Peninsula: Director of Public Prosecutions Starts with Daily Intelligence

Daily intelligence system!”Wait!!”

Lee Se-hyun breathed a sigh of relief. The hammer was only 0.1 meters from his head at the time. If heaven gave him another chance at life, he would say to everyone present...

”You’re all dead!”

Chairman Shi shoved aside the henchman holding the hammer and stared intently at Lee Se-hyun’s face.

”He looks so much like him, too much like him.”

Chairman Shi muttered to himself, ”The younger brother really resembles the older brother, don’t you think?”

Resembles who? A big question mark appeared in everyone’s minds, but Chairman Shi wouldn’t speak idly. Everyone nodded in agreement, not daring to disagree.

”Yes, yes, Chairman, you are absolutely right.”

”He looks like him, it’s like a father resembles his son, and a son resembles his father.”

Chairman Shi ignored the idiotic henchmen and leaned closer to Lee Se-hyun. The more he looked, the more he saw the resemblance. The two Li brothers looked seventy percent alike.

If it weren’t for their different clothing styles and personalities, people around them would find it almost impossible to distinguish them. A thought suddenly popped into Chairman Shi’s mind.

Chairman Shi asked joyfully, ”Young man, do you want to live?”

The Jinmen Group couldn’t bear the crime of killing a Prosecutor; it would only invite unnecessary trouble, especially since the Prosecutors on The Peninsula are very protective of their own.

They would never let go of anyone who challenged them.

If just anyone could assassinate and eliminate a Prosecutor, what would be the meaning of a Prosecutor’s immense power? There would surely be a heavy price to pay.

This was a rule born from the checks and balances of various forces. Those who break the rules by killing a Prosecutor would die a terrible death.

So, if possible, Chairman Shi wanted Prosecutor Li’s younger brother, Lee Se-hyun, to impersonate his older brother, a classic ’The Substitute Prince’ (a cat for a crown prince) or ’The True and False Monkey King’ (the true and false Monkey King) scheme.

”I really want to live!”

”Chairman, my admiration for you is like the surging river, endless, and like the Yellow River overflowing, unstoppable. If I weren’t still in school, I would have long since abandoned my studies for a martial path and joined your ranks.”

Don’t talk nonsense. The Jinmen Group is a legitimate corporate organization. Every employee pays their five social insurances and one housing fund, and the benefits are excellent.

”I’ll go through fire and water for you, Chairman!” Lee Se-hyun quickly declared his loyalty. The most urgent task was to survive. Only by surviving would he have a chance to talk about anything else.

Chairman Shi nodded. This young man had a completely different personality from his older brother; he was very afraid of death, a spineless fellow. Such a person was often the easiest to control, suitable as a pawn.

Chairman Shi said, ”How do you feel about impersonating your older brother?”

How could Lee Se-hyun feel about it? What could he do? Did he have any other choice?

To survive, he could only wrong his older brother, who had gone to the Western Heaven to retrieve scriptures. Lee Se-hyun swore that one day, if he had the chance, he would definitely avenge him!

... ”Chairman Shi, where are we going?”

Lee Se-hyun sat in the mercedes-benz, looking out the window. This was clearly not the way to the city center. He wondered if there was another event. He didn’t want to spend another moment with Chairman Shi.

Lee Se-hyun was wearing Lee Kyung-hyun’s Prosecutor’s uniform. After a night of fermentation, the uniform had obviously started to smell pungent and unpleasant. It felt sticky and uncomfortable to wear.

He cautiously glanced at Chairman Shi beside him, afraid of angering the old man in the suit and accidentally getting himself killed again.

”Prosecutor Li, you see, you’re anxious again. I know you’re very anxious, but don’t be anxious yet!”

Sibal! Lee Se-hyun really wanted to kill Chairman Shi in front of him. I really want to hammer you to death!

Chairman Shi played coy, ”Later, I’ll take you to see a good show. Relax.”

