Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1805: Chapter 1708: Someone Below

Upon hearing Huo Sining’s words, the soldier suddenly raised his head. After seeing Huo Sining, he was slightly taken aback, seemingly not expecting that a woman had accompanied them in the vehicle.

However, he quickly came to his senses and said, ”I haven’t even tested it yet. How do you know there’s no one buried below? This is a rescue mission, we must conduct careful and rigorous search and rescue. Even if there’s just a breath of life, a slim chance of survival, we cannot give up!”

Seeing the soldier’s earnest expression, Huo Sining found it hard to say that she had already seen through it all. She shrugged nonchalantly, signaling the soldier to continue.

Then, without saying a word, she walked forward to another part of the ruins.

She crouched down, and after a few seconds, suddenly stood up, her face pale, shouting to Meng Jinlong, who was waiting over there:

”There’s someone down here!”

Hearing Huo Sining’s shout, Meng Jinlong hurriedly led a few people towards Huo Sining’s location.

Without wasting words, Huo Sining directly commanded the soldiers, ”At the kitchen position, we need to move these beams away carefully. There’s someone inside, and we must be careful; the person is seriously injured to avoid secondary harm. We must act quickly, or it will be too late!”

Huo Sining looked anxious, but over there, Meng Jinlong and the soldiers were somewhat skeptical.

Without even using a life detector, Meng Jinlong didn’t know how Huo Sining could tell that someone was buried underneath. Although Huo Sining’s rank was higher than his, this rescue operation must be organized and methodical; you can’t just dig through the ruins randomly.

If no one was underneath, taking a group of soldiers to clear the ruins for nothing would not only waste time but also physical energy. Those waiting to be rescued would have to resign to their fate.

Therefore, Meng Jinlong hesitated about Huo Sining’s order.

The soldiers were unaware of Huo Sining’s identity; they took orders from the camp commander. Without Meng Jinlong’s nod, they dared not act.

Seeing Meng Jinlong like this, Huo Sining was instantly frustrated.

She had clearly seen through her Heavenly Eye that two people were hiding under the kitchen, with a child pressed under a woman. The woman had already passed away, but the child was still alive. The child was also injured and barely conscious. If they didn’t act quickly, it might be too late.

Huo Sining, noticing Meng Jinlong’s inaction, knew he didn’t believe her, so she didn’t bother speaking further. She rushed forward, extending her hands to start removing the beams and boards while glaring angrily at Meng Jinlong.

Originally still hesitating, Meng Jinlong was startled by Huo Sining’s look.

His mind turned, and he abruptly realized and cursed himself as a fool.

Even if saving someone wasn’t successful all the time, there was always an opportunity.

And after all, this was his superior; not following the order now might provoke her wrath, and she’d report him, leading to potential trouble in the future. It was better to follow her this once; if no one was underneath, she’d also realize her mistake and feel embarrassed to continue meddling.

Thinking this, Meng Jinlong felt that following her was the best plan. He already suspected this task would be futile but still signaled to the soldiers to proceed.

Upon Meng Jinlong’s signal, the soldiers rushed in, and with the help of these forces, they naturally worked at a much faster pace than Huo Sining.

Huo Sining quickly stepped aside, avoiding obstructing the soldiers, and while directing them on how to move the beams, she glanced towards Meng Jinlong, thinking, ”Didn’t believe me, did you? Soon you’ll see if I’m a charlatan or a true prophet!”

Since Huo Sining saw through the collapse situation with her Heavenly Eye, her commands to the soldiers in moving the debris and ruins were exceptionally orderly. They encountered almost no obstructions and quickly exposed an opening leading to the kitchen.

Soon, a soldier turned on a flashlight and shone it inside.

Unexpectedly, upon seeing it, the soldier was startled and hurriedly looked up, shouting to Meng Jinlong standing nearby: ”Commander, there’s someone down here!”

Startled, Meng Jinlong quickly ran to the ruin where the soldier was: ”Really someone? Are they still alive?”

The soldier shook his head: ”There’s a lot of blood. The injuries seem severe, but whether they’re alive or not is unclear.”

Without delay, Meng Jinlong shouted, ”Hurry, tie a safety rope and go down to check!”

After saying this, Meng Jinlong couldn’t help but glance over at Huo Sining, deeply shocked.

There was actually someone there. Could it be that this woman truly predicted it? Or was it just a coincidence?

This thought flashed through Meng Jinlong’s mind, but he had no time to think further. He anxiously watched the soldier secure the rope and go down. His gaze was fixed on the soldier until he safely reached the ground and extended a hand to feel for breathing in front of the woman lying prone.

”Commander, she has passed away! The body is stiff. She must have been dead for several hours.”

After checking, the soldier quickly discovered that the woman had no breath. His face turned pale, and he hurriedly shouted upwards.

Upon hearing this, Meng Jinlong was instantly disappointed. Instinctively, he glanced over at Huo Sining again, thinking it was indeed a coincidence; this woman was merely guessing randomly. Her words about the person being seriously injured and needing urgent rescue were just nonsense.

However, what puzzled Meng Jinlong was that, upon hearing the news that the person inside had been dead for several hours, Huo Sining remained remarkably calm, showing no signs of being exposed, which left Meng Jinlong baffled and frustrated.

He felt that Huo Sining was merely causing trouble, purposely leading people there to rescue and giving misleading commands, resulting in wasted effort and soldier fatigue in clearing the ruins.

At this moment, Huo Sining’s rank of major general had already lost credibility with Meng Jinlong. He even began to question how this woman’s rank was achieved and had resolved internally not to trust or obey her orders regardless of what she said thereafter.

Nonetheless, just as anger surged within Meng Jinlong, a sudden exclamation came from the bottom of the kitchen ruins.
