I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 586: Chapter 585: It Should Be a Buffet

Mei Zhiwei wants Luo Xinfang to ask her former colleague who has already resigned if they can get an invitation from the Tian Family. He heard that the old gentleman from the Wei Family would attend, and those two geniuses from the Wei Family would also be there. Maybe Wei Zhongxun’s mysterious master would appear too.

Luo Xinfang feels quite troubled. The person is heavily pregnant, and still worrying about these sorts of things for your family. Mei Zhiwei hasn’t considered the feelings of others at all.

Luo Jiali also sighed. Now, the younger aunt is part of the in-laws, and if they issue something, refusing or practicing deceit too often will surely be noticed. Then, maybe she will be disliked by the in-laws. The Luo Family’s base is in Shanghai, far away and unable to wield significant influence.

”Aunt, go and ask Beibei. If Beibei refuses you, you’ll have something to report back.” Luo Jiali said, suggesting that at that time, simply talk to Beisitian and directly refuse.

Luo Xinfang sighed and said: ”That’s all I can do. But she is no longer a colleague and is pregnant. Frequently bothering her with such things feels inappropriate, and it concerns how others perceive me.”

Finally, with no other choice, Luo Xinfang went to visit Beisitian. It had been a long time, and she couldn’t go empty-handed. She bought some fruits and nutritional products to visit Beisitian.

After explaining the purpose, Beisitian smiled. The Mei Family’s repeated attempts to probe couldn’t escape her notice. However, this publicity event is very important. She didn’t want to invite any unknown individuals, so she cooperated with Luo Jiali in rejecting Luo Xinfang.

Luo Xinfang smiled wryly. The result was already discussed, but she had to make this trip.

The matters involving the Mei Family were shared by Beisitian with Wu Yuekai, asking him to help investigate, then inform Zhou Quan to keep a watch around and see if there were any fluctuations.

Prior to this, if the Mei family had been quick to act because of the Mystic Doctor’s apprentice ceremony, this time they didn’t reveal anything externally. Except for the Wei Family and the Mystic Doctor, there was no connection; yet, the Wei Family regularly appeared at various gatherings.

Without revealing any clues, how did the Mei Family focus on them?

Being low-profile has its advantages. Regardless of the Mei family’s intentions, they surely didn’t expect to directly run into Beisitian, the principal party.

The publicity event was scheduled to begin at 6:30 PM. On Sunday, Beisitian woke up early, washed up, and dressed.

Though she was the major shareholder of Heavenly Blessing, she didn’t plan to be too prominent because of her heavy pregnancy. She handed the responsibility over to Ma Tianlai, as this time it was medicated cuisine being promoted, not her.

She still wore the dress from Yunyi, which was a red and white gown for this occasion, made to accommodate her size. The top was a white V-neck blouse with delicate red floral patterns at the collar and front, not appearing too garish or heavy, retaining formal but with a hint of stylish casualness.

The lower part was a large red skirt, which complemented the publicity event, giving off a festive air.

Beisitian’s belly had grown significantly by now. Regardless of the clothes, her belly was prominent, so she didn’t try to conceal it.

With Ma Tianlai directing things at the venue, Beisitian decided not to worry about that aspect and didn’t arrive too early. She quietly waited until after four in the afternoon. Chen Jinliang came to pick her up.

Ma Tianlai had intended to send a car, but Chen Jinliang suggested it would be better for him to come. With so many people at the publicity event, he felt safer following her. Li Yunfeng also accompanied them.

Upon arriving at the venue, Beisitian did not go directly to the hall but first went to the VIP lounge, specially prepared by Ma Tianlai.

Accompanying her were Wei Zhongyuan and Wei Zhongxun, and Tian Zhi. Wei Zhongxun and Tian Zhi appeared as her disciples first, before acknowledging their respective family backgrounds, which is normal. Wei Zhongyuan did not appear as a Wei Family member but rather alongside Beisitian.

The timing was still early, with guests yet to arrive. Ma Tianlai came to the VIP lounge and said to Beisitian, ”Doctor Bei, Secretary Cheng ZhenGuo expressed through Dean Du that he hopes to attend this publicity event as well. I’ve given him an invitation.”

”I understand, it’s beneficial for us.” Beisitian replied, noting the influence of someone like Cheng ZhenGuo, the provincial secretary. It’s substantial. Plus, Cheng ZhenGuo was not a Military Department person, counting as the first prominent individual she knew politically.

Ma Tianlai shared this view and, given the close relationship now, made the executive decision directly.

Noticing the time was about right, Ma Tianlai left the VIP lounge to welcome guests. As someone willing to represent Beisitian visibly, this had considerable advantages for him as well. Moreover, he was adept at managing such situations as it happened that he was a big player himself.

The National Guest Banquet Hall was large enough to accommodate seven to eight hundred people comfortably without feeling crowded. Currently, it didn’t have a flashy feel due to Ma Tianlai’s redecoration efforts.

The current style conveyed grandeur and sophistication. The overall light silver decor felt chic, neither wealthy nor vulgar, nor plain and simple. Ma Tianlai invested quite a bit of effort in the venue decoration.

In the hall, there were fifteen large tables, each speced for eight people. The tablecloths were deep sea blue, while the chairs wore white covers, with deep sea blue ribbons cinched at the chair backs to complement the tables.

Such banquet hall set with these tables and chairs made the whole event appear classy yet devoid of that excessive lavishness, leaving attendees quite impressed by the ambiance.

Many companies attended, many of them well-known large enterprises, largely due to Ma Tianlai’s influence. After all, Beisitian’s name wasn’t widely recognized to them, yet they knew this gathering would feature many prominent figures beyond what Boss Ma could attract.

These corporate leaders had access to vast information, aware that Ma Tianlai was merely working on behalf of someone at this publicity event. They were curious about who could compel such a big boss like Ma Tianlai to work willingly — a person of extraordinary capability, not only managing Ma Tianlai but drawing in a multitude of influential figures.

With half an hour remaining before the banquet began, Ma Tianlai still mingled among the guests, not sticking to anyone, indicating the particular individual hadn’t yet appeared.

Shao Simin wore a V-neck royal blue gown that showcased her flawless figure, standing beside Luo Xuhua — truly a match made in heaven, difficult to believe she already had such a grown son.

Shao Simin often accompanied Luo Xuhua to several banquets, being well-versed in handling such events. She wore a suitable smile instinctively yet found the whole banquet hall a bit baffling internally.

Looking around at so many listed joint-stock corporate heads and even a few from state-owned enterprises, adopting such dated dining table format makes interpersonal communication cumbersome at such events.

Banquets of this stature should ideally have a buffet setup.
