Peninsula: Director of Public Prosecutions Starts with Daily Intelligence

Sister-in-law, you don’t want to...“Lee Kyung-hyun???”

Park Yeonjin looked at Lee Se-hyun, who was trying to remain calm, with a puzzled expression.

“Aren’t you working overtime today?”

Normally, her Prosecutor husband was either working overtime or on his way to work overtime, having practically made the office his home.

He was busy as anything every day; those who didn’t know would think Lee Kyung-hyun wasn’t a grassroots Prosecutor, but rather the Chief Prosecutor.

“Ah? Well, there were no cases today, so I came back early,” Lee Se-hyun explained, his brain working at high speed.

Park Yeonjin nodded, saying nothing.

Normally, Prosecutors on The Peninsula would finish work around this time, so it wasn’t particularly strange. The key point was that Lee Kyung-hyun was a workaholic.

She didn’t expect him to have a day of slacking off.

Unlike her, a weather forecaster, tomorrow, apart from the time she reported the weather on the program, she would be slacking off on her phone for the rest of the time, leaving work on time, sometimes even early.

“Son-in-law, you must help me with this favor today.”

Mother Hong, standing beside Park Yeonjin, said.

Lee Se-hyun looked at Mother Hong and noticed her appearance bore some resemblance to Park Yeonjin. The classic case of a father resembling his son and a mother resembling her daughter; they were undoubtedly biological.

“What favor?”

“You know Precinct Chief Zhao, right?”

Honestly, Lee Se-hyun didn’t know. What the sibal Precinct Chief Zhao or Precinct Chief Li?

In the South Korea, the Prosecutor was merely a lapdog, and even a Director was just a big lapdog.

“Precinct Chief Zhao wants to invite you to dinner.”

Lee Se-hyun still didn’t speak, quietly watching Mother Hong’s performance.

“Son-in-law, since Yeonjin married you, not to mention everyday trivial matters, I have never troubled you to do a single thing, have I?”

Lee Se-hyun nodded. The upright Prosecutor Brother had indeed never engaged in any abuse of power for personal gain. Even though Mother Hong had repeatedly bothered him to do favors for her, he had righteously refused her.

“Dinner should be fine, right? I’ve already boasted to Precinct Chief Zhao that you would definitely agree. Just consider it your mother-in-law begging you!”

After hearing Mother Hong’s words, Lee Se-hyun also had a headache. Leaving aside who this Precinct Chief Zhao was, he was already annoyed by Mother Hong’s presumptuous behavior.

Wasn’t this moral blackmail?

So, if you ask me for a favor, I must agree? Why? Because you’re my mother-in-law? And besides, she wasn’t even Lee Se-hyun’s mother-in-law.

How could you be so brazen!

Mother Hong had an arrogant demeanor. Although her words implied she was begging her son-in-law, her tone was entirely that of an elder giving orders.

Seeing that Lee Se-hyun didn’t react, Mother Hong plopped down on a luxurious brand-name sofa nearby and whined, “Today, if you don’t help me with this favor, I’m staying here and not leaving.”

Mother Hong had been shameless since she was young, her skin thicker than a city wall; otherwise, she wouldn’t have become Precinct Chief Zhao’s mistress.

“Oma!” Park Yeonjin felt her mother was a bit embarrassing. This behavior was exactly like a street ruffian, a shameless rogue, unbearable to watch.

Park Yeonjin pointed her index finger at Lee Se-hyun’s face: “Lee Kyung-hyun, is it that hard to just have a meal?”

“Do you think you’re the Chief Prosecutor?”

Park Yeonjin couldn’t stand Lee Kyung-hyun’s self-righteous, cowardly look, always acting as if everyone else was drunk and he alone was sober.

He hadn’t earned any money for her to spend, nor had she enjoyed any of the Prosecutor’s power. Every time she asked Lee Kyung-hyun for help, she was righteously refused.

Even this grand mansion was won as a prize when she bought skincare products.

Her role as the prosecutor’s wife was truly stifling. In others’ eyes, she was the high and mighty, arrogant prosecutor’s wife, much envied.

Only Park Yeonjin herself knew the hardship involved.

She must have been blind back then to choose this stubborn blockhead as a husband. If she had known, she would have rather married a Chaebol heir.

Lee Se-hyun looked at the mischievous mother and daughter, thinking, they truly are mother and daughter. Not only do they look alike, but they also both love to stir up trouble.

“Mother-in-law, I will consider this matter. You go back now, and I will give Precinct Chief Zhao a reply later.”

Hearing this perfunctory remark, Mother Hong immediately became displeased and said, “No! You must give me a clear answer today!”

