I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 559: Chapter 558: The Other Party’s Identity

Multiple organ failure?!

Beisitian was shocked. This situation was extremely dangerous, especially when the child was malnourished.

”The rescue was successful, but the body became more frail. That day, I noticed Doctor Bei’s keen interest in such conditions, so I used some connections to find that lady and explained Doctor Bei’s situation to her. She agreed, but...”

Nian Fanghua gave a bitter smile, ”Because the situation about you can’t be said openly, so...”

So the agreement was reluctant, mainly because there was no other option. It was a situation of treating a dead horse as if it were alive. Otherwise, neither Nian Fanghua’s influence nor even Ma Tianlai’s influence would be enough. Ma Tianlai’s influence, however significant, was limited to Hong Kong, and this lady’s husband was a major official!

Didn’t you notice that even Madam Yun didn’t dare to casually introduce a doctor? If a mistake occurred, it would be a huge trouble.

Madam Yun was the wife of the municipal party secretary, which Beisitian knew. Hence, it seemed the child’s parents must hold a position even higher than the municipal party secretary, which made Madam Yun so cautious.

”Do you know specifically who they are?” Beisitian asked.

”I don’t know, just that they are a high-ranking local official. They’re in Beijing this time specifically to seek medical treatment, but it’s very confidential. Not many people know; only a few wealthy ladies are aware, and they’re cautious about opportunistic individuals, so they’re taking a proactive approach,” Nian Fanghua explained.

Beisitian understood what she meant, that they wouldn’t dare use a doctor who approached them on their own.

This was understandable too; whose child isn’t precious to them? Politics itself is a sensitive issue; naturally, those in high positions consider such matters more carefully.

”Their proactive approach is to seek out some individuals with high status and power to inquire. I just happened to come across the opportunity to speak and mentioned your situation to that lady,” Nian Fanghua explained.

Originally, because Beisitian was very interested, she wanted to see if she could demonstrate her own value. Later, knowing the unusual status of the other party, she didn’t dare act rashly. Afraid of causing more harm than good, it was only under a coincidental opportunity that she mentioned Beisitian’s situation when discussing doctors with them.

But even when she spoke at that time, no one knew that she already knew about the lady’s son’s condition. Even so, the first time she finished talking, that lady didn’t even ask a single question and let it pass.

At that time, Nian Fanghua basically gave up, knowing that being too proactive would only make her appear suspicious, unable to help Doctor Bei, and possibly causing trouble for her.

Unexpectedly, later, the child suddenly entered the intensive care unit. The rescue was successful, but the doctors said such failure was hard to reverse unless the child could eat normally, which was the only way to keep the child.

A single phrase ’the only way to keep the child’ caused the parents to lose their composure. Now, even if there was a sliver of hope, they wanted to seize it, so that lady thought of Nian Fanghua.

At that time, Nian Fanghua spoke from her own experience, sharing how her son was cured, all the while praising Beisitian but pretending not to be very familiar, stating that a hefty amount was spent since others couldn’t cure her son, yet this young-looking doctor managed to do so.

The lady didn’t make a sound back then because she thought what Nian Fanghua said was too exaggerated, doubting internally, so naturally, she didn’t ask more.

Later, due to the doctor’s words, that lady felt unsettled, grabbing at any possible cure, leading her to consider Nian Fanghua. Whether or not what Nian Fanghua said was exaggerated, her son indeed recovered!

Since the lady actively reached out to Nian Fanghua, why did Nian Fanghua still say the agreement was reluctant? Because that lady repeatedly inquired about Beisitian’s age and origins, becoming particularly hesitant. If not for Nian Fanghua suggesting ’try it first and see’, the lady might still have refused in the end.

”Doctor Bei, are you planning to go?” Nian Fanghua asked.

She speculated that Beisitian was interested in the matter and also guessed that the person was a high-ranking official, which not only matched Beisitian’s interest but also allowed her to meet some political figures.

Of course, that was under the condition that everything went smoothly and Beisitian could cure the child.

Beisitian nodded, ”Let’s take a look.”

Nian Fanghua smiled, ”When would be convenient for you?”

Though asking like this, it would still mainly depend on the other party’s schedule. Such minor details particularly highlight the statuses of both parties.

Beisitian understood this reasoning well, never caring about such matters, and since she currently had plenty of time, she said, ”Anytime is fine, let’s see what suits them. Oh, just don’t schedule anything for this Sunday, I have plans.”

This Sunday, she was accompanying Luo Xuping to his tutor’s house. Since it was his first visit, a parent was expected to accompany him.

Nian Fanghua acknowledged and mentioned she had discussed this matter with Ma Tianlai before. Since neither party objected, it was considered settled. She intended to inform Ma Tianlai again once she left.

With more people involved, they could anticipate more, mentioning precautions in advance.

Ma Tianlai was happy to know about the situation; since even the municipal party secretary had to be considerate, the official must be significant. If they genuinely became a backer, it would make future business dealings much smoother, facing fewer obstacles and troubles.

The other party seemed rather anxious. Once Nian Fanghua communicated, they responded immediately, wanting Beisitian to visit the next day.

They didn’t expect much from Beisitian, but currently, there were very few doctors available. Colleagues with power and influence around them also hadn’t responded.

Beisitian had no objections, and since Nian Fanghua was a straightforward person, she came the next morning to pick up Beisitian.

Since the others were officials who paid attention to appearance, Beisitian also paid attention to her appearance. Even though she was pregnant, she didn’t want to appear sloppy, so she freshened up and dressed in a large-sized dress with a Chinese-style suit touch.

The dress was mainly navy blue with intricate floral patterns embroidered around the collar and front, adding a touch of elegance without losing seriousness. This dress was a Yunyi creation, though not designed by Beisitian.

It was the designers who drew inspiration from Beisitian’s past designs to create it, and it looked quite good. When Peng Baocheng made this dress, he sent five different dresses to Beisitian, as a thank you for inspiring the designers.

Frankly speaking, it was because Peng Baocheng had a change of mindset, making this gesture, which had a flattering implication.

Nian Fanghua observed that even with her pregnancy, Beisitian still exuded elegance, astonishing anyone who saw her.
