Reborn As Super Heiress

Capítulo 1838: Chapter 1741: Conflict

Huo Sining didn’t know that these two Li families actually had such a connection, so she didn’t butt in and let Li Jun continue talking.

Li Jun didn’t think this was any sort of family scandal and openly criticized the Glazed Li Family in front of the outsider, Huo Sining.

“Even if we helped them and they’d expressed gratitude, it would’ve been okay. But that family is never satisfied and always expects more. A few years ago, they were still somewhat restrained, but recently they’ve become greedier, overreaching to the extreme. They even proposed to take 40% of our shares, arguing that a single stroke can’t form the character for Li, they’re also part of the Li Family, and if my grandpa passes away, they’d also be entitled to inherit the Li family estate.”

Huo Sining was still sipping on her rose nectar when she heard this from Li Jun. She spat it out in shock and almost choked, looking at Li Jun in disbelief. She couldn’t understand where the Glazed Li Family got the nerve to say such things.

“In fact, over the past one or two years, my grandpa has already realized the nature of the people over there. He gradually distanced himself, no longer hoping to maintain any family ties with them, and just thought to keep it superficially cordial, just enough to save face.”

“But those people are utterly tactless, provoking trouble every now and then. Recently, my grandpa was infuriated by that family and got ill. He’s still recovering, and we’re afraid he’ll get upset if he sees those people. That’s why we didn’t invite anyone from the Glazed side for this birthday celebration. Who would’ve thought they’d show up uninvited? The nerve they have is unbelievable!”

Huo Sining didn’t expect the Glazed side of the Li Family to behave in such a manner. She recalled Li Hang’s conduct at Su Zhongqing’s birthday banquet. His demeanor exuded an inexplicable sense of superiority, as if he was above everyone, constantly belittling and looking down on others, like a newly rich vulgarian, truly unpresentable. This was probably heavily influenced by the environment of the entire Li family.

Thinking of the opportunist Xing Jiaojiao, Huo Sining couldn’t help but sigh, truly believing in the old saying that birds of a feather flock together. These two always seemed to find each other attractive.

However, when she thought back to the scene when those Glazed folks entered the Li family, Huo Sining felt a twinge of foreboding, fearing that today’s birthday banquet might not be so peaceful.

Huo Sining and Li Jun were sitting together chatting with Yue Shuwen, and soon enough, Li Jun’s cousin Li Yu brought over Li Hang and Xing Jiaojiao. Seeing Huo Sining there, they were momentarily stunned. Li Yu’s expression wavered but she didn’t say anything, while Xing Jiaojiao and Li Hang’s faces darkened, especially Li Hang, whose gaze towards Huo Sining could almost be described as shadowy.

Huo Sining could understand Li Hang’s feelings. After all, at Su Zhongqing’s birthday banquet, Huo Sining had bluntly exposed Li Hang’s lies and deemed the fake Phoenix Harmony Jade Pendant he gifted as worthless.

However, at the moment, Huo Sining’s focus wasn’t on Li Hang and Xing Jiaojiao but on the two people standing beside them.

This pair was holding hands, obviously a young couple. Huo Sining’s gaze fell on the girl within this couple. After seeing the dark spots on her face and neck that layers of thick makeup couldn’t conceal, the corners of her mouth inadvertently twitched.

Yes, Huo Sining recognized this woman too. This was the same woman she encountered at the Samurai Sword Shop in Dongyang, an exemplar Glazed woman.

At the time, since this woman was with Li Hang and their behavior was intimate, Huo Sining mistook them for a couple. Now it seemed she was wrong; while Li Hang and this woman didn’t look alike, the fact they came to the Li family’s birthday banquet together suggested a familial relation.

No matter what the relationship between these two was, it couldn’t dampen Huo Sining’s good mood.

Because the old scars on that woman’s body were marks left by Huo Sining.

Back then, this woman had been making offensive remarks in the Samurai Sword Shop, looking down on Huaxia people from the Mainland, even going so far as to call Huaxia people “Zhina dogs.” In anger, Huo Sining scolded her and secretly sprinkled some itching powder on her as a form of retribution.

Now it seemed that this retribution was quite effective.

Huo Sining glanced at the woman with a smirk and was rather pleased with the effect of the itching powder Yan Feng had given her.

As the woman scanned Huo Sining’s face, she found it somewhat familiar as if she had seen her somewhere before. Initially, she didn’t recall, but after gazing at Huo Sining a few more times, her expression changed dramatically. She too remembered the scene at the Samurai Sword Shop where she was reprimanded by this Huaxia woman. Her face instantly darkened, and with a frosty demeanor, she pointed at Huo Sining and shouted:

“It’s you! Brother Jun, who is this woman, and why is she here?!”

Li Jun, seeing the woman point her finger at Huo Sining, was instantly displeased and said sternly:

“This is my house, it’s my grandpa’s birthday celebration. Do I need to explain why a guest is here, to you? Li Yan, you should know your place. And pointing your finger at others – is this how the Glazed Li Family taught you manners? Do you even have any upbringing? Do you need me to teach you what it means to be polite to people?”

So, this woman’s name was Li Yan, and she was indeed part of the Li family, probably either Li Hang’s sister or cousin, thought Huo Sining as she recalled the two middle-aged men accompanying Old Master Li’s brother earlier, assuming these were Li Hang and Li Yan’s fathers.

While Huo Sining was still lost in her thoughts, Li Yan exploded. From childhood, she had never been reprimanded so openly, especially in front of so many people, and she couldn’t endure it. She immediately caused a scene, yelling:

“What kind of guest is she? This woman said awful things to me in Dongyang as well. I don’t want to see her here, make her leave!”

Seeing Li Yan throwing a tantrum, Li Jun’s face turned ashen:

“I’d like to see who dares! My friend is a guest at the Li family, why should she be driven out? In fact, it should be you all leaving, showing up uninvited and now trying to take over. Your audacity is astounding!”

Li Jun and Li Yan’s voices weren’t deliberately lowered, and since they were in the banquet hall, even though it was in a corner, it inevitably attracted a lot of the guests’ attention. Many people had already turned their heads to look, and some, intentionally or unintentionally, had begun to gather around.

Huo Sining felt a surge of anxiety, thinking to herself, wasn’t it enough to just attend a birthday banquet quietly and leave quietly? Couldn’t even this simple request be fulfilled?
