Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1814: Chapter 1717: Scared Shitless

Yang Chensheng was startled by the three rescue team leaders. At first glance, he thought they had been beaten, but upon closer inspection, he realized their faces and necks were swollen because of boils.

The three leaders couldn’t help but scratch even in Yang Chensheng’s office, and soon, boils started to appear on their arms, bellies, and backs.

Seeing this, Yang Chensheng couldn’t help but feel itchy himself and had to restrain the urge to scratch. He quickly found an excuse to usher the three out.

Though slightly taking pleasure in their misfortune, these were neighboring countries, and it wouldn’t be right to make it too obvious, so he instructed the military doctors to examine them to understand what was going on.

Yang Chensheng was baffled and confused by their symptoms, especially when his subordinates reported that only the rescue teams from Liuli, Goryeo, and Dongyang showed these strange symptoms, while all others, including the Huaxia and Country E teams, displayed no such illness.

Upon receiving this report, Yang Chensheng sensed that something was off. Reflecting on it carefully, he seemed to have understood something, and a faint smile flashed across his eyes.

However, on the surface, Yang Chensheng maintained a serious expression, conveying his stance to conduct full-scale treatment and thoroughly investigate the cause without any negligence.

The military doctors, already annoyed by the events of the past couple of days, were eager to share this ”good” news among themselves, and would have no heart to earnestly treat these rescue teams.

Moreover, after examining these rescue team members, the doctors found that their symptoms didn’t resemble a skin infection but rather a rash so long as they didn’t scratch, the boils wouldn’t develop. Yet, these people felt an unbearable itch inside their bodies that they couldn’t resist.

The doctors, after examining them, were equally shocked and perplexed, using these team members as test subjects, researching repeatedly yet unable to pinpoint the root cause.

After two days of dragging on, they could only conclude that due to the earthquake causing climatic changes around Qingya Mei Mountain, issues arose with air and water quality, leading to these three international rescue teams experiencing acclimatization problems resulting in illness.

As soon as this diagnosis came out, Yang Chensheng felt as if a pillow was sent his way right before falling asleep. He quickly reported it upward, and soon, feedback was received:

The Huaxia Government expressed gratitude for the international rescue teams’ support and assistance, expressing concern for the health and well-being of the team members. They would be sent to Huaxia’s best hospitals for treatment.

Then, not allowing any objections from the rescue teams, the military district dispatched a special plane, expelling all those rescue team members and reporters from the Shu region.

The news of the Huaxia Government sending the international rescue teams out of the earthquake disaster area swiftly spread. Media outlets in countries like England, America, and France, upon learning of this, couldn’t believe in such a coincidence and all thought it was trickery by the Huaxia Government.

How could such a thing happen, with Country E’s rescue team unaffected, while the rescue teams from Liuli, Goryeo, and Dongyang faced issues, with none spared? Certainly, it was too coincidental.

After filling their minds with various conspiracy theories about the Huaxia Government, those foreign media began vigorously propagating, subtly accusing the Huaxia Government of orchestrating and manipulating the international rescue teams’ activities, attempting to incite multi-national conflicts.

Of course, the Huaxia side wouldn’t sit idly by, directly publishing the examination reports and photos of boils covering those three teams’ members.

The Huaxia side didn’t even hide anything, openly stating that if any country’s doctors could cure these rescue team members’ rare disease, Huaxia would offer substantial rewards.

Once this news spread, many renowned doctors worldwide were tempted and rushed to Huaxia, hoping to showcase their skills. However, those international doctors found themselves helpless and frustrated as their treatment methods had no effect on alleviating the team members’ symptoms.

This left those media outlets collectively dumbfounded, with no one daring to clamor further.

Even if deep down they suspected something, like Huaxia potentially pulling strings behind the scenes, Huaxia brought everything into the open, standing their ground confidently without any signs of guilt or responsibility evasion, leaving foreign media unable to find any fault with the Huaxia Government in this affair.

Moreover, the symptoms of those rescue team members were real, they were indeed infected with a peculiar disease, untreatable by anyone.

Though suspicious, none of those foreign media dared to risk themselves by heading to the Shu region, fearing that upon seeing those rescue team members’ symptoms, they might catch this unknown sickness when returning.

The rescue team members endured unbearable itch, going through countless medications, yet unable to alleviate their condition. Within a week, they couldn’t take it anymore, wailing like ghosts and wolves, protesting and clamoring incessantly, only wanting to escape from the man-eating lair that they perceived Huaxia to be.

The Huaxia side naturally was eager but had to outwardly appear remorseful and apologetic, repeatedly trying to keep them. Only after numerous attempts did they send them back home.

The team members, as if escaping a flood of beasts, hastily boarded the plane, having developed an inexplicable fear of Huaxia, silently swearing never to set foot in this cursed place again in their lives!

Communication in the disaster areas had been mostly restored by the fourth day after the earthquake, allowing the use of mobile and internet services. Hence, Huo Sining and the others learned of the rescue teams being sent home that very day.

Ouyang Jun nearly laughed his stomach sore: ”This is hilarious. Those people were in such a bad state upon returning that their bodies were covered in wounds from all the scratching, oozing pus everywhere, emitting a foul odor. Doctors and nurses from the military hospital nearly fainted upon entering their rooms, and even the orderlies refused to take on caretaking duties for those wards.”

Yet, Qin Tian, looking at the pictures of those people, felt that the symptoms looked familiar, as if he’d seen them somewhere before.

He instinctively lifted his head to glance at Huo Sining, who had a calm smile, pondering.

Huo Sining, unnoticed by Qin Tian’s curious gaze, exchanged a look with Gu Xu and smirked, saying:

”This is just perfect, with these people gone, the military district can relax a bit, at least they won’t have to deal with those with ulterior motives. Commander Yang might as well be celebrating with firecrackers, right?”
