Peninsula: Director of Public Prosecutions Starts with Daily Intelligence

Loyal Orange!!! (asking for monthly ticket)”Shixian, congratulations!”

”From now on, we should call you a big star!” Yang Dong-cheol said with a hint of jealousy.

”Brother Dongzhe, don’t make fun of me. A star? Who doesn’t know that the lowest social status on The Peninsula belongs to stars?”

Lee Se-hyun was taking advantage of the situation.

”Ah, this is different. You are the star king among Prosecutors, you have nothing to do with those performers.” Yang Dong-cheol said.

The social status of stars on The Peninsula was, in ancient times, referred to as ’performers of the lowest class’.

With the recent rise of the internet era, their status has greatly improved. In ancient times, if someone heard you were a performer or a singer, they would instinctively look down on you.

Although the Star Prosecutor program includes the word ’star’, it’s not the same. A star among scientists, a star among council members, a star among Prosecutors... different professions naturally have different statuses. This Star Prosecutor program just uses the word ’star’; it doesn’t actually make Prosecutors become stars.

If Yang Dong-cheol were ten years younger, he would definitely compete with Lee Se-hyun for this plum assignment.

Lee Se-hyun sighed: ”How can one know if a misfortune is not a blessing in disguise? Who knows if this Star Prosecutor thing is reliable or not.”

Yang Dong-cheol nodded. Every opportunity is full of both danger and opportunity; it just depends on how you seize it.

After Lee Se-hyun and Yang Dong-cheol bid farewell, they returned to their respective offices.

Today was Monday, and Administrative Officer Cheng Meilan was at work. As soon as he entered, he saw Cheng Meilan carrying a bag of breakfast, coming to greet him.

”Prosecutor Li!” Cheng Meilan handed over the breakfast, smiling, ”Here! Today’s loving bento! It’s Xia-style!”

A cup of soy milk, a few xiaolongbao, a fried dough stick, steamed buns, corn, etc... Yes, this was very Xia-style, fitting his appetite.

”Thank you!” Lee Se-hyun patted Cheng Meilan’s small head in thanks.

Honestly, having such a cheerful and beautiful person in the office was truly pleasing to the eye. Even if she were just a pretty vase doing nothing, he would still like it.

The emotional value was maxed out.

Lee Se-hyun sat down, eating the taste of his hometown, filling his stomach, while pondering whether Cheng Du had cashed in the lottery ticket yet, and for how much.

While he was thinking, Cheng Du excitedly returned.

”Prosecutor Li!” Cheng Du immediately knelt down, kowtowed several times, and said, ”Thank you for your great kindness, Old Cheng will never forget it in this life.”

”Oh, my!” This sudden scene almost made Lee Se-hyun choke on his soy milk. He quickly pulled Cheng Du up and said, ”A’Du, what are you doing like this?”

”Get up quickly. If others see this, they’ll think I’m abusing my employees.”

It must have been because of that lottery ticket; Cheng Du must have won a significant amount of money, otherwise, he wouldn’t perform such a grand gesture.

”I won, I won!” Cheng Du danced with joy, saying, ”A full three hundred thousand xia country currency, Prosecutor Li!”

”We’re rich!!!”

Three hundred thousand? Lee Se-hyun pouted in dissatisfaction. System, you’re really stingy. How dare you call a mere three hundred thousand ’valuable’?

He had thought it would be three million or thirty million.

Having received three million from Han Kang-sik earlier, Lee Se-hyun clearly had no concept of money anymore.

It was like a certain Jack Ma, spouting nonsense about not being interested in money, having no concept of it.

To an ordinary civil servant like Cheng Du, three hundred thousand could be worth several years of his salary, enough for a down payment on a one-bedroom apartment within the Tenth Ring Road.

Although Cheng Du was a Prosecutor’s Administrative Officer, high salaries had nothing to do with him. Administrative Officers were contract workers, subject to average wage standards.

A ’workhorse’ earning three thousand a month, that’s him. It’s just that Cheng Du’s ’workhorse’ salary was stable, and by following a Prosecutor, his future prospects were greatly promising.

