Peninsula: Director of Public Prosecutions Starts with Daily Intelligence

Brother, I admit that I spoke a little loudly just now.“What kind of sibal nonsense is this?” Han Kang-sik looked at the emotional Lee Se-hyun, who was putting on a show of loyalty and integrity, and almost fell for it.

If Lee Se-hyun hadn’t blackmailed him for three million earlier, he would have actually believed this treacherous Lee Se-hyun.

Han Kang-sik said helplessly, “Shixian, it’s not that I don’t want to help you!”

“You have to know, Yang Dong-cheol has been with me for five years! A full five years!!! He’s only been at the Prosecutor’s Office for ten years in total, and he just became Chief Prosecutor.”

“You’ve only been here for two and a half years, three years at most. Even if I arbitrarily made you Chief Prosecutor, would others be convinced?”

“Young man, don’t be too impetuous. Take it one step at a time, and when the time is right, I will naturally promote you.”

Han Kang-sik left some things unsaid. Yang Dong-cheol was his dirty work, doing all the unpleasant and difficult tasks for five years, and had rendered great service.

What kind of person was Lee Se-hyun? He hadn’t accomplished anything, yet he immediately demanded the position of Chief Prosecutor.

His position as Minister had only just stabilized. Even the Chief Prosecutor wouldn’t dare to act so recklessly.

“If a young man isn’t impetuous, then is he still a young man?!!!”

Lee Se-hyun retorted directly. If he believed Han Kang-sik’s lies, he feared he would be dumped in the Han River a few years later.

Chief Prosecutor? Chief Millennial Zombie was more like it.

Seeing that softness wasn’t working, Lee Se-hyun decided to go hard, shouting loudly, “You even know the Chief Prosecutor’s old… ”

“Shut up!!!”

Han Kang-sik’s anger flared, and he shot up from his seat.

Then he performed another Sichuan opera face-change.

Han Kang-sik said with a smile, “Let’s discuss things properly, my younger brother Shixian.”

“Don’t just… right!”

“This won’t benefit either of us, will it?”

Lee Se-hyun didn’t want to hear any more nonsense: “Then, about me becoming Chief Prosecutor…”

“I need to coordinate that.”

“You even know the Chief Prosecutor’s old… ”

“I promise you!!!!”

Lee Se-hyun played his trump card again, firmly grasping Han Kang-sik’s lifeline.

“Thank you, Minister!”

“I haven’t even finished my breakfast, but I rushed over without stopping, so I won’t disturb you any longer.”

After thanking him, Lee Se-hyun bowed symbolically. Having received a satisfying answer, he made a quick exit.

Before leaving, he also swiped Han Kang-sik’s West Lake Longjing tea.

Feeling the bank card and branded luxury lighter in his pocket, he thought, “Today truly was a day full of gains.”

Han Kang-sik slumped into his chair. He had truly been defeated today, by a young man.

He really couldn’t figure out where Lee Se-hyun had gotten his information from?!

Could it be that Lee Se-hyun was the Chief Prosecutor’s man???

Han Kang-sik was almost scared by his own train of thought. The more he thought, the scarier it became.

If the Chief Prosecutor knew about this, wouldn’t he be dead already?

Or was it because he still had some use, and thus the Chief Prosecutor merely sent Lee Se-hyun to lead the charge and give him a warning?

His handle was in the other party’s hands, and his life could be crushed at any moment.

Imagining things without basis is the most fatal!

No matter how much Han Kang-sik racked his brain, he couldn’t have imagined the existence of Lee Se-hyun’s system-daddy.

“Minister!”

A knock sounded at the door.

“Come in!”

As soon as Yang Dong-cheol entered, he saw Han Kang-sik’s gloomy face and thought to himself, “The Minister’s temper seems a bit volatile today!”

“Minister, Councilman Song needs to see you urgently.”

“That old geezer Councilman Song is looking for me? Did he say what it’s about?” Han Kang-sik said impatiently.

Yang Dong-cheol observed Han Kang-sik’s eyes. Years of experience told him that Han Kang-sik’s emotions could erupt at any moment.

