Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 793: Chapter 789 Pigeon Blood Red

In the world of gemstones, rubies are relatively scarce and have fine crystals, which is why, usually, individual rubies are under two carats, and those over five carats are extremely rare.

While many countries produce rubies, the most famous ones are undoubtedly from Myanmar.

Just like with jadeite raw stone gambling, Myanmar not only produces jadeite raw stones but also contains a wealth of gemstone original mines. The only known extra-large ruby in the world, weighing 3450 carats, was discovered in Myanmar.

In the jewelry world, the most desirable color of ruby is known as ”pigeon’s blood red.” This kind of gem is more valuable than diamonds, and their luster post-cutting can rival the brilliance of diamonds. The color is rich and vibrant, much like the red of pigeon blood, and is universally recognized as the most beautiful hue among rubies.

Because rubies usually exhibit pleochroism, they generally have a purplish-red or pinkish tone. Attaining pigeon blood red is no easy feat, as only rubies from Myanmar reach the level of pigeon’s blood red, making this variety very scarce and costly. In the gemstone market, these high-quality rubies are referred to as Burmese rubies.

The world’s largest pigeon’s blood ruby weighs only 65 carats. This pigeon’s blood red ruby, named ”Carmen Lucia Ruby,” originated from Myanmar in the 1930s. After more than 70 years of wandering, it was finally taken in by the National Museum of Natural History. However, the purchase price remains unknown to anyone.

In the trading market, many merchants claim to sell pigeon blood red rubies, but in fact, the jewelry world maintains a very strict definition of pigeon blood red, with almost rigorous standards for a gem’s color, clarity, hue, and saturation.

Internationally, the best color grade for rubies is known as VIVIDRED. If marked with PIGEONBLOOD, the value of the ruby becomes immeasurable.

The ruby Zhong Zifan decoded, in terms of color and purity, can absolutely compare to pigeon blood red, but Huo Sining couldn’t be certain whether this gem was from Myanmar, nor could she confirm if it was indeed pigeon blood red.

Since there’s no specific color boundary that distinguishes pigeon blood red from ordinary rubies by mere eyesight, it must undergo professional instrument appraisal and color comparison to determine its quality.

However, just the size of this ruby was enough to be startling, with a size equivalent to a goose egg, its weight could be estimated as not light at all, most likely exceeding two hundred carats. Moreover, considering the color and purity of this gemstone, even those unfamiliar with the field would know this gemstone must be highly valuable.

Not just Zhong Zifan and Liao Song, but even Yang Wen and those other elders forget the words they had advised Huo Sining earlier. At this moment, everyone’s eyes were glued to this red gemstone, few already trembling uncontrollably.

”Such a large ruby, even if it’s not pigeon blood red, must be worth tens of millions, right? My goodness, isn’t that the center waste from the fake rough stone? How did it turn out to be a ruby instead of jadeite?”

”It must have been the faker who drilled into it, mistaking it for a jadeite raw stone. Seeing no features of the Pine Flower Python Belt on that stone, he treated it like a brick material and stuffed it into the Black Oosh. Little did he know that the rock wasn’t any brick material but a gemstone original mine!”

”Haha, this is just too damn unlucky. This person wanted to harm others but ended up shooting himself in the foot. Can you imagine if he knew that such a high-quality gemstone was uncovered from the center cut, would he be hopping mad?”

The onlookers below were abuzz with discussion, feeling pity and mocking the faker. Encountering such misfortune is something that most ordinary people would find hard to accept.

Wang Zhongwei and Zhong Yuejin were already furious to the point of wanting to spit blood, both of them with ashen faces. The surrounding chatter seemed like slaps in their faces, burning with pain.

That a sand hole concealed Ice Jade with Gold Threads was one thing, but that this counterfeit rough stone actually allowed this woman to turn her fortune around completely was something that left Wang Zhongwei utterly speechless, filled with a mix of shock, irritation, and endless regret.

Both were pieces worth their weight in gold, yet he had let them slip through his fingers for a measly two hundred thousand, selling and sending them away. How could Wang Zhongwei feel anything but imbalance in his heart? That he could still stand here was evidence of his sheer courage.

And just at that moment, as if the excitement wasn’t high enough, or perhaps to verify everyone’s speculation, Yang Wen suddenly proposed to prove whether the stone was indeed Pigeon Blood Red.

Yang Wen suggested taking the Pigeon Blood Red to a darker place and then illuminating it with a spotlight.

This method of verification was also something Huo Sining vaguely remembered reading about somewhere; the truly traditional and pure Pigeon Blood Red is from the Myanmar Mogok Mine. The rubies from this mine all have characteristic inclusions, also known as ”syrupy inclusions,” and colored crystal inclusions.

These inclusions give the whole gemstone a fiery feeling, making the red seem like syrup stirred in water, spreading throughout the entire stone like flames. Within the stone, there are numerous colored crystal inclusions, like the flickering sparks within a flame.

To verify, one simply needed to place a top-quality Pigeon’s Blood Ruby in a dark room and shine a strong light on it; the real top-quality Pigeon Blood Red would burst into flames as if it had been set on fire.

When Yang Wen brought it up, Huo Sining naturally had no objections. In no time, Zhong Zifan had arranged the dark room. Liao Song, taking the lead, first brought Yang Wen and seven or eight others into the dark room, then fetched a strong spotlight to test the ruby.

When the spotlight shone on the gemstone, everyone in the room was struck dumb.

The tumbling fiery brilliance was dazzling, at times resembling a Phoenix breaking through the firmament, at times like a layer of fiery dusk scattering in all directions, and then like the last ray of a twinkling sunset shining upon the earth, lingering in the air for a long time.

At that moment, the only words that surfaced in Huo Sining’s mind were: ”Blazing Glory, Red Starlight.”

”It’s out, it’s come out!”

The crowd outside, waiting for the results, were all craning their necks, eager to see the person who was verifying the ruby emerge, not knowing how long they had waited, when they saw the store’s curtain move, and figures like Yang Wen and the other elders walked out from the room one by one.

”How is it, what’s the result?!”

Seeing the stunned expressions on the faces of Yang Wen and the other elders, the crowd below was naturally itching with curiosity, anxious to know the outcome.

”Miss Huo, I, Yang Wen, have been in this circle for so many years and never truly felt admiration for anyone, but today, your performance has indeed earned my profound respect,” Yang Wen said as he came back to his senses and suddenly lifted his head to look at Huo Sining: ”It’s just that I still have one doubt.”
