Peninsula: Director of Public Prosecutions Starts with Daily Intelligence

Old senior! (Please read)“Administrative Officer Cheng, contact Prosecutor Seo Taesoo at the Capital City Eastern Prosecutor’s Office and tell him I need to speak with him.”

“Under what name, Prosecutor Li?”

“Just tell him his old senior from university wants to catch up. Surely he can’t refuse that, right?”

Lee Se-hyun muttered to himself. The Peninsula is a country that highly respects hierarchy, especially the relationships between superiors and subordinates, and seniors and juniors, which are particularly rigid.

When he was studying at Seoul University’s Law Department, Lee Se-hyun was one year ahead of Seo Taesoo, making him a true senior.

Someone like Yang Dong-cheol could, at most, be called an alumnus.

After everything was ready, Cheng Du drove the brand-new passat out of the garage, then got out and jogged to open the car door for Lee Se-hyun, carefully shielding the car roof.

“Thank you.” Lee Se-hyun nodded.

Cheng Du gripped the steering wheel. The car’s top-tier configuration, he thought, meant this passat cost at least a hundred units, and he couldn’t help but be surprised.

When did Prosecutor Li buy a car?

The reason Chungcheng is Chungcheng is that obeying orders is their sacred duty. Cheng Du didn’t say much, content to act as an Administrative Officer turned driver.

Lee Se-hyun closed his eyes in the back seat, deep in thought.

Yang Dong-cheol coming to see him today was most likely at Han Kang-sik’s instigation. According to the plot in the original TV series “The King,” this matter should have been handled by Yang Dong-cheol.

Councilman Song’s son, that evil sports teacher, Song Baekho.

Prosecutor Xu is the protagonist of the story, Seo Taesoo!

According to the plot, Seo Taesoo would eventually succumb to the temptations of power and beauty, losing his bottom line and principles, using Song Baekho as his initiation.

He would join Han Kang-sik’s Ark, gradually becoming obsessed with power and degenerating into a slave.

Lee Se-hyun couldn’t help but click his tongue. Thinking about it, resolving this Song Baekho matter isn’t actually difficult.

The important thing is, why did Han Kang-sik entrust this matter to him?

Why?

Lee Se-hyun’s mind raced. There could only be one truth: this Song Baekho incident was an assessment.

The examiner was Han Kang-sik.

The examinee was Lee Se-hyun!

It was to test Lee Se-hyun’s comprehensive qualities and his ability to handle matters.

Chief Prosecutor isn’t so easy to obtain. Han Kang-sik was right, one position for one person.

Promoting a newcomer like Lee Se-hyun, who had no foundation or experience and had only been there for two and a half years, would clearly not win over the public and would diminish his superior’s prestige.

More importantly, Han Kang-sik was afraid that Lee Se-hyun would make a mistake and be unable to control his subordinates, which would be more than just a matter of losing face.

If the Song Baekho matter is handled perfectly this time, it means he has passed the test.

The reward for a successful test is Chief Prosecutor!

Han Kang-sik could be said to have many flaws, but his political maneuvering skills were absolutely top-notch, and Lee Se-hyun couldn’t help but admire him.

Playing mind games with this group of people, he’d probably be sold out and still be counting the money.

Lee Se-hyun stated that in his previous life, he was just a liberal arts student, and the wickedness of this society really made him feel like he was treading on thin ice.

And there’s the System’s presence; otherwise, he wouldn’t even know how he died.

Lee Se-hyun silently recited in his heart, opening the virtual panel.

【Host: Lee Se-hyun】

【Daily Intel: None (Refreshable)】

【Does the Host wish to activate refresh?】

“Activate!”

Lee Se-hyun silently affirmed without hesitation.

【Ding! Refresh successful】

【Daily Intel: Park Ye-sol’s birthday wish is for her idol, Son Heung-min, to come cheer for her at the football match held at Sunflower Elementary School 15 days later.】

Uh… Lee Se-hyun’s mouth twitched. Why did he feel like he had refreshed a piece of trash intel?

This was completely unhelpful for his progress!

