Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1837: Chapter 1740: Liuli Li Family

This is the sixty-ninth birthday of Master Li, which is considered one of the few extremely important days in an elderly person’s life.

In fact, this is a custom; many people say the seventieth birthday, but it is not actually such a round number being celebrated.

For an elderly person’s birthday, any ten years can be called a grand birthday, like ”fiftieth birthday” or ”sixtieth birthday” or ”seventieth birthday,” but this is just a lucky name. In fact, many elderly people celebrate birthdays not at round numbers, but at forty-nine, fifty-nine, sixty-nine, the age ending in nine.

Because nine is the largest number among the ten digits, in many places, to seek good fortune, the custom of celebrating nine rather than ten has formed.

This time, Master Li is celebrating his sixty-ninth birthday, nearing seventy years old; seventy years of life is rare, so the Li Family is very focused on this day, preparing the full set of longevity banner, longevity figure, longevity peach, longevity theater, etc. It is somewhat surprising for Huo Sining that in America, the world of foreigners, they can still respect domestic traditions like this.

Huo Sining originally thought she would enter a venue like a domestic celebrity cocktail party, but found that her expectation was completely different. The Li Family Manor was decorated festively and filled with Huaxia elements; everywhere there were bright decorations, drumming and gongs, no different from some traditional domestic longevity banquets.

The Li Family is quite famous in the American circle here, and many celebrities came to support after receiving the invitation to the Li Family’s birthday banquet, among them quite a few foreign celebrities. They found this distinctive birthday banquet very novel.

Huo Sining is quite famous domestically, but in the American circle here she has no acquaintances, so when she entered the venue, there was not a single familiar face.

Fortunately, Huo Sining was unconcerned about it, calmly following the staff to the reception area at the second-floor staircase.

This is a place specifically for receiving the longevity gifts brought by guests. Of course, these longevity gifts are different from the domestic ones, not in the form of cash gifts, but actual longevity gifts.

This is a habit only found in upper-class circles; in such occasions, presenting cash gifts would appear vulgar and opportunistic, also disrespectful to the host. The more prestigious one is, the more attention is paid to reputation, so at such birthday banquets, the gifts presented must be genuinely selected with care, regardless of their value; what matters is the sentiment.

Because Huo Sining was a new face, when she reached the reception area and handed the gift box to the receptionist, the receptionist glanced at Huo Sining with some surprise.

Huo Sining smiled at that receptionist and wrote down her name at the registration area.

The name Huo Sining had gained some fame in America after the International Treasure Appraisal Conference, but the receptionist initially didn’t connect her with the stage-stealing Huaxia Treasure Appraiser. Seeing the name Huo Sining written, he was suddenly shocked and raised his head abruptly, staring at Huo Sining for several seconds.

After confirming that the woman in front of him was indeed Huo Sining, the receptionist’s expression changed dramatically, and his eyes showed surprise and respect as he said with a smile:

”Miss Huo, welcome, please come this way.”

Huo Sining found the receptionist’s change in attitude somewhat amusing, but thinking about it, this was just an insignificant staff member of the Li Family, so what relation did it have to her? She did not mind.

In the banquet hall, there were already small groups of guests tasting wine and chatting. Since Huo Sining was unfamiliar with these people, she didn’t plan to join in, instead finding a corner to sit down alone, eat something, and play with her phone.

Just as Huo Sining was bored and looked up to see if any acquaintances came to the banquet, a few people walked in from the main door, causing Huo Sining to pause in surprise.

Leading the group was a sixty-something-year-old man followed by two middle-aged men, each followed by four young people, two men and two women. Among them were Li Hang and Xing Jiaojiao, whom Huo Sining had clashed with during Su Zhongqing’s birthday.

As this group entered the Li Family Manor, the attention of more than half of the people in the banquet hall was drawn to them. Li Hang showed a noticeable hint of arrogance and disdain in his eyes, while Xing Jiaojiao’s face was filled with undisguised pride.

The presence of the Glazed Li Family had naturally been announced to those inside. Soon, Li Jun and his father hurried out from the inner courtyard. When the old man leading saw that the people welcoming him were just a few juniors, displeasure showed in his eyes:

”Where is my brother? Why hasn’t he come out?”

Li Jun paused, subconsciously exchanging a glance with his father and frowning slightly, saying:

”Uncle, my grandfather is entertaining guests in the inner courtyard. Please come with me; Old Master has been looking forward to your arrival for a long time.”

The old man seemed inclined to lose his temper upon hearing this but restrained himself due to the number of people present, responded with a light ”Hmm” and walked directly inside without looking at Li Jun.

Huo Sining noticed this anomaly, but since it was the Li Family’s issue, being an outsider, she shouldn’t inquire, so she brushed it off.

What Huo Sining didn’t expect was that shortly afterwards, Li Jun and Yue Shuwen both walked out of the inner courtyard in sync. Li Jun had a dark expression, and even Yue Shuwen didn’t look happy.

The two glanced around the banquet hall before finally spotting Huo Sining sitting in the corner, hurrying over to her location.

Upon reaching Huo Sining, Li Jun rudely picked up a glass of red wine from the table and drank it in one go, but even so, his chest still heaved violently, clearly quite angry.

Originally, Huo Sining wasn’t interested in knowing about these big family matters, but seeing Li Jun’s state, she couldn’t just ignore it, so she casually asked: ”What happened?”

Li Jun didn’t speak, but Yue Shuwen was quick to spill: ”Isn’t it because of Grandfather Li’s younger brother? I had no idea there were such shameless people in the world! You must know the Li Group in Glazed, right?”

Huo Sining nodded: ”I’ve heard something about it. It’s said this Li Group is actually the same family as the Li Family in America, just a branch.”

Li Jun couldn’t help but interject with disdain:

”What branch? In earlier years, when they were in Glazed, before recognizing kin with the Li Family here in America, they lived separately and peacefully. Back then, they were merely a moderately affluent family in Glazed. It was those people shamelessly coming to beg my grandfather. Our old master, soft-hearted, helped after the Liang Family recognized ancestors and returned to the clan, which allowed them to develop over there and the business to grow a little.”
