I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 565: Chapter 564: True Value

Fifteen thousand a bottle?!!

Pffft...

Nian Fanghua had just taken a sip of tea when she spat it out. Next to her, Mrs. Cheng had just picked up her tea, and upon hearing this amount, her hand trembled, spilling some of the hot liquid onto her skin, which immediately turned red.

Mrs. Cheng couldn’t be bothered about the pain on the back of her hand, nor did she notice how inelegant Nian Fanghua’s reaction was. She stared at Beisitian in disbelief, asking again, ”How much did you say?”

”Fifteen thousand a bottle,” Beisitian said calmly.

After thinking it through that day, she no longer wanted to deliberately do anything. In her past life, her talismanic water was worth a fortune, and here, after considering many factors, she charged several thousand yuan only from major figures like Peng Baolai and Ma Tianlai. For others, such as the patients at the 232 Military District Hospital and other patients, she didn’t charge anything outside of the herbs if they provided it themselves.

But it was obvious that this wouldn’t work; if you wanted your skills to be acknowledged, the most direct way was through the price!

The reason she started considering maximizing the value of her talismanic water was due to what happened at Mrs. Cheng’s place. Mrs. Cheng doubted everything, questioning the efficacy of her talismanic water and even wanting others to affirm it for peace of mind.

Beisitian indeed had an interest in such medical cases, but she wasn’t that cheap, where she would pursue others against their will!

But Beisitian wouldn’t just leave in a huff either. After all, she was already there, and not seeing the patient would be a wasted effort!

Moreover, though she wasn’t extraordinarily cultured or magnanimous, she wasn’t narrow-minded either. Many of Mrs. Cheng’s actions, had she been in her place, she might have done the same.

”Doctor Bei, isn’t this taking advantage of people in their time of need?” Mrs. Cheng’s face was devoid of any smile in her anger.

Beisitian slightly furrowed her brows and turned to Wei Zhongxun, saying, ”Bring my list.”

Wei Zhongxun nodded and went to the bedroom to fetch the list. He had seen it before but didn’t know its purpose at the time. Only now did he realize it was for the auxiliary herbs used to make the talismanic water!

He scanned the list in his hand, utterly shocked at the sheer number of auxiliary herbs?! With so many herbs, even if given three days, he wouldn’t be able to add them all into a single batch of talismanic water. Time constraints aside, he simply didn’t have that speed!

Before seeing this list, he couldn’t even believe that any Mystic Doctor could accomplish such a feat!

Wei Zhongxun handed the auxiliary list to Beisitian, his eyes still filled with astonishment. ”Master, your list.”

Mrs. Cheng heard this unique address and glanced at Wei Zhongxun, realizing he was an exceptionally handsome young man. This Doctor Bei, at such a young age, had already started taking students; it seemed she was so praised that she had lost her bearings!

She thought of Du Kai Bo, guessing he also acted this way because of Beisitian’s association with the Tian Family.

”My medicine is not easy to make. Here is the list of auxiliary ingredients for it. The first bottle, which I gave to your son for free, contains only what’s listed on this sheet, merely the auxiliary parts.”

Beisitian gently pushed the list forward and continued, ”The reason for gifting the first bottle to your son is twofold: one, because I’m interested in this medical condition, and two, for pitying that child. Hence, I didn’t charge a penny.”

Beisitian wasn’t trying to prove anything; rather, she wanted the other party to understand the value of the medicine.

Mrs. Cheng took the list and looked it over, recognizing some herbs, understanding that indeed the drug wasn’t cheap. However, it shouldn’t be that expensive!

Some imported medicines costing two or three hundred yuan already make ordinary people balk, as such sums might constitute two or three months’ salary for a typical family.

Her family might not care about that bit of money, but she couldn’t accept a sum over ten thousand, especially when she felt these herbs weren’t worth that much. Look at the quantities taken—it was just a little, no bigger than a fingernail. Even a five-hundred-year-old ginseng might cost thousands, yet it would translate to so little, let alone the question of its efficacy.

Seeing her still angry after going through the list, Beisitian understood she didn’t comprehend, so she said nothing more and put the list away. This was her conclusion, meant to be passed on to her apprentices in the future.

”That bottle of medicine can sustain the body’s needs for a few days, but it can only replenish some previous deficits.” Beisitian suggested she hire someone else soon; since there’s reluctance, she of course wouldn’t force it.

Beisitian’s talismanic water for the young man wasn’t absorbed in one go but could be continuously absorbed over three to five days, depending on personal constitution and absorption effects.

Those who absorbed it well would see effects in three days; those who didn’t in five days. The results varied, but as long as there weren’t any repelling charm phenomena, it could at least meet the body’s needs.

Right now, the reason the young man remained bedridden, afraid of how arduous even walking might be, compounded by his multiple organ failures, meant he was confined to bed. Evading life-threatening danger was only temporary.

Beisitian’s talismanic water had extended his time considerably, enhancing his vitality for a period. She wasn’t keen on engaging in thankless tasks. Having done this, she felt she had done her part for the young man!

Mrs. Cheng’s face was livid, still feeling that Beisitian was taking advantage of others. She had only come because the medicine showed its effects, and her child was willing to take it; she hadn’t expected Beisitian to be so ungrateful!

She didn’t have the time to deal with such petty people; everything would wait until her son was treated!

Mrs. Cheng left in fury, and Beisitian sighed. If not for Mrs. Cheng’s initial skepticism and extremely rude attitude toward her, which exhausted Beisitian’s patience, she wouldn’t have achieved this realization.

The price of fifteen thousand wasn’t recklessly set. To infuse these eighty-eight herbs before completing the talismanic ceremony consumed more spirit than any previous time. Moreover, she even used a trace of Original Essence Qi Spirit to ensure immediate effectiveness.

In truth, the price of fifteen thousand isn’t high!

It’s just that others don’t understand the underlying value.

Nian Fanghua was speechless for a long time, but she already knew Beisitian’s true identity. Given the medicine’s effectiveness, she didn’t think Beisitian was taking advantage; previously she might have.

Nevertheless, this matter ended up being a tricky one; she sighed; it was unavoidable.

Given such treatment and words from Mrs. Cheng, Doctor Bei had been extremely genteel even to take it this far. She was a Mystic Doctor, and which Mystic Doctor wasn’t immensely proud, with their eyes high up in the sky? Doctor Bei had the exceptional skills outshining others but remained modest and polite, which was indeed rare.