Han Kang-sik suffered from intermittent insomnia. Whenever he had a lot on his mind, he couldn’t sleep at night.

Not sleeping meant he had no energy in the morning, and without energy, he was prone to outbursts and losing his temper, a vicious cycle.

Yang Dong-cheol hesitated, unsure whether to speak.

“Speak!!!” Han Kang-sik directly flared up, picked up a nearby teacup, and precisely hit Yang Dong-cheol’s big head.

Yang Dong-cheol jumped in fright. His fear of Han Kang-sik made him forget the pain.

“Mi-Minister, Councilman Song’s son is being targeted by a Prosecutor from the local Prosecutor’s Office.”

“Hmm?”

“As you know, Councilman Song only has this one son, and he dotes on him immensely, so…”

“Sibal! These South Korea parasites!” Han Kang-sik cursed.

He didn’t even need to think to know that Councilman Song’s son was no good. What kind of good son could an old man of that caliber raise?

The identity of a local councilman couldn’t even serve as a deterrent. It must be that the Prosecutor had solid evidence, which was why he came to Han Kang-sik for help.

After all, among Prosecutors, their own words held more weight.

“What’s the reason?”

“According to my subordinates, it seems to be harassment of female students.”

“Harassment??” Han Kang-sik’s voice suddenly became stern.

Cold sweat broke out on Yang Dong-cheol’s forehead. He pulled out a handkerchief to wipe it, and his legs involuntarily trembled slightly, terrified of saying the wrong word and angering Minister Han.

It was more than just harassment.

Given that he was the councilman’s son, the fact that the ignorant Prosecutor was still stubbornly pursuing the case meant it was probably not that simple.

Han Kang-sik gently tapped the desk, his fingertips making a ticking sound that was particularly jarring at that moment.

Yang Dong-cheol knew this was Han Kang-sik’s usual habit when thinking, so he stood by, not daring to make a sound.

Serving a ruler was like serving a tiger!

Han Kang-sik pondered the pros and cons of the matter. A mere Prosecutor, and from a local office at that. Solving this problem would be a single word from him.

But why?

All under heaven rush for gain; all under heaven hustle for land.

That old geezer Councilman Song had only helped him with a small favor when he was a Prosecutor, and he had already repaid that favor.

In ancient times, the Washerwoman received a thousand pieces of gold. Han Kang-sik had given no less than that!

Now, Han Kang-sik was the Minister of the Strategy Department, a rising star in the Prosecutor’s Office.

Did he really think it was still the old days? Treating him like a house slave?

That muddle-headed old fool, who couldn’t even tell the difference in status, was about to retire and still couldn’t settle down!

Han Kang-sik said coldly, “For Councilman Song’s matter, let that Li-whatever-Shixian handle it.”

“Minister, are you referring to Lee Kyung-hyun?”

Yang Dong-cheol’s brain worked at light speed, running through everyone in the Strategy Department, finally recalling the name Lee Kyung-hyun.

Mainly, Lee Kyung-hyun was too unsociable, causing everyone to have little impression of him, and he almost didn’t remember such a person.

Han Kang-sik nodded, gestured with his hand, then closed his eyes. He had overused his brain today.

Yang Dong-cheol, understanding the hint, turned off the light and quietly closed the office door.

He took off his glasses, which had a few cracks. A trace of malevolence flashed in his heart, then quickly disappeared.

Yang Dong-cheol muttered to himself, “Lee Kyung-hyun? Is that the one who just came out of Minister Han’s office?”

In the past, such matters would have been handled by him, Minister Han’s right-hand man, personally resolving Minister Han’s trivial affairs.

Now, however, this matter was being entrusted to an outsider?

An unknown person.

If Minister Han hadn’t mentioned it today, Yang Dong-cheol wouldn’t even know such a person existed in the Strategy Department.

Yang Dong-cheol vaguely felt a sense of crisis in his heart.

Sure enough, none of these important figures were anything but cold-blooded and ruthless.

Were they already cultivating a new confidant so quickly?

This was a sign of distrust towards him!!!
