Peninsula: Director of Public Prosecutions Starts with Daily Intelligence

Girls’ Generation? (Seeking follow-up reading)Prosecutor’s Office, indoor basketball court.

“Oh, isn’t this Chief Li?” a slick-haired Prosecutor mocked.

Outside the indoor basketball court, in the preparation room.

People came and went, then stopped in their tracks; there was a show to watch!

Lee Se-hyun looked at the stranger before him, wondering, “You are?”

This person had the typical Peninsula Country look, a 3-7 part, slightly handsome, but his slicked-back hair and powdered face were truly disgusting.

Could it be he’d smeared too much foundation on his face?

Lee Se-hyun truly couldn’t understand the Peninsula Country’s ’glass skin’ culture. Did they really think this made them look young, with tender, dewy skin?

He didn’t understand, but he respected it, alright.

Jiang Haoren scoffed, saying, “You don’t know me, but I know you!” He then introduced him to the crowd: “Hey! Everyone, look over here.”

“This is Chief Li, Prosecutor Li Jingxian, who has been practicing for two and a half years in our South Korea!”

“Everyone, a round of applause!”

Jiang Haoren maliciously led the crowd in applause, and a round of clapping immediately broke out.

Clap, clap, clap ~

Lee Se-hyun was bewildered. What was this all about? What was this slick-haired, powdered-face man up to?

Soon, Lee Se-hyun understood Jiang Haoren’s tactics.

When the crowd learned that Lee Se-hyun was the protagonist of the recent gossip, his popularity was soaring. Although they hadn’t seen him in person, everyone in the hall had heard his name.

Especially in the Strategy Department, Lee Se-hyun was practically a celebrity.

In the crowd, a Prosecutor muttered, “Hiss ~ Is this the Prosecutor Li with the incredible background and ruthless methods, who was promoted to Chief Prosecutor just two and a half years after joining the Prosecutor’s Office?”

“Terrifying! Truly terrifying ~”

“sibal! I worked myself to death like an ox for ten years to get transferred from a branch office, and I even sold my chastity for it. Why does he get it in two and a half years?!”

“Because he has connections and a network.”

“Sold chastity? siso!”

“How can there be such a parasite in our South Korea Prosecutor team! This society is beyond saving!”

“Don’t be a sour grape, acting all righteous! You wish you were that connected person yourself!”

“This is going to be fun to watch. Prosecutor Jiang seems to dislike him.”

“A dark horse appeared halfway, and the Chief Prosecutor position went up in smoke. If it were me, I wouldn’t be happy either.”

Gods fighting, mortals eating melons!

Listening to all the unpleasant mockery, Lee Se-hyun felt very uncomfortable. He really wanted to refute one thing.

Please! He really wasn’t a connected person! This Chief Prosecutor position was obtained by risking his life and threatening Han Kang-sik.

Besides, it wasn’t even finalized yet.

The baby felt wronged, but wouldn’t say it!

“Hey!” Yang Dong-cheol walked out from indoors and reprimanded, “What are you all chattering about?!”

“Keep quiet! The game is about to start.”

As soon as Yang Dong-cheol spoke, everyone wisely shut their mouths, not daring to whisper anymore.

This was the allure of a Chief Prosecutor’s power, like a poisoned wine or a beautiful woman, everyone wanted to possess it.

Yang Dong-cheol saw Lee Se-hyun in the crowd, extended a friendly gesture, and said with a smile, “Shixian, over here!”

“Old senior!” Lee Se-hyun smiled and waved in greeting.

Yang Dong-cheol seemingly reprimanded everyone for no reason, but in reality, he was helping Lee Se-hyun out of a difficult situation, which further solidified his reputation as a ’connected person’.

“Yang Dong-cheol.” Jiang Haoren’s tone was a bit poor as he asked, “Is this guy playing in the basketball game later?”

“This…” Yang Dong-cheol looked at Lee Se-hyun and asked, “Shixian, do you play basketball? Today’s basketball game was organized by Minister Han.”

