I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 566: Chapter 565: What Gift Is Appropriate

Beisitian showed no emotion towards Mrs. Cheng’s departure; all she did was reveal the true value of the talismanic water to her.

”Doctor Bei, this matter... I was too reckless.” Nian Fanghua sighed.

Beisitian smiled, ”What does this have to do with you, don’t think too much about it.”

The doctor-patient relationship is sometimes inherently difficult to coordinate. Nian Fanghua’s original intention was from Beisitian’s perspective, and she understood that.

Seeing that Beisitian was really not angry, Nian Fanghua felt relieved. However, she was more worried about that official; if he were narrow-minded, there might be some trouble.

Nian Fanghua left to discuss with Ma Tianlai, feeling she had botched the matter.

When only Beisitian and Wei Zhongxun were left in the hall, Wei Zhongxun spoke.

”Master, the talismanic water you gave to that child with anorexia was fused with eighty-eight kinds of Chinese herbal medicine?” He asked incredulously, although he already had the answer in mind, he wanted to hear Beisitian confirm it.

”Yes.” Beisitian replied, giving him a glance, ”If you continue to slack off, you might have to wait until you’re ninety to achieve this level.”

Ninety years old...

Wei Zhongxun was speechless; could he even live that long?

”Master, I never knew so many herbs could be used as an aid. Previously, when I used the talisman medium for Spiritual Pointing, I could integrate up to six types, which was already more than anyone else in the Wei Family except for my grandfather and elder brother. That’s why I became the heir of the Wei Family!”

Beisitian’s mouth twitched. Although it was due to the loss of the Mystic Doctor heritage leading to the current decline, the talent of the heirs played a great role. Many Mystic Doctor families or factions would establish someone as an heir regardless of their talent to expand their influence.

It’s like the Left-wing faction of Tao Hailin. She hadn’t met their other disciples, but the one she almost bumped into had poor spirit. Even drinking Beisitian’s special talismanic water wouldn’t let him reach Spiritual Talisman.

But it’s said that person was a direct member of a family business, probably why Tao Hailin took him as a disciple.

In her previous life, Beisitian was probably a year or two older than Wei Zhongxun when she became a Mystic Doctor. The first time she successfully achieved a Spiritual Talisman, she used twenty-seven herbs!

At her peak, she could integrate three hundred and seventy-seven kinds of herbs!

It’s not the number of herbs integrated that determines the potency of talismanic water. Some herbs mutually restrain each other, while others enhance effects. This highlights the importance of a foundation in Chinese medicine.

Mystic Doctoring is a highly complex profession; the combination and dosage of these herbs must be extremely precise. Otherwise, it won’t be effective and could even harm the talisman maker’s spiritual power.

Beisitian’s current limit is one hundred and seven. Exceeding this number strains her greatly; even if successful while ensuring quality, she needs a long rest period, similar to what happened during the previous treatment.

”Don’t worry about how many herbs you can integrate now, just follow the progress I’ve set for you step by step. Your foundation is decent, and with the special talismanic water I’ve given you, if you work hard, you might achieve a Spiritual Talisman in your early thirties,” Beisitian said.

Wei Zhongxun was immediately overjoyed. Early thirties, that would be about the same as his elder brother, and maybe even earlier!

”I’m visiting Ping’an’s tutor at home tomorrow; what gift should I bring?” Beisitian asked.

Tomorrow was Luo Xuping’s tutoring day, and Beisitian thought it necessary to bring some gifts for their first meeting to ensure the tutor would be more attentive.

She was considering what to bring. Something too expensive wasn’t necessary since they had already paid a substantial fee, ten yuan per session, twenty yuan for two daily, which wasn’t cheap.

Hence, Beisitian planned to bring small gifts or snacks, naturally leading her to think of medicinal cuisine. A pot of moisturizing pear juice should be suitable as well.

Ready-made products didn’t seem appropriate and were prone to spoil, so she decided to bring Heavenly Blessing half-processed products as both a gift and promotion.

After some thought, Beisitian decided on Intermediate Medicine Cuisine after all. Given they were teaching Luo Xuping’s tutor, it shouldn’t be too shabby, and she had some readily available.

Early the next morning, Beisitian got up to prepare for Luo Xuping, who, despite his dark complexion, had prominent eyebrows and big eyes. He stayed clean and tidy, unlike the derogatory names students used for their amusement.

Luo Xuping was quite nervous but was determined not to disgrace his family or sister, striving to study well and be as capable as his brother and sister.

The tutor’s surname was Qiu, a man in his thirties, living in the school’s teacher dormitory, where many families occupied a single hallway. Teacher Qiu’s family consisted of three people in a standard two-bedroom, one-living-room unit of over fifty square meters, suitable for a family of three.

The cooking area was in the hallway, making it appear more crowded.

Although Teacher Qiu’s home wasn’t large, it was tidy, with numerous certificates on the walls, like ”Outstanding Teacher” and ”Model Teacher.” The table also featured photos and trophies, indicating a person full of honors.

Teacher Qiu warmly welcomed them, ”Come in, have some water, and then I’ll ask some questions so we can start.”

Seeing her go to make tea, Beisitian said, ”No need to trouble yourself. I’ll leave right after dropping off the child.”

Teacher Qiu glanced at her stomach and switched to pouring plain water, ”Sorry, I didn’t notice you were pregnant. Please have some plain water.”

After politely exchanging a few words, Beisitian prepared a gift box; it contained moisturizing pear juice with rock sugar, which included several herbs and Wei Zhongyuan’s talismanic water. It can be consumed directly or warmed up, having a pleasant sweet and sour taste.

”You didn’t have to bring a gift,” Teacher Qiu smiled. She glanced at the packaging; she hadn’t seen ”Heavenly Blessing” before, assuming it was food and not very valuable, so she accepted it.

”My brother has a weak foundation, and there weren’t good teachers in the town before. But he’s very diligent and earnest, so I hope you understand if he causes trouble,” Beisitian said.

”I know. Teacher Yuan already informed me about Luo Xuping’s situation,” Teacher Qiu reassured her with a warm smile.

After a brief conversation, recognizing the time’s value, Beisitian left. Luo Xuping was to study with Teacher Qiu for two hours before returning home for lunch, and then come back in the afternoon on his own.