Park Ye-sol is Park Yeonjin’s younger sister. He didn’t expect such vanity at such a young age, no less than her older sister, Park Yeonjin.

Son Heung-min?

A very popular football star on The Peninsula. To put it this way, Son Heung-min’s status in The Peninsula’s football world is like Messi’s.

He’s one of the top athletes.

If Lee Se-hyun, a Prosecutor, were to invite him, he might not even bother with him.

He’s a sports superstar, highly sought after on The Peninsula, and backed by numerous influential figures.

To put it bluntly, a Prosecutor like Lee Se-hyun can only intimidate minor characters. Industry leaders like Son Heung-min don’t really give him face.

Prosecutors are also divided into different ranks. Lee Se-hyun’s type of grassroots Prosecutor belongs to the 99% of working-class people.

The other one percent, like Han Kang-sik and his group, are the true Prosecutors.

Lee Se-hyun stopped dwelling on this matter and focused on how to persuade Seo Taesoo next, which was the real priority.

Cheng Du drove very steadily, so much so that Lee Se-hyun almost leaned back and fell asleep in the back seat.

He truly lived up to his background as a Master Sergeant from Chungcheng, a professional who specialized in driving Hummers and armored vehicles.

This kind of treatment would normally only be enjoyed by high-ranking officials, but it was being enjoyed by a junior Prosecutor like Lee Se-hyun.

The passat drove all the way to an open-air wonton stall, which was the agreed-upon meeting place with Seo Taesoo.

“Prosecutor Li, we’ve arrived.” Cheng Du said softly.

Lee Se-hyun woke from his nap: “Oh, good.” He got out of the car, opened a bottle of mineral water, and poured it over himself to cool down, feeling much more awake.

He saw Seo Taesoo waiting at the stall early on. Lee Se-hyun quickly walked up to greet him: “Hello, Prosecutor Xu!”

“Prosecutor Li?” Seo Taesoo sized up his senior from the same Seoul University Law Department.

Lee Se-hyun had a refined appearance, stood eight feet tall, and had a very handsome face, giving off a warm, spring-breeze feeling as if bathed in sunlight. Simply put, he looked like a good person at first glance.

“Sorry to keep you waiting, there was a bit of traffic on the way, Prosecutor Xu.”

Cheng Du had driven very slowly to allow Lee Se-hyun to rest in the car, which caused Seo Taesoo and the others to wait for a while.

“It’s alright, I just arrived myself.” Seo Taesoo said politely, “Come try the wontons here on The Peninsula. My treat today!”

“Oh, there’s no reason for you to treat. I invited you, so it should definitely be my treat.” Lee Se-hyun immediately stated. Fighting to pay the bill is an art.

Generally speaking, the inviting party, who is also the one making a request, is naturally the one who pays the bill.

Seo Taesoo waved his hand: “What kind of senior lets his junior treat? Senior, don’t fight with me, your junior. If you keep fighting, I’ll get angry.” Seo Taesoo feigned anger.

Seeing this, Lee Se-hyun no longer insisted on paying.

The two sat on small stools, chatting about interesting things from their university days. Since their academic years weren’t too far apart, they had many common topics.

Their Administrative Officers/Clerks also sat on small stools in the distance, discussing trivial matters.

“Hey, Senior, why do you think this wonton stall is set up here?”

Seo Taesoo’s question stumped Lee Se-hyun.

Lee Se-hyun looked up and carefully observed his surroundings. What he saw was surprising: it was near a road tunnel, and the surrounding area was very desolate with hardly any pedestrian traffic.

There were basically no pedestrians; if there were people, they were in cars.

Normal people who open such food stalls usually choose large shopping malls, supermarkets, schools, or at the very least, near residential buildings.

Who would open one here?

Lee Se-hyun wondered, would anyone really come here to eat wontons? Just the constantly moving vehicles on the roadside, the dust they raised, and the exhaust fumes.

It would kill one’s appetite.

Lee Se-hyun then carefully looked at Seo Taesoo again. Hmm... there are still normal people.

“Why?” Lee Se-hyun cooperated.

Seo Taesoo’s opening remark was startling: “Because the stall owner was never a normal person!!”

Dynasty!