Money or no money, it didn’t matter; the important thing was to be able to serve the people of The Peninsula, wasn’t it?

His awareness was absolutely top-notch.

Cheng Du thought Lee Se-hyun’s pouting meant he was unhappy, so he quickly said, ”Prosecutor Li, please take this money back, I...”

”Stop!” Lee Se-hyun interrupted Cheng Du’s next words, saying, ”What I say goes. A gentleman’s word is his bond.”

”I said it’s for you, so there’s no reason to take it back.”

”It’s just a mere three hundred thousand.”

A mere three hundred thousand??? Cheng Du only felt that the image of Lee Se-hyun before him grew taller, more handsome, mighty, and domineering. As expected of a Prosecutor!

A promise worth a thousand gold pieces!

Cheng Du swore that no matter what the future held, he would pledge his undying loyalty to Prosecutor Li!!!

”Chungcheng!”

Lee Se-hyun smiled and said, ”Did you eat this morning? Xiao Lan just bought too much breakfast, I can’t finish it.”

”No... no no, Prosecutor Li, I’ve eaten!”

Cheng Du shook his head and refused. Faced with Cheng Meilan’s murderous gaze, how could he dare to say he hadn’t eaten? Even if he hadn’t, he had to say he had.

”Prosecutor Li, if you can’t finish it, you can eat it slowly. At worst, you can have it for lunch,” Cheng Meilan said thoughtfully.

”Uh...” Lee Se-hyun helplessly said, ”Alright, everything you say is right.”

...”Ding-a-ling!”

The phone rang. Cheng Du answered it, spoke a few words, and then said with a grave expression, ”Prosecutor Li, Professor Kim, whom you asked me to keep an eye on, is... dead.”

”Dead?!” Lee Se-hyun was overjoyed to hear this, saying, ”Where did he die?”

”Gangnam District, xxxx Street...”

”A brother from our Eastern Police Precinct sent the news.”

”Good, tell those dog-like guys at the Police Station to secure the scene and not let anyone enter! We’re leaving immediately!”

Lee Se-hyun packed his things, straightened his suit, and didn’t even eat breakfast, which made Cheng Meilan pout beside him. However, out of respect for Lee Se-hyun’s serious business, she didn’t cause trouble.

She just had Cheng Du take some food with him, so Lee Se-hyun could eat it on the way.

Cheng Du drove the Passat, speeding to the maximum. The Passat transformed into an AE86, with the spirit of the Akina mountain drift king, racing all the way.

Soon, they arrived at the scene where Professor Kim was murdered.

The scene was already filled with onlookers. The police were evacuating the crowd, pulling up a long yellow tape to isolate the onlookers and prevent them from damaging the scene.

Lee Se-hyun got out of the car, and under the escort of Cheng Du, who acted like a guardian, squeezed a path through the crowd.

Just as he was about to lift the yellow tape to cross, a police officer came over to stop him, saying, ”Crime scene! Unauthorized personnel are not allowed inside!”

Lee Se-hyun ignored him and walked straight in.

”Sibal old ma!” The police officer threw his hat down, ready to teach this ignorant person a lesson: ”Are you deaf?! One more step, and I’ll send you to jail!”

With a ’slap’!

Cheng Du threw the Prosecutor’s identification card onto the police officer’s face, making a crisp sound: ”Watch your mouth! If you’re still naughty, our Prosecutor Li will send you to jail for a while.”

”My C...” The police officer’s eyes widened, almost peeing himself. He said fawningly, ”Oh, it’s Prosecutor Sir. Please come in! I’ll lead the way for you.”

He was a bit nearsighted, and when he looked closely at the three big characters on the ID, he was immediately startled.

Pro... Prosecutor?!!!

My sibal, he almost cursed a Prosecutor of the South Korea. He really had a death wish.

Others might not know how ruthless Prosecutors could be, but these police officers dealt with Prosecutors all year round. To put it bluntly, they were just dogs under the Prosecutors’ command.

The intimidating power of The Peninsula’s Prosecutors was deeply ingrained in people’s hearts.

”Police Chief Cao, hello!!”
