Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1810: Chapter 1713: Selling the Mine

After staying in Xicheng District for a whole day, several thousand people were rescued from the area. Huo Sining, along with Falcon, saved hundreds of survivors. By the time they returned to the town, everyone was exhausted, but no one suggested taking a rest because the golden 72-hour window for earthquake relief was ticking away. Without seizing this time, many more could die in the rubble without aid.

Wu Jun also rushed over that night, bringing along disaster relief supplies jointly organized by the Beauty Fund and Shengtang Group. As soon as these supplies arrived in the affected area, they were distributed immediately.

Although the government also distributed supplies to the disaster victims, the number of people affected was enormous. No matter how abundant the supplies, it felt like a drop in the bucket. Public donations, despite their numbers, were hardly enough to make a significant impact.

The government could only guarantee basic essentials such as food, water, and tents, but additional materials like clothing were not provided. Hence, the supplies from the Beauty Fund and Shengtang Group mainly included items like blankets and hot water bags. While the government ensured the disaster victims had enough to eat and drink, they also provided warmth, preventing them from suffering frostbite in the harsh winter.

Once Wu Jun arrived, Huo Sining immediately pulled him aside to discuss the Beauty Fund’s disaster relief and subsequent charity efforts, even forgoing her meal.

After reviewing the financial report given by Wu Jun, Huo Sining pondered for a while before speaking:

”Didn’t the Bada Family say a few months ago that they had already secured that Mizhi jungle and were about to start mining? Tell them I’m willing to trade my 50% shares in the jade mine for cash. If they can’t raise enough money, I’ll find someone else to deal with. Contact Badasang; I need the money urgently within this month!”

Wu Jun was shocked to hear this, and even Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian widened their eyes in surprise at Huo Sining’s words.

”Sister-in-law, you can’t be serious! That’s a medium-sized jade mine! Holding those shares ensures that the Crowned Jade Beauty will have a steady supply of raw materials. Even if other jadeite companies decline, yours can remain unshaken for the long haul, and now you want to sell this share in the jade mine?”

”This is not a joke. The jade mine hasn’t even started mining, and converting it to cash now will lose at least half of its profits. Are you sure you want to go through with this?”

Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian looked at Huo Sining with disapproval, clearly unable to comprehend her rash decision.

But Gu Xu, standing nearby, wore a look filled with encouragement and understanding. He reached out and tightly grasped Huo Sining’s hand as if to give her strength.

”Convert it all into money, or if any tycoon is willing to barter with goods, that works too!”

Huo Sining smiled at Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian, ”No need to look so resentful. That jade mine was a windfall for me and doesn’t belong to me. By exchanging it for a substantial amount of cash and supplies, I can help these disaster victims overcome their difficulties, which is far more meaningful than it being under my possession.”

”Besides,” Huo Sining said with pride and confidence, ”If I could stumble upon one jade mine, surely I can find more. If I want to, it’s no problem!”

Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian were left speechless by her words, wanting to retort but finding themselves unable to refute her stance.

If anyone else had said this, Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian would probably laugh their heads off, mocking that person for their wild imagination.

But because it was Huo Sining who said it, inexplicably, they found her words persuasive. No matter how absurd they sounded, when coming from her mouth, they seemed not entirely impossible to achieve.

After all, this young woman had gambled on a Da Hong Pao chicken blood stone mine at Yuyan Mountain and discovered a riverbed jadeite seed mine in Mizhi. Given Huo Sining’s almost supernatural ability to appraise gems, in the eyes of Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian, she had become omnipotent.

So, in their view, even gambling on another jade mine didn’t seem like an unachievable task for Huo Sining.

”Sister-in-law, you really plan to donate all the resources from exchanging this 50% share?”

Even knowing how easily Huo Sining earned money, Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian still felt a pang of distress at the thought of donating such a large sum.

This was a figure most people wouldn’t dare to dream of. Xu Zi’s wife tossing it away without batting an eye seemed unbelievably crazy.

In contrast to Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian’s conflicted expressions, Huo Sining seemed quite composed:

”I can earn more money, but this money can’t be handed over to those indifferent officials. It must be done by the Beauty Fund, with all accounts open and transparent. Every cent distributed to disaster victims must be documented without any deception. Wu Jun, you’re in charge. Make sure these supplies are put to good use. If there are any issues you can’t resolve, contact me, Gu Xu, or Ouyang Jun!”

Wu Jun nodded solemnly, ”Understood, I’ll take care of it right away.”

”Wait!”

Huo Sining called out to Wu Jun again, seriously instructing him, ”Keep this low-key. Don’t make a big deal out of it. If reporters try to interview you, find ways to keep it under wraps. Don’t let this turn into a media frenzy!”

Wu Jun was taken aback, and Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian immediately frowned, ”To invest such a large amount with no recognition, are you trying to become an anonymous hero?”

Huo Sining laughed, ”I just want to follow my heart. The title of hero is best left to those seeking fame. Even if I gain recognition, it won’t be through these means. Besides, being too famous makes life exhausting.”

Gu Xu grasped Huo Sining’s slender, cold wrist, looking into the eyes of this star-like woman. Their gazes met, merging like two deep, endless pools.

He understood the deep-seated sense of mission within her. When someone is inexplicably blessed by fate and gains abilities undeservedly, the resulting insecurity and surreal feeling of having a pie fall from the sky can fill them with unreality and uncertainty, making them eager to contribute something meaningful to alleviate the guilt and remorse in their hearts.

In that moment, Gu Xu felt he could better comprehend her inner turmoil and unease, deepening his sense of compassion and tenderness for her. He gently reached out, touching his wife’s shoulder with warmth that seemed to convey affirmation and understanding.

”Let’s follow Ningning’s plan; money is not an issue.”
