Peninsula: Director of Public Prosecutions Starts with Daily Intelligence

Real and fake Tang Baihu!”Prosecutor Li, this is the largest folk flea market in the area.”

Capital City, Gangnam District, folk flea market.

Lee Se-hyun was preparing to visit Director Zheng. System intelligence showed that he loved ancient paintings and even acted as a painter in his spare time.

So he had Cheng Du, a local, bring him to the antique trading market.

To try his luck.

The antique street, with stalls lined up along it, gave him the feeling of being in Chinatown. Most of the people there were Xia Country people, speaking broken The Peninsula language.

A strange phenomenon: most of the stall owners were Xia Country people, while all the customers were The Peninsula people.

”annyeonghaseyo! Little brother, look over here?” a vendor called out in The Peninsula language.

”All of my items are genuine Xia Country antiques, like Xizhou blue and white porcelain, coins...”

Lee Se-hyun stopped, picked up a coin, and asked, ”How much?”

The vendor saw that Lee Se-hyun was speaking English and had a bodyguard following him, so he was sure he had found a sucker. His eyes darted around, figuring out how to con him.

He’d fleece this foreigner!

The vendor didn’t answer. Instead, he pulled out a treasure from his bag and shouted, ”P-ge! Wang Hanjue dao le.”

”One hundred?” Lee Se-hyun gestured with one finger and then confirmed.

You’re using US dollars as the unit, treating him like a little sun, aren’t you?

”Yes, yes!” The small vendor, afraid that the foreigner in front of him wouldn’t understand the value, kept gesturing, ”Is Xia Country treasure!”

”P-ge! Is Xia Country awesome!”

”Honest?”

The small vendor exhausted his entire vocabulary, mixing various languages, and even said, ”Awesome semida!”

”Pfft...” Lee Se-hyun almost burst out laughing.

”You’re saying what you have in your hand is one of the twelve bronze animal heads of Xia Country, the pig zodiac?”

”Yes!”

”Uh... how do you speak Xia Country Language?” The small vendor was dumbfounded. Was today his lucky day? He actually met a foreigner who could speak Xia Country Language.

”Because I am a Xia Country person!”

”Dynasty!”

The small vendor was so shocked that he blurted out a national essence: ”You’re a Xia Country person? Get out! You’re wasting my time, expression!”

”Go somewhere cool and stay there!”

The small vendor thought today was his lucky day, but the big foreign sheep he almost had flew away, so he naturally didn’t give Lee Se-hyun a good look.

”You’re really greedy, selling a broken wooden statue for ten thousand US dollars. That’s ruthless!” Lee Se-hyun gave a thumbs up.

”Get out of here! Don’t disturb my business!”

The small vendor stood up, ready to kick him out. If it weren’t for the bodyguard following Lee Se-hyun, he would have pulled out a toy knife and stabbed him.

Cutting off someone’s livelihood is like killing their parents.

Lee Se-hyun wasn’t one to meddle in others’ affairs, anyway, this guy was scamming foreigners and sibal people.

After wandering for a long time, Lee Se-hyun still decided to find an antique shop and inquire about the situation.

Park Jeong-nam Antique Shop.

Park Jeong-nam? Why did that name sound so familiar? It seemed to be an authentic local The Peninsula antique shop.

Lee Se-hyun stopped, wanting to go in and find out more.

”annyeonghaseyo!”

A mixed accent. As soon as that sound came out, Lee Se-hyun could smell the scent of his hometown from afar.

Well! Another one opened by Xia Country people.

A bearded Little Old Man, with small eyes gleaming, sized up Lee Se-hyun and immediately made an analysis.

Suit! Young! Rich second generation! Sucker!

He also had a bodyguard behind him, also in a suit, looking like some second-generation from The Peninsula.

He could be slightly fleeced.

Analysis complete!

The Little Old Man spoke in broken The Peninsula language: ”May I ask what you are looking for, esteemed guest?”

”Our humble shop has a long heritage, a century-old establishment, honest dealings!”

”There’s nothing you can’t find, only what you can’t imagine.”

Goodness, he spoke those rhymes so smoothly, like he was studying for a postgraduate exam!

Lee Se-hyun got straight to the point: ”Boss, do you have any ink wash paintings here?”

”Yes, we do! Guaranteed!”

”Esteemed guest, please follow me!”

The Little Old Man then led Lee Se-hyun into a small exhibition hall.

”Boss, I didn’t expect your place to be quite large. You must have fleeced a lot of money over the years, haven’t you?”

Lee Se-hyun’s words were shocking. The Little Old Man was startled, but quickly reacted: ”Esteemed guest, what are you saying? We conduct honest business, our word is our bond.”

”We absolutely won’t resort to those low-class tactics. We don’t sell fakes, and we’ll compensate ten times the price for any fake.”

Lee Se-hyun nodded. Indeed, compensation of ten times the price for fakes, meaning ten fake items, right?

