Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1812: Chapter 1715: Taking the Initiative

Gu Xu returned home a bit past one in the morning, looking exhausted and gloomy. It was clear that he had gone through quite a bit of trouble at Qingwu Pingchuan that night.

”Xu Zi, what on earth is going on? Did those devils and sticks do this on purpose?”

As soon as they saw Gu Xu, Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian anxiously inquired about the situation.

Gu Xu rubbed his temples, looking quite unwell: ”Yeah.”

”They drove from Guangyuan to Qingwu on the highway, but our people intercepted them. Even after sending them back, they were relentless, insisting that they had orders, that the road ahead was dangerous and they must wait on standby, even asking our people to get off at the highway exit, head to Hirakawa, and check into a hotel.”

”The buildings are all unsafe, how could we possibly provide them with hotels? We forcefully sent them back, and their leader kept cursing, claiming our government doesn’t support their rescue efforts! They’re causing as much trouble as they can.”

Ouyang Jun said angrily, ”At a time like this, they have the guts to act like this? They’re not taking us seriously at all, are they? Do they really think we won’t do anything to them?”

Gu Xu raised his head and sneered, ”They represent international organizations for aid. Even though we know they have ulterior motives, all we can do is stay vigilant; we can’t just send them directly back to their country. Otherwise, we’d face all kinds of criticism internationally. They might even exploit this to stir up public sentiment and attack the government, accusing the Huaxia Government of being indifferent in rescue efforts and being unappreciative. Blame all sorts of accusations on us.”

Qin Tian and Ouyang Jun exchanged a look, feeling frustrated, yet they understood that what Gu Xu said was true.

”Are we really going to just sit passively on defense like this? They won’t even let us get close during rescue. Who knows what they’re doing inside? As for those instruments, we have no idea what they’re for, probably dual-use for spying and aid.”

”Those devils have always been formidable in intelligence gathering. Even when my grandfather was alive, he greatly respected their abilities in this area. Back during the 1998 flood, they used disaster relief as an excuse to secretly take blood from victims for genetic research. They’re absolutely not to be underestimated!”

Ouyang Jun couldn’t help but feel very irritated when he thought about the rescue team staying in Qingya for over a week. It felt like having a schemer in your home, trying to steal from you, and you couldn’t even kick him out, only watch him every moment—an unbelievably uncomfortable feeling.

Gu Xu nodded and said, ”We definitely can’t stay so passive. We’re working on countermeasures, but the current hope is to negotiate with them without tearing things apart, that’s the order from above, and we can only obey.”

”Speaking of which, what’s the situation with Liuli? Joining forces with those devils and sticks as soon as they arrive, isn’t that too blatant?”

Qin Tian was furious at the mention of this, thinking of those ungrateful fools who pay lip service here while turning around and becoming traitors, selling our country out. Do they really think that letting Huaxia fall will lead them to rise with Dongyang?

”I’ve secretly investigated; this rescue team was sent by the Coast Guard. You all know the kind of background the people sent from that place have, and they’ve brought along a large amount of survey equipment. It’s not very useful for earthquake rescue, but quite helpful in other regards.”

”They’re seizing this opportunity to collect military intelligence. The Qingwu Pingchuan area, with its nuclear facilities, munitions factories, and National Defense Military Industrial Base, they’re using rescue as cover to conduct espionage during this sensitive time.”

Gu Xu didn’t say much regarding the Liuli issue Qin Tian mentioned. Everyone knew the situation over there, with the ruling party unable to make sense, siding with outsiders, destined for self-destruction someday.

Huo Sining hadn’t paid much attention to this matter before. She had always viewed international aid positively, but this time it opened her eyes, as she received so much conflicting information, making her feel awkward, realizing how narrow her perspective was, chuckling at her naivety.

International relations are much more complex than simple exchanges, but it’s not that hard to handle either. If she had known earlier that these people came with malicious intent, she would have acted sooner.

Above wants to negotiate with these rescue teams without torn relations, a manageable task; just driving them back should do the trick.

She had some ace up her sleeve for such situations, didn’t she?

After Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian left, Huo Sining shared her thoughts.

Upon seeing the small porcelain bottle Huo Sining took out, Gu Xu’s eyes lit up instantly.

He had seen Huo Sining’s mischief before and witnessed the fate Wu Jingyi met after offending Huo Sining, yet he didn’t know that all of it was caused by the powder inside that bottle.

”This isn’t a bad idea at all. If we can make them leave voluntarily, it’s no longer our problem, just that they couldn’t adapt to the environment here, resulting in allergic reactions and physical distress.”

Gu Xu nodded, agreeing with Huo Sining’s proposal.

After some discussion, they devised a plan. Gu Xu knew well the astonishing power of Huo Sining’s Invisibility Spell. When they had sneaked into the Zhong Family Old Mansion, Gu Xu experienced firsthand being unnoticed while Huo Sining led him through the mansion.

As long as he carefully followed his wife, it was hard to be discovered. Thus, Gu Xu insisted on acting together.

Gu Xu, having experienced the pain of separation, couldn’t agree to let Huo Sining take the risk alone, not wanting to repeat past mistakes.

Huo Sining thought that it would only take a short time to sprinkle some itching powder. Hence, she didn’t refuse and readily agreed.

Around three o’clock, when most people were asleep at the station, Huo Sining and Gu Xu quietly emerged from their tent.

They first entered the tents of Liuli and Goryeo, discreetly sprinkling itching powder on the exposed skin of those rescue team members, then quickly retreated before heading towards the tents of Dongyang.
