Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1836: Chapter 1739: Attending the Banquet

The consequence of bringing along Yue Shuwen was that Su Qingqing, Zhong Xiaoyao, and Qibao also tagged along. Huo Sining had no choice but to lead this large group on their way to Rainbow Airport. By the time they arrived in New York, Li Jun was already waiting at the airport. Seeing the big crowd following Huo Sining, he couldn’t help but open his mouth in surprise.

”Brother Jun.”

It had been a long time since Yue Shuwen had returned to America. Suddenly seeing Li Jun, she felt a bit guilty and hesitated for several seconds before inching up to him and calling out timidly.

Li Jun chatted warmly with Huo Sining for a few moments, but then his expression suddenly turned cold. He looked at Yue Shuwen expressionlessly, and it wasn’t until she started feeling a bit uneasy and was on the verge of running away that Li Jun spoke in a gloomy, cold voice:

”You still remember how to come back?”

Yue Shuwen opened her mouth, seemingly wanting to explain, but under Li Jun’s stern, penetrating gaze, she found herself at a loss for words.

”Changed your phone, sold your house, and you didn’t even stay in America. What do you plan to do, cut off all contact with everyone, never to meet us again?”

Under the barrage of Li Jun’s questions, Yue Shuwen felt a tingling on her scalp and hurriedly looked towards Huo Sining, who was watching the scene with arms crossed, as if hoping for some help.

However, unexpectedly, not only did Huo Sining not help her, but she also raised her eyebrows and said with a half-smile:

”You’re right. If I hadn’t persuaded her to come back and take a look, she might never have set foot in America again in this lifetime.”

This remark was like adding fuel to the fire. As soon as Li Jun heard Huo Sining say this, his face immediately darkened like it was about to drip water, and he coldly looked at Yue Shuwen, angrily saying:

”Since you’re ready to give up everything, why did you come back? Just go back to Huaxia, you’re not welcome here!”

Then, turning his head, he instructed the butler behind him, ”Uncle Li, go book a return ticket for Miss Yue, preferably on a flight that leaves immediately!”

Yue Shuwen’s face flushed red. Seeing that Butler Li really followed Li Jun’s orders and was turning towards the ticket counter, tears welled up in her eyes:

”Okay, I know I was wrong, isn’t that enough? Why are you so fierce? I just wanted to get some air, adjust my mood, and start over. I...I didn’t think of never coming back...”

The more she spoke, the softer her voice got, clearly insincere. Li Jun glanced at Yue Shuwen, unceremoniously exposing her lie:

”Didn’t think of not coming back? Then why did you apply for immigration and change to Huaxia Country citizenship? You even forgot to come back on your parents’ death anniversary. If your parents knew their daughter was so heartless, they’d probably be so angry they’d crawl out of the grave!”

Yue Shuwen looked embarrassed, especially being scolded in front of Huo Sining, Zhong Xiaoyao, and Su Qingqing. She felt both ashamed and awkward, wishing she could find a hole to crawl into.

After lecturing her, Li Jun noticed Yue Shuwen’s head hanging lower and lower, with heartache and indulgence flashing briefly in his eyes. Then, he spoke with a stern face, though his tone had softened quite a bit:

”Grandpa couldn’t reach you on the phone and hasn’t stopped sending people to look for you these past six months. A few days ago, he kept mumbling, wondering if you’d come back to celebrate his birthday. You figure out how to apologize to him. I, for one, feel disgraced. You figure out what to do.”

Yue Shuwen was taken aback, cautiously raising her head to glance at Li Jun. Seeing that his expression had softened, she felt relieved, knowing Li Jun wouldn’t drive her away. She hesitantly asked, ”Then, about Uncle Li...”

Li Jun took out his phone and called Butler Li, who was heading to the ticket counter to buy a ticket for Yue Shuwen. ”Uncle Li, no need to buy the ticket for now; let’s go back.”

Upon hearing this, Yue Shuwen felt an immediate relief, looking at Li Jun with a fawning, ingratiating smile.

Regarding the interaction between Li Jun and Yue Shuwen, Huo Sining found it quite amusing. After getting into the Li family’s car, she watched Li Jun and Yue Shuwen with interest, occasionally smiling.

After arriving at the hotel Li Jun had arranged, Yue Shuwen obediently followed Li Jun back to the Li Family Manor. Before leaving, Yue Shuwen shot a resentful look at Huo Sining, who merely hummed in response, ignoring it completely.

Unwillingly, Yue Shuwen clawed at the hotel room door but was no match for Li Jun’s strength. He finally managed to drag her away, pulling and pushing.

It was unclear what Yue Shuwen said at the Li Family, but when Huo Sining received a call from her the next day, her voice sounded considerably lighter, suggesting she had resolved some inner conflicts, at least with the family.

As Huo Sining attended Master Li’s birthday banquet, she naturally had to prepare a gift. Beforehand, she had inquired Yue Shuwen about Master Li’s preferences to prepare an appropriate birthday gift.

Since Adrian had a good relationship with Master Li, Huo Sining knew a bit about him. The old man had a keen interest in Huaxia antiques, with expertise that, according to Adrian, rivaled international Huaxia appraisers.

For this reason, Huo Sining intended to give an antique she had acquired. However, she didn’t have the nerve to give something too modest, and couldn’t part with something too precious. So, she was at a loss until finally giving up.

Fortunately, Yue Shuwen told her that Master Li also loved calligraphy and painting, often reflecting on these arts in his study. After some thought, Huo Sining selected a top-quality Dahongpao bloodstone from her privately withheld few pieces.

Such an item would be priceless outside. Since Master Li appreciated calligraphy and painting, he would certainly need a top-notch seal. Huo Sining believed Master Li would definitely love this piece of Chicken Blood Stone.

Since only she was invited by the Li Family, it wasn’t appropriate to bring Su Qingqing and the others. After some discussion, Su Qingqing volunteered to take Zhong Xiaoyao and Qibao to explore Chinatown.

Li Jun arranged for two Li family bodyguards to accompany them, so Huo Sining had no concerns. She joined the Li family car and headed to the Li Family Manor to attend the banquet.
