mrs. Cheng could not care less at this point; she just hoped Wei Zhongyuan would take a look—what if there was still hope?

Cheng ZhenGuo sighed deeply in his heart. He knew chances were slim, but that was his own son. Due to his busy work schedule, he hadn’t been able to care for him much. The guilt he felt was immense, and now, in this situation, the guilt was overwhelming.

”What’s going on?”

As the atmosphere in the living room grew heavy and awkward, a voice broke in. Without looking up, Wei Yuanqing knew that Wei Zhongxun had returned.

This kid had almost zero perception. He should not have come in at this time. Wei Yuanqing glanced at him, irritated.

Wei Zhongxun’s perception wasn’t really zero; he had come in upon seeing Mrs. Cheng.

Isn’t this the woman who went to my master to seek treatment but was frightened off by the price? How did she end up here?

Mrs. Cheng was in such a daze that she hadn’t noticed who entered and didn’t care who it was. All she knew was that the Wei Family’s doctor wasn’t even willing to go, which meant there was no hope left!

”This lady looks familiar. Have we met somewhere?” Wei Zhongxun said with a cheerful smile to Mrs. Cheng.

Seeing the scene before him, and recalling that someone from the Wei Family had come suddenly saying someone was seeking treatment and asking for Wei Zhongyuan to return, he couldn’t be ignorant of what was going on.

Mrs. Cheng did not respond, sitting on the sofa with a vacant stare at the floor, thinking that if her son didn’t make it, she wouldn’t want to live either.

”Zhongxun, don’t make trouble!” Wei Yuanqing lightly scolded.

Wei Zhongxun shrugged, smiling at Wei Yuanqing, ”I’m not making trouble. I really have seen her before. A few days ago, she went to my master as well, seeking treatment for her son, but didn’t buy the medicine because it was too expensive.”

Fei Xueqin’s attention had been focused on Wei Zhongyuan, thinking about how he might speak with him. Now, hearing this, he couldn’t help but turn to look at Wei Zhongxun.

Had someone from the Wei Family taken on a master?

Wei Yuanqing raised an eyebrow upon hearing this. He wouldn’t voluntarily push this matter towards Beisitian unless she wanted to get involved herself. Therefore, he hadn’t brought it up—after all, talisman making requires consuming spirit, and now that Beisitian is pregnant, pushing this onto her could damage her health and spirit. Who would bear that responsibility?

Unexpectedly, it turned out Beisitian had long known about this matter. The medicine was too expensive? How expensive was it?

Upon hearing her son’s situation, Mrs. Cheng’s blank expression showed a change. She lifted her head to see who was speaking and recognized the young man before her.

Isn’t this the apprentice of that young doctor? How did he end up at the Wei Family?

Wei Zhongyuan was also surprised and asked, ”Did she mention this matter today?”

No wonder she mentioned anorexia and multiple organ failure.

Wei Zhongxun nodded, ”Master thought that child was quite pitiful and heard that ordinary people couldn’t treat him.”

His master was no ordinary person, and he could tell Beisitian had great compassion for the child; otherwise, he wouldn’t have interjected at this time.

Cheng ZhenGuo remained calm, after all, his child was still hanging on, so he heard the implication in Wei Zhongxun’s words and, not understanding what happened before, asked, ”Sir, are you also from the Wei Family?”

Wei Zhongxun nodded, ”Yes.”

Since he was from the Wei Family and could enter the inner courtyard, and was so casual in front of Wei Yuanqing, it was clear he held a high status in the Wei Family.

In an instant, Cheng ZhenGuo deduced that such a person’s master was probably not someone simple either.

”So, sir, does your master capable of treating my son’s illness?” Cheng ZhenGuo asked.

Wei Zhongxun shook his head, ”I didn’t say that. My master’s medicine worked initially, but since it wasn’t used continuously, its current effectiveness is unknown.”

”Not used continuously?” Cheng ZhenGuo quickly understood the earlier implication, because his wife found it too expensive. ”May I ask how much it was?”

He knew his wife, and a common price wouldn’t scare her.

”Fifteen thousand a bottle,” Wei Zhongxun said.

At this price, even Cheng ZhenGuo couldn’t help but gasp. Fei Xueqin’s medicine had initially been sold for eight thousand per bottle, which he already thought was expensive, but he didn’t expect this medication to be nearly half again as much!

No wonder his wife backed off at the thought.

Mrs. Cheng’s mind was still muddled, but while others spoke, she eventually processed what was said. Wasn’t the Wei Family a major lineage in the Mystic Doctor world? Why would a Wei Family disciple take a young woman as their master?

At this moment, Cheng ZhenGuo was decisive, ”If this medicine is effective, I want to buy it now!”

Any price was worth it if it could save his son.

But Wei Zhongxun shook his head, ”It is definitely effective, but the issue is whether my master is willing to treat him. Your wife treated my master with such a manner, and her words even carried insult. Even a clay figurine has some temper!”

He had later asked Nian Fanghua about it and knew how Beisitian felt insulted by those words, which made him quite angry. He wanted to go to the Cheng Family to address it, but Beisitian stopped him. It would’ve been unreasonable to make a fuss at someone’s house over this, and entirely unnecessary.

Upon hearing this, Cheng ZhenGuo frowned, about to inquire further about what happened, when he received a call from home. Hearing the content, his expression changed dramatically.

Cheng Tianji was in critical condition!
