Reborn As Super Heiress

Capítulo 1835: Chapter 1738: Li Jun’s Invitation

After hearing these secrets, Huo Sining couldn’t help but sigh.

However, she didn’t have much interaction with Zhang Ziyi; during the time in the “Legend of the Mermaid” crew, they were merely acquaintances who nodded to each other and weren’t as close as she was with Xie Yuxing. Therefore, she deeply sympathized with Zhang Ziyi’s plight, but wouldn’t go out of her way to defend her like a saint.

After all, those who can rise to the position of a first-tier star in a place like the entertainment industry are not easily fooled. In this incident, whether Zhang Ziyi or her entertainment company is at fault, it’s for the court to decide, not something an outsider like her can judge.

Huo Sining didn’t have much of a feeling about Christmas Day since it was a foreign tradition, and Magic Capital doesn’t snow. Hearing the somewhat Western and somewhat Chinese chimes of Jingle Bells, Huo Sining wasn’t really looking forward to it.

However, Yue Shuwen was evidently more accustomed to foreign holidays. After all, she grew up in America, and her favorite holiday was Christmas. So, as Christmas approached, she enthusiastically started organizing, clearly valuing this holiday.

Huo Sining didn’t mind; she let Yue Shuwen handle the villa, to do as she pleased. Zhong Xiaoyao and Su Qingqing also joined Yue Shuwen, and even before Christmas, the few of them were fluttering around the villa like butterflies, setting it up.

Unfortunately, despite their efforts over several days, it was all for nothing, as the day before Christmas, Huo Sining received a call from Li Jun inviting her to America to attend his birthday party, and to celebrate Christmas there.

Huo Sining was relatively familiar with Li Jun, but had little contact with the rest of the Li Family, so she found Li Jun’s call rather baffling, and unhesitatingly refused.

Li Jun seemed to have expected Huo Sining to refuse and explained with a smile: “I knew you’d refuse, but this time, actually, it’s not me inviting you; it’s my grandfather who wishes to meet you.”

“Your grandfather?” Huo Sining was taken aback.

Li Jun nodded on the other side of the phone: “Yes, I mentioned you to him before, and recently, after hearing from Count Adrienne about how you exchanged over a dozen Picasso paintings for a batch of Huaxia antiques from Mr. Earl, he’s very curious about you and hopes to meet you.”

Huo Sining actually didn’t want to have too much contact with the Li Family, but since Li Jun spoke this way, to decline again would seem impolite. So, after hesitating for a few seconds, she nodded and agreed.

“Alright, I’ll go.”

Over there, Yue Shuwen was still decorating the Christmas tree with Qibao, and Huo Sining waved her hand directly: “No need to fuss, we’re not staying in Magic Capital for Christmas.”

Yue Shuwen paused upon hearing this, raising her head to ask in surprise: “Are you going to Imperial Capital? Then go ahead, you can spend some time with Mr. Gu, and we can celebrate in Magic Capital, fewer distractions.”

Huo Sining was speechless: “Who said I’m going to Imperial Capital?”

Yue Shuwen was puzzled: “If not Imperial Capital, then where are you going?”

Huo Sining looked at Yue Shuwen with a sly smile: “To your fiancé’s place!”

Yue Shuwen froze, her face suddenly changing, her eyes flickering a few times, and hesitated: “Are you going to attend Grandfather Li’s birthday party?”

It’s not surprising Huo Sining wasn’t surprised that Yue Shuwen knew about Grandfather Li Jun’s birthday, but Yue Shuwen immediately guessed Huo Sining’s purpose for going to America, which was quite impressive.

Rumor had it that Yue Shuwen and Li Jun’s marriage was arranged while Father Yue was still alive, agreed upon with the Li Family. So after Yue Shuwen’s parents tragically passed away, the Li Family took extra care of her.

However, Yue Shuwen clearly didn’t have romantic feelings for Li Jun, seeing him more as a brother. So, after she escaped from the underground labyrinth at Shenmuzhai’s rear mountain and learned the truth about her parents’ death, she resolutely returned to America to resolve the grievances left by the Huang Family, recovered the Yue Family’s inheritance, and personally explained to the Li Family elders, dissolving her engagement to Li Jun.

Over the years, Li Jun also saw Yue Shuwen as more of a companion and sister, with no romantic intentions. The elders of the Li Family, seeing that they couldn’t force the issue, reluctantly agreed, and the long-standing union between the Li and Yue Families was directly cut off.

Yue Shuwen considered America a place of heartbreak, leaving directly and coming to Magic Capital to lean on Huo Sining.

Huo Sining was somewhat puzzled when she first met Yue Shuwen, but since she wasn’t a nosy person, after Yue Shuwen moved in with her, she didn’t ask her to leave.

After settling in Magic Capital, Yue Shuwen gradually became familiar with Huo Sining, finally dropping the burden of a grand family’s lady, revealing her true nature, and opening up to Huo Sining, sharing stories from her experiences with the Huang and Li Families like spilling beans.

The killer of Father and Mother Yue, Mr. Huang, was killed by Yue Shuwen, and the Yue Family’s inheritance was fully recovered. However, to Yue Shuwen’s regret, the copy of the “Classic of Mountains and Seas” which led to her parents’ deaths, couldn’t be found.

Huo Sining also possessed a copy of the “Classic of Mountains and Seas,” so she was curious whether the edition stolen from Father Yue by Mr. Huang was the same as hers. However, unfortunately, Mr. Huang was dead and the clues were severed. Even if Yue Shuwen wanted to search, she had nowhere to start, only regretfully giving up.

Yue Shuwen had long decided not to return to that sorrowful place in New York, but Huo Sining suddenly received Li Jun’s call and decided to attend the Li Family party, causing Yue Shuwen to hesitate.

Over the years, the Li Family took great care of her, which Yue Shuwen certainly remembered, but she feared that returning to that place would bring back sad memories, which she continuously resisted.

Huo Sining obviously understood the young woman’s mindset, she couldn’t help but sigh, and said:

“Shu Wen, if you truly want to let go, you have to face it candidly; the more you avoid it, the more you won’t escape, spending your whole life in its shadow. It’s better to face it honestly; only by returning and confronting it, can you be freed, and finally let go.”

Yue Shuwen knew Huo Sining was right, but she bit her lip and didn’t respond. After hesitating for several hours, she finally steeled herself and agreed to Huo Sining’s request:

“I’ll go with you!”

While saying this, Yue Shuwen showed an expression of bravely facing near-certain death.