Antique shops like this are very deep. Even Uncle Pan would stumble, let alone Lee Se-hyun, who knew nothing about antiques.

Antiques in prosperous times, gold in chaotic times.

The value of antiques far exceeds their inherent worth; those who know, know.

”Esteemed guest, please take a look. This painting is a masterpiece by Tang Yin, a famous painter from the Former Tang period of Xia Country.”

”sunset glow and lone wild goose painting.”

Lee Se-hyun looked at the sunset wild geese painting in his hand and couldn’t help but sigh. It was indeed beautiful, whether it was real or fake was secondary; he could buy it as decoration.

”How much?”

The Little Old Man was stunned. English? Could he have encountered a big fat sheep?

He had to really fleece him, to really hit him hard.

Miss this village, and there won’t be this shop.

”Esteemed guest, one look and you know your stuff. You are not a Xia Country person, so you don’t know that this Tang Yin is very famous in our Xia Country.”

The Little Old Man’s eyes darted around and he added, ”It’s... it’s like your Western Fantaqi, or Picasso.”

”I see you genuinely want it, so a flat price!”

”One million US dollars!”

”How much?”

Lee Se-hyun picked at his ear and said, ”I didn’t hear clearly just now. Come on, if you have the guts, say it again?”

The Little Old Man was a bit embarrassed, saying that perhaps he had asked too high a price, it was indeed a bit exaggerated. Wasn’t he treating him like a little sun?

At least he could speak The Peninsula language, maybe he was a local, so it was better to be a bit more restrained.

”Five hundred thousand US dollars!”

”You mlg...”

Lee Se-hyun directly grabbed the Little Old Man’s collar, letting him experience the feeling of flying through the air.

”You old geezer, treating me like a little sun, are you?”

”Hey, hey, hey!” The Little Old Man took flight and exclaimed, ”If you don’t want to sell, then don’t sell, why get physical! Be careful or I’ll call the police!”

”I’ll tell this whole street, haven’t you heard, my name ’Antique Tang San Dao’ isn’t just for show!”

”I advise you to let go immediately!”

Lee Se-hyun scoffed, ”Call the police? First, you’re selling fakes. Let’s see who you can call later.”

”The phone is right here, call whoever you want!”

”You damn well let me go first!”

”Oh, my old butt!”

Lee Se-hyun suddenly let go, and the Little Old Man fell hard, getting a mouthful of dirt.

”You just wait!” After uttering a threat, the Little Old Man seemed to make a phone call to summon people.

Crying and whining, acting pitiful, he made a flurry of calls.

”You called? You actually dared to call?” Lee Se-hyun laughed.

”Heh, now you want to back down? Too late!”

”I’ve already called the Eastern Police Precinct to report you for home invasion and robbery! And suspicion of murder!”

”Get ready to go to jail and eat prison food!” the Little Old Man shouted, extremely pleased, as if he had already seen Lee Se-hyun’s miserable fate.

Lee Se-hyun retorted, ”Is the Police Station yours? You say robbery, and it’s robbery? You even brought up murder, but you’re still alive and well. Who murdered you?”

”Young man, you don’t understand, do you? The underworld isn’t about fighting and killing; it’s about human relationships!”

”You have connections in jail?”

”What do you think?”

”Alright, alright!” Lee Se-hyun didn’t waste any more words and threatened, ”Call the Police Station again with your phone, I’ll answer.”

”What do you mean?” Under Cheng Du’s threatening gaze, the Little Old Man obediently dialed the number again and handed the phone to Lee Se-hyun.

”Hello! Sir, do you need anything else? We are currently dispatching officers, please wait a moment.”

”I am Prosecutor Li Shixian from the Seoul Central Prosecutor’s Office.”

”Pro... Prosecutor?”

”Notify Police Chief Cao of the Eastern Police Precinct to come to the folk antique market in Gangnam District to find me.”

”Beep beep...” The call was disconnected.

”Hello? Mr. Prosecutor, hello?” The operator was completely bewildered. What was going on? What happened?

The Little Old Man had a bad premonition. When Lee Se-hyun said the three words ’Prosecutor,’ the Little Old Man felt a chill to his core. A Prosecutor of the South Korea.

They were famous, even he, a Xia Country person, had heard of them. Things like ’execute first, report later,’ special permission from the beautiful daddy, just like the Embroidered Uniform Guard, very frightening.

The Little Old Man was also a shrewd person and quickly conceded, ”Th-that, Esteemed Prosecutor, this humble one knows his sin! This humble one was wrong!”

”Please spare this humble one’s dog life!”

”Now you’re backing down? Too late!”

The Little Old Man said, trembling with fear, ”Even if you are a Prosecutor, you can’t be so unreasonable! I didn’t force anyone to buy or sell, and I’m selling genuine products. What you’re doing isn’t right.”

”Who said what you’re selling is genuine?”

”What you’re selling is clearly fake!” A voice came from outside the door.