A good show?!! Oh my god! Lee Se-hyun just wanted to go home now! But with his life in their hands, he was forced to go watch the show.

Lee Se-hyun looked out the car window with a lifeless expression and simply burst into song, completely releasing his suppressed emotions.

”If I could do it again, I’d choose Li Bai~”

”At least the good and bad from hundreds of years ago, not so many people would guess.”

”And I could write poems and tease girls~”

You really couldn’t say he wasn’t good; at least Chairman Shi beside him was listening with relish.

Who would complain about an extra bit of fun in boredom?

”If I could...”

”Ding! Feeling strong emotions from the Host, the System is awakening.”

”Daily Intelligence System, at your service!”

Sys... System? Lee Se-hyun looked at the virtual panel in front of him in disbelief, visible only to himself and no one else.

”System Panel: Daily Intelligence System”

”Social Identity: Prosecutor of the Seoul Central Prosecutor’s Office (Fake)”

”Today’s Intelligence: None (Refreshable)”

”Daily Intelligence System, as the name suggests, allows you to refresh one piece of intelligence each day. The value of the intelligence is completely random.”

”The higher the Host’s social status, the greater the value of the intelligence received.”

This is great, it’s the System, we’re saved!

Lee Se-hyun was ecstatic internally, almost unable to contain his smile, wanting to find a place to laugh out loud.

This System looked incredibly powerful. An intelligence system? Wouldn’t that mean he, Li, would become the world’s most formidable intelligence dealer?

The world would hold no secrets from him.

At worst, he could become a top paparazzi, blackmail... ah no, help some popular celebrities deal with public relations issues, and earning a small fortune would be simple.

Lee Se-hyun felt a little disgusted with himself, having the System’s help and still being so unworldly.

The unique product that is a Prosecutor on The Peninsula, combined with this intelligence system, was bound to take off. Moreover, the value of the System’s intelligence changed with social status.

As long as Lee Se-hyun continued to advance, he could even get his hands on the secret scandals of a certain island.

The future was bright! You are a Prosecutor, and I am also a Prosecutor now. We both have bright futures!

Lee Se-hyun had clearly fully embraced this identity, without the slightest discomfort, even feeling that the uniform he was wearing fit him quite well!

”Refresh!”

”Ding! Host refresh successful, obtained today’s intelligence.”

”Daily Intelligence: During her school days, Park Yeonjin witnessed a classmate jump from a ladder, failed to report it, and even had the Chief of the Police Station handle and conceal the case for her (one high-definition video).”

Uh... Park Yeonjin?!!

If Lee Se-hyun remembered correctly, why did that name sound so familiar? With a curious mind, he clicked on the high-definition video.

A familiar ’crazy beauty’ appeared in his mind, and Lee Se-hyun instantly remembered.

Isn’t this the female lead from The Glory?

This drama was once popular worldwide. Lee Se-hyun had seen it on short videos, and he had even used the ’crazy beauty’ meme before.

If Lee Se-hyun remembered correctly, the wife of his older brother, who had gone to the Western Heaven to retrieve scriptures, was Park Yeonjin.

Initially, he thought it was someone with the same name, but he didn’t expect it to actually be the ’crazy beauty’ from the drama.

Quite interesting!

This world on The Peninsula is not simple!

”We’re here!”

Lee Se-hyun didn’t have time to think before he was roughly pulled out of the car. He looked displeased, how dare they treat a Prosecutor of the South Korea like this? It was truly impolite!

If the people present knew of this thought, they would surely say that Lee Se-hyun was truly sibal shameless!

”Want one?”

Chairman Shi offered Lee Se-hyun a high-quality cigar.

Lee Se-hyun hesitated for a moment but took it, asking, ”Chairman, what are we doing by the river?”

Lee Se-hyun and the others were on a long-abandoned bridge. Due to disrepair, many of the guardrails were rusted and broken. If you weren’t careful, you could fall off.

”Soon, you’ll personally send your older brother off.”

”Ah?!!”