“Go? Or not go?”

Lee Se-hyun clenched his fists, really wanting to punch this shameless mother-in-law in front of him to death.

After a moment of calm reflection, he was still impersonating a Prosecutor and could be exposed at any time. He needed to establish a firm footing first.

Lee Se-hyun appeased her, “Alright! I agree, isn’t that enough?!”

“Please don’t make a fuss, old lady. Give me your contact information, and I’ll talk to Precinct Chief Zhao another day.”

Mother Hong’s face lit up with joy, smiling as brightly as a chrysanthemum: “Good son-in-law! I’ll go back and inform Precinct Chief Zhao right away.”

Mother Hong left Precinct Chief Zhao’s contact information and rushed back without delay.

Did her son-in-law eat the wrong medicine today? Why was he so agreeable? Never mind, she’d tell her old lover the good news first.

Lee Se-hyun shook his head. What was wrong with this world? Since he transmigrated, he was either being threatened or on his way to be threatened.

He transmigrated to become a Prosecutor, yet he was still being threatened. Wasn’t his transmigration in vain?!

Park Yeonjin looked at Lee Se-hyun with a hint of suspicion. She didn’t know why, but she felt that the Lee Se-hyun in front of her was strange, a feeling she couldn’t quite describe.

This was probably a woman’s sixth sense at work.

“Wife, I’m going back to rest. I’m a bit tired today.”

“Wi-wife?!!!”

“Who are you calling wife? You shameless scoundrel!”

Uh… Lee Se-hyun was a bit surprised. Weren’t they husband and wife? Was it wrong to call her wife?

“Yeonjin?” Lee Se-hyun quickly corrected himself, probing.

If he gave himself away just by the address, wouldn’t all his efforts be in vain?

Park Yeonjin didn’t speak, not immediately exposing Lee Se-hyun, but looked at him with a suspicious expression.

The Lee Kyung-hyun in front of her was definitely problematic!

Their marriage was one of convenience, and their relationship wasn’t good. She often called Lee Kyung-hyun by his full name, and Lee Kyung-hyun had never called her wife.

Park Yeonjin kept scrutinizing the person who looked exactly like Lee Kyung-hyun. He was too similar, wasn’t he? She couldn’t help but wonder if Lee Kyung-hyun had a twin brother, but that was too far-fetched.

The two Lee Se-hyun brothers were born in an orphanage. When they were very young, the older brother was adopted because he was well-behaved and sensible, leaving Lee Se-hyun to grow up alone in the orphanage.

They had very little contact, and Lee Se-hyun wasn’t even invited to the wedding.

Therefore, Park Yeonjin was unaware of Lee Se-hyun’s existence.

Lee Se-hyun knew that the more he said, the more mistakes he would make. He was about to return to his room to try and escape this ordeal.

“You... you’re not Lee Kyung-hyun, are you?”

Park Yeonjin’s words were startling. She grabbed Lee Se-hyun’s hand, preventing him from fleeing the battlefield.

Lee Se-hyun’s heart skipped a beat. My sibal, did she have to expose his fake Prosecutor identity so quickly? That was too disrespectful!

Lee Se-hyun’s forehead broke out in cold sweat. He bit the bullet and said, “Yeonjin, what nonsense are you talking about?”

He pretended to touch Park Yeonjin’s forehead: “Are you perhaps feverish?”

“Get lost!”

Park Yeonjin exclaimed, angrily swatting away Lee Se-hyun’s hand. Her sharp fingernails left several scratches on the back of his hand, seeping tiny drops of blood.

Lee Se-hyun suppressed the urge to retaliate, remaining calm. He leaned closer to Park Yeonjin, gently trying to persuade her.

“Yeonjin, please put down your phone, okay?”

“Let’s talk things over nicely. Don’t disturb Uncle Prosecutor on his way home from work.”

Park Yeonjin pulled out her phone, intending to call the Prosecutor. She wanted to expose this impostor Lee Kyung-hyun, this fake Prosecutor!

Seeing that words were having no effect, Lee Se-hyun suddenly turned fierce. He shoved Park Yeonjin onto the sofa and snatched her phone.

“Phew, thankfully it didn’t go through.”

Lee Se-hyun breathed a sigh of relief. If Uncle Prosecutor had been alerted, his identity as a fake Prosecutor would likely be exposed. Then, not to mention ending up in jail.

Chairman Shi alone probably wouldn’t let him off.

The reason Lee Se-hyun was still alive was because he had value. People without value, like the subordinates Chairman Shi casually crushed, no one cared about their lives.

“Axi! You scumbag! Let me go!!!”
