Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1817: Chapter 1720: Sneaking Around

These two people operate at night, and their movements are extremely swift. If Gu Xu hadn’t been a reconnaissance soldier himself, with extensive experience in tracking, he would have likely lost them long ago.

”Interesting.”

After tracking them for a while, Gu Xu became intrigued. He whispered to Huo Sining, ”These two have distinctive skills and are likely Dongyang Iga-ryu ninjas.”

”Ninja?” Huo Sining was stunned upon hearing this, immediately recalling the ”Naruto” cartoon that Qibao watched: ”The ninja who uses hand signs to perform spells, controls chakra, and activates shadow clones or the Sharingan?”

Gu Xu couldn’t help but smile. ”That’s the ninja as portrayed through a series of artistic processes by Dongyang people, much like how our Huaxia Country’s kung fu became the Eighteen Dragon-Subduing Palms and Nine Yang True Classic in Jin Yong’s works after artistic refinement. In reality, these things don’t exist.”

”A real ninja is more like a spy, a special profession with the purpose of conducting secret strategies, sabotage, assassinations, collecting enemy intelligence, and disrupting the enemy’s backup bases.”

”These ninjas master flying techniques, concealment techniques, and poison use and antidotes, intending to gather intelligence and assassinate political enemies. However, this special skill started to disappear after the Tokugawa Family ruled Dongyang. I didn’t expect there were still people mastering ninja techniques.”

Huo Sining recalled when she interacted with Fujiwara Seiho before, how his subordinates called him ”lord,” causing her heart to flutter:

”That Fujiwara Seiho isn’t dead yet, is he some organizational leader? He survived the Divine Tomb Village ordeal, definitely not someone easy to deal with. These ninjas are most likely trained by his organization. This man is ruthless; I saw him shooting to kill with my own eyes, and he did so without hesitation. Now he sends Hattori Keiko and Jiang Qisheng Shu to Qingya, what on earth does he plan to do!”

Gu Xu laughed and said, ”Let’s go inside and find out, shall we?”

Huo Sining nodded. At that moment, they arrived in front of a building. Hattori Keiko and Jiang Qisheng Shu had already sneaked inside. Huo Sining and Gu Xu followed suit, but they used an Invisibility Spell, strolling in openly rather than sneaking.

Upon entering, they saw three uniformed security guards sprawled out on the ground, clearly knocked out by Hattori Keiko and Jiang Qisheng Shu.

Gu Xu initially didn’t realize something was off. When he walked in and saw various display racks in the hall and relic descriptions hung on the walls, he sensed something was amiss.

”Is this... a museum?”

Huo Sining and Gu Xu exchanged glances, having entered through the side door following Hattori Keiko and Jiang Qisheng Shu, initially feeling the building was grand, without further thought. Seeing the relic descriptions now, they realized what place they had barged into.

”I almost forgot, with such a big earthquake, even if the museum didn’t collapse, it’s probably a hazardous building. Those artifacts couldn’t possibly still be here, right?” Huo Sining asked worriedly.

Gu Xu nodded, ”Look at the situation here; the display glass cabinets are empty, indicating those artifacts were already moved. The Cultural Relics Bureau isn’t lax; they must have handled this long ago, which explains the lax security, leaving only a few guards here.”

Huo Sining looked at the surrounding empty room and agreed with Gu Xu. Yet, it left her puzzled:

”If that’s the case, why did these two Dongyang people come here? They’ve even injured people. Don’t they know that the artifacts in the museum have been moved?”

Gu Xu furrowed his brows lightly, glanced at Huo Sining, and said, ”We’ll know once we go in and see!”

Huo Sining nodded slightly. The two entered and soon found the two Dongyang ninjas, following their steps silently.

The two searched the museum thoroughly, nearly turning the whole place upside down, yet they didn’t find what they were looking for.

Just as Huo Sining grew perplexed and completely clueless about their actions, Jiang Qisheng Shu suddenly darted towards the warehouse door, glancing at Hattori Keiko.

Hattori Keiko nodded, and the duo somehow used an instrument to scan the warehouse door a few times, then started pressing on the password lock. After several attempts, they quickly opened the warehouse door.

Due to an unexpected earthquake, the museum evidently suffered considerable impact, with numerous broken items scattered inside the warehouse.

After entering the warehouse, they ignored the Bronze Ding and other large objects, instead rummaging through paintings and calligraphy.

Gu Xu, previously thinking the museum’s items were all transferred, was surprised to see many items still inside the warehouse. Beside him, Huo Sining chuckled, writing two words in Gu Xu’s palm: ”Fake ones.”

Many museum displays aren’t genuine but replicas based on historical records and some genuine relic fragments, intended for laypeople to learn about Huaxia civilization. These replicas, usually kept in the museum, are not particularly valuable. The earthquake likely prompted the museum to move genuine artifacts, while these replicas did not warrant massive manpower and resources for relocation, remaining in the warehouse.

However, Huo Sining was puzzled; if what’s left here are replicas, why did Hattori Keiko and Jiang Qisheng Shu come? What are they searching for, and why travel so far, even disguising themselves and infiltrating relief teams, to get here?

While full of doubt, Hattori Keiko and Jiang Qisheng Shu tore open the replica painting scrolls in the museum warehouse, carefully examined each, and upon confirming they weren’t what they sought, tossed them aside to search for another.