Basketball game? No wonder he was asked to come to the indoor basketball court. It was well known that Han Kang-sik was a basketball fan, a loyal fan of the sport.

Every month, he would organize a basketball game, with players drawn from the Prosecutors within the Strategy Department, forming two luxurious Prosecutor teams.

As soon as he became a Minister, he started doing these things. He remembered that this used to be a badminton court, but now it was a basketball court.

Lee Se-hyun could also understand this. As his Imperial Uncle would say, after a lifetime of fighting, shouldn’t one enjoy themselves?

Bring on the music, bring on the dance!

Lee Se-hyun initially wanted to refuse, as he wasn’t very good at basketball, couldn’t sing, and certainly couldn’t rap.

“I don’t…”

Before he could finish, Jiang Haoren unexpectedly interrupted with a sneer, saying, “Oh, you don’t play basketball? What are you doing here?”

“Being a cheerleader? Cheerleading doesn’t accept men.”

As soon as these words were spoken, the atmosphere became highly charged. Everyone looked at Lee Se-hyun. This mockery was harsh, a direct gender attack, implying Lee Se-hyun wasn’t a real man.

Lee Se-hyun didn’t answer directly but retorted, “Are you participating too?”

“Of course I am! Who in the entire Prosecutor’s Office doesn’t know my title as ‘Basketball Prince’? If you’re scared, you can be a cheerleader.”

“Who says men can’t be cheerleaders?”

“I’ll participate!”

“You said… you said you’ll participate?” Jiang Haoren said in surprise.

Lee Se-hyun turned to Yang Dong-cheol and asked, “Old senior, is your basketball team still short on players this time?”

A man fights for his pride, a Buddha for his incense.

Seeing Yang Dong-cheol hesitate, Lee Se-hyun, with a straight face, said, “Speaking of singing and rap, I can’t do them, but… I know a little bit about basketball.”

Lee Se-hyun added, “I was on the high school basketball team in Pretty Country.”

“Basketball team?” Yang Dong-cheol asked in confusion, “Shixian, you even went to high school in Pretty Country?”

It wasn’t unheard of for people from The Peninsula to attend high school in Pretty Country, but it was as rare as a giant panda. Moreover, someone like Lee Se-hyun, who returned to study at university and work, was almost an endangered species.

Lee Se-hyun nodded and said, “My mother is from Pretty Country, and I lived in Pretty Country during high school.”

What Lee Se-hyun said was true. The original Prosecutor Brother was exceptionally intelligent from a young age and was adopted by an American. After graduating from high school, his American parents passed away.

That’s when he returned to Peninsula Country to attend university; otherwise, under normal circumstances, he would have become an American citizen.

Seeing Lee Se-hyun’s sincerity and enthusiasm, Yang Dong-cheol found it hard to refuse. After all, the person was Minister Han’s relative, so he had to show that much respect.

The basketball team had its fixed members; Minister Han was the captain, and Yang Dong-cheol was also on the team. He could only target the other three people.

He couldn’t possibly kick out Minister Han, could he? It was more likely he’d replace himself.

It’s decided! Piao Guochang!

Piao Guochang was also a member of the basketball team. Poor Guochang, he met his lifelong enemy!

Lee Se-hyun changed into the basketball team uniform. His number was eight, which was very auspicious, bringing great luck. Soon, he would… show that slick-haired, powdered-face Jiang Haoren a thing or two.

I don’t know how to play basketball? But I know how to hit people, don’t I?

First, a left hook, then a left kick, and finally a big slap, repeatedly.

A gentleman says, if you have a grudge, settle it on the spot, never overnight!

Lee Se-hyun, in his sportswear, stretched his muscles, warmed up, and walked onto the basketball court. Everyone was basically in position.

Han Kang-sik, Yang Dong-cheol… and that son of a b*tch Jiang Haoren.

Lee Se-hyun watched Jiang Haoren, who was already impatiently showing off on the court. Every time he made a shot, Jiang Haoren would toss his hair, and enough oil would fly off to cook a meal.

Laugh, keep laughing. Soon enough, you won’t be able to laugh anymore.
