I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 567: Chapter 566: Off-Brand

After Beisitian left, Teacher Qiu began instructing Luo Xuping. She asked Luo Xuping a few questions, which he answered correctly, so she increased the difficulty a bit, leaving Luo Xuping somewhat dumbfounded.

Seeing this, Teacher Qiu chuckled, having almost gauged Luo Xuping’s level, and prepared to start tutoring him. Two hours went by quickly; although Luo Xuping was a bit behind, he studied very earnestly, and his mind was quite nimble, making it easy for her to tutor him.

Teacher Qiu was quite pleased to see this. It’s not the lack of foundation that’s concerning, but rather a lack of seriousness, and now Luo Xuping was both serious and quick-witted, which meant his progress could be swift.

A tutor’s students progress quickly, directly reflecting the tutor’s capabilities, which naturally makes her happy.

At eleven thirty, Luo Xuping went home for lunch. As an eight-year-old handling things on his own, Teacher Qiu was still somewhat uneasy.

”It’s okay, I’m a man, you can rest assured,” Luo Xuping said, amusing Teacher Qiu with his demeanor.

After Luo Xuping left, Teacher Qiu returned home to prepare lunch. Her husband came back at noon and, seeing a gift box on the table, picked it up and asked, ”What’s this?”

Teacher Qiu replied while tying an apron, ”Something a student’s parent gave me, saying it’s herbal cuisine that can clear the lungs, moisten the throat, and stop coughing.”

Her husband tossed it back onto the table, ”It’s nothing special. I’ve never even heard of this Heavenly Blessing brand. If it were Tian’s Herbal Cuisine, it’d be acceptable.”

Teacher Qiu smiled, ”It’s just a kind gesture from them. Tian’s Herbal Cuisine is quite expensive; just one box costs over thirty!”

She had looked into it earlier; it doesn’t contain preservatives, with an expiration of around three to four days. Just right, since she’s been having a bit of a cough and her throat’s felt uncomfortable, she can drink it. Regardless of the price, it’s bought with money, which prevents waste.

A box contains four small cups, and the packaging is quite nice—just right for gifting and looks prestigious. Unfortunately, it’s a generic brand.

Currently, several herbal cuisine brands in the market are quite good, including Jin Sui Medicine, Mei Jia Mei Medicine, and Tian’s Herbal Cuisine, which are relatively renowned. Additionally, there are a few nice food brands that do well too; one really hasn’t heard of Heavenly Blessing.

Teacher Qiu didn’t care much about this; after all, she charged for tutoring, and tuition wasn’t cheap. This was merely a small gesture from a parent.

Luo Xuping’s tutoring matter was settled, and Beisitian could finally relax—so long as he put in effort, first-grade coursework remained quite simple.

That day, Nian Fanghua suddenly received a call from Mrs. Cheng, inviting her to play mahjong. Her heart skipped a beat; could Mrs. Cheng still have the mood to play mahjong?

Moreover, Mrs. Cheng’s tone seemed rather cheerful; did her son recover?

Nian Fanghua felt uncertain inside, but Ma Tianlai advised her to go.

”She must want to tell you something; that’s why she’s inviting you. Regardless, since she reached out, we shouldn’t refuse and risk offending her. However, you might have to endure some grievance this time.”

Nian Fanghua laughed, ”As long as the grievance isn’t major, I can tolerate some sarcastic remarks. After all, it was my recklessness that dragged Doctor Bei into this controversy.”

Remembering what Mrs. Cheng said to Doctor Bei, even she felt angry; Mrs. Cheng actually asked if Doctor Bei was short of money—now it’s revealed what talismanic water’s true worth is, yet she hesitates to pay.

So Nian Fanghua went. Arriving there, it wasn’t genuinely mahjong but a chat among several high-society ladies, where she spotted Madam Yun among them.

Madam Yun was surprised to see Nian Fanghua; she had a good memory and recalled this pregnant lady as reportedly a doctor.

Mrs. Cheng merely nodded at Nian Fanghua, her demeanor indifferent, then turned to converse with the others.

Nian Fanghua wore a composed smile, sitting to the side, not initiating conversation with the wealthy women, just listening to their chat.

”You can finally relax a bit; you’ve been quite worried over Tianji these last few years,” a noblewoman remarked.

Another chimed in, ”Indeed, now that someone capable of treating Tianji has been found, we can all breathe easier. Such a young child, yet he endures such immense hardship!”

Nian Fanghua hesitated briefly; then it clicked. Mrs. Cheng invited her just to relay a message to Beisitian—they didn’t need her, and could heal their son without her help.

This was precisely Mrs. Cheng’s intention. To approach Beisitian directly would lack dignity, and clinging to her status, it would appear childish. Yet, unable to swallow this bitterness, she called upon Nian Fanghua to subtly let her listen, intending it to eventually reach Beisitian’s ears.

”Sister Cheng, who is this doctor?” Madam Yun inquired.

Mrs. Cheng put down her teacup, chuckling, ”It’s someone my husband found after a lot of networking—a uniquely gifted doctor, rumored to be of high eminence. The medication he uses differs from anything we’ve tried, said to be colorless, resembling plain water, yet tremendously effective!”

”Medications like those exist?”

”Indeed, never heard of such remedies in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Had the madam not mentioned it, we wouldn’t believe it.”

The noblewomen were astonished, aware that if someone else said it, one might merely listen casually, but since Mrs. Cheng said it, it’s different—especially because her husband found the person, it must be real.

Nian Fanghua’s hand twitched listening, almost spilling her tea. Isn’t this exactly Mystic Doctor’s tale!

No one noticed her expression except Madam Yun, who discreetly observed, even though Nian Fanghua quickly concealed her shock; it didn’t escape her notice.

This person knows what that medicine is!

Madam Yun immediately assessed, since someone familiar with the medicine must also know the individual’s identity. She actually knew. Knowing, she realized that Nian Fanghua did too.

But how does a Hong Kong businesswoman’s wife know about such covert matters?

Madam Yun felt curious, deciding to be mindful while also puzzled about why Mrs. Cheng invited Nian Fanghua to listen to such confidential matters.

Apparently intentionally mentioned before her, is Mrs. Cheng wishing to communicate through her?

Nian Fanghua hadn’t planned to inform Beisitian originally; needlessly adding to her troubles, but now she had no choice, because it involves Mystic Doctor, making this information critically important.

Finding herself restless, Nian Fanghua sought an excuse to apologize to Mrs. Cheng and left.

Mrs. Cheng smirked slightly, eager to witness Beisitian’s frustrated expression.
