Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1834: Chapter 1737: Facing Each Other in Court

On the big screen, there was soon a close-up of that Nokia phone interface.

Once everyone present saw what the line displayed on the big screen was, there wasn’t a dry eye.

Dear baby, if you make it out alive, always remember, mom loves you!

This is a mother’s most sincere and selfless love for her child before dying, great and pure, it’s hard not to be moved.

Seeing this scene, those who originally doubted and thought Huo Sining was faking it for publicity finally understood.

Having had such an experience, Huo Sining’s behavior of giving everything to charity seemed not incomprehensible after all.

One would think that anyone who has personally experienced an earthquake and then witnessed such great and selfless motherly love would feel a surge of impulse, longing to protect this mother, no, to protect the thousands of great mothers who exchanged their lives for their children, providing them with a stable and peaceful life.

The charity performance went very smoothly, especially the final act by Huo Sining, which caused a great sensation, not only did the audience donate generously on-site, but even netizens who watched the recorded video of Huo Sining’s magic performance were deeply shocked and expressed their desire to contribute.

Huo Sining did not accept donations, so those netizens looked for other ways, and the Red Cross Association, in order to restore its positive image, unusually issued a statement on Weibo this time, saying it would ensure every donation is implemented efficiently and post the donation details transparently on its website for verification.

This statement did not shirk responsibility nor make any excuses, but was more easily accepted by netizens than any previous tweet by the Red Cross Association, and easier to win the audience’s favor.

Many netizens left comments under the Red Cross Association’s official Weibo, stating:

”I’ll believe you just this once!”

”As an official account, hope you can have a baseline, don’t let the public down!”

”Hopefully you can practice what you preach!”

”...”

Clearly, netizens still had doubts about the Red Cross Association, but compared to other private foundations, they were still willing to trust the official organization, so after the fraudulent donation scandal and Huo Sining’s bare donation incident, many regained trust and donated their money to the Red Cross Association.

Li Wenping, the president of the Red Cross Association, got the news, and his nerves, which had been tense since the Guo Meimei incident, finally relaxed a bit, and a faint smile appeared on his usually stern face.

”This daughter-in-law of the Gu Family is quite ruthless, this move really caught us in a tight spot.” Vice Chairman Tao Chengzhi showed a bitter smile but couldn’t pinpoint what Huo Sining did wrong.

Li Wenping, upon hearing Tao Chengzhi’s words, a sharp look flashed through his eyes: ”What do you know, this is a good thing, ever since that incident, do you think the higher-ups would allow the association to develop unchecked like this? They’ve been watching for a long time.”

Tao Chengzhi was startled, suddenly raising his head to look at Li Wenping.

Li Wenping took out a confidential red-head document and handed it to Tao Chengzhi: ”This document came down several months ago, but I’ve been holding onto it, fearing the chaos below would be uncontainable. I was planning to take it step by step, just afraid it would trigger backlash from those below, this time the daughter-in-law of the Gu Family has given us a suitable opportunity, with this as a pretext, the association’s mechanism reform can definitely be put on schedule.”

Tao Chengzhi looked at the document, increasingly alarmed with each page he turned.

Li Wenping seemed to see through his thoughts, scoffed slightly, and said: ”Old Tao, lived for most of a life, haven’t you figured it out? Society has changed, we’re old, half a foot in the grave, and when we truly rest eternal, we can’t let those behind poke at our backs in derision, can you rest peacefully in the earth then? If these parasites aren’t cleaned up, and the Red Cross Association really collapses in the future, we’d bear the infamy, this concerns us and our descendants!”

Tao Chengzhi was stunned, after a few seconds finally broke into a smile, silently thinking he’d really lost his mind, lived for so many years, yet hadn’t thought things through, truly regressing with age.

”You’re right, I was muddled, this matter is urgent, the association indeed needs some cleaning!”

...

Huo Sining didn’t know her donation and the establishment of the Beauty Fund would cause a major reshuffle within the Red Cross Association, but even if she knew, she wouldn’t care, because this matter itself had nothing to do with her.

The earthquake incident kept busy until late December when Christmas quietly arrived.

However, just two days before Christmas, news broke out that Zhang Ziyi was terminating her contract with her former entertainment company.

This matter caused a big stir, with both sides suing each other in court, looking like it would end up in formal litigation.

Since the fraudulent donation scandal last time, Zhang Ziyi had kept a low profile, with no news surfacing, the entertainment industry changes swiftly, especially for top-tier stars like Zhang Ziyi, a big incident like this inflicted a heavy blow to her career.

If it hadn’t been for Huo Sining’s eighty million fraudulent donation diverting attention, Zhang Ziyi might have been criticized by netizens until she fell to rock bottom, never to rise again.

However, even though Huo Sining shifted the audience’s focus, the fraud scandal was still an irremovable stain for Zhang Ziyi, causing her to fall from grace.

That’s why, despite the huge penalty for breach of contract and taking the court route, Zhang Ziyi was determined to leave her current entertainment company.

Huo Sining vaguely learned some details from Zheng Lixiang, in fact, Zhang Ziyi had truly donated the million, but her money was managed by her agent, not directly supervised by her, so that agent embezzled the money, and even used Zhang Ziyi’s name to preempt quite a bit of money from the entertainment company Zhang Ziyi was in, afterwards, the agent fled abroad.

Clearly donated money, yet still ended up with infamy, Zhang Ziyi’s fate wasn’t much better than Huo Sining’s, at least Huo Sining had people clearing her name, but on Zhang Ziyi’s side, she could only deal with the bitter fruit herself, how could she endure it, so in anger, she took her entertainment company to court.

Since the agent was appointed by the entertainment company, Zhang Ziyi believed the company bore undeniable responsibility;

But the entertainment company argued that hiring agents to serve artists under the company was totally reasonable, it was Zhang Ziyi’s excessive trust in the agent that led to the incident, so the company didn’t want to shoulder responsibility.

It’s because of the endless disputes that the situation escalated and could only be resolved in court.
