Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 768: Chapter 764 Zhong Zifan’s Request

”Dad, this...”

Seeing Huo Sining and Luo Jinzhi come out of the kitchen, Luo Jin Feng couldn’t help speaking out.

But before she could finish her sentence, she was interrupted by Luo’s father, ”I know what you want to say, but from these past few days of observation, do you think Huo Sining is a girl from an ordinary family?”

Luo Jin Feng was stunned, not understanding what her father meant.

Even though Luo’s father hadn’t received much education, the meals he had eaten over the years weren’t for naught, from these past few days observing Huo Sining’s behavior at the Luo family’s home, he knew that this girl came from a wealthy family, not a poor background.

”To us, abalone is a precious item, but in that girl’s eyes, it is just something new to taste,” he said. ”You can tell by her indifferent expression that she doesn’t care much about it. If you refuse, it would only dampen her spirits.”

Having said this, Luo’s father sighed again, ”I don’t know how our Jin Zhi happened to become friends with a kid from such a family. I’ve had a feeling these past few days that our Jin Zhi has hit the jackpot. Relying on this girl in the future, it seems our family will finally have hope.”

”Dad, aren’t you being too mystical? Huo Sining is just a young girl, even a few months younger than our Jin,” Luo Jin Feng said, somewhat disbelieving.

After hearing what Luo’s father said, Luo Jin Feng was skeptical.

Luo’s father looked at the girl in the courtyard and smiled without further explanation.

The abalone feast at night was indeed enjoyed heartily. Although the Luo Family lived in this small fishing village, the seafood from East Sea was very authentic, and Luo Jin Feng’s culinary skills utterly conquered Huo Sining. She ended up eating an extra large bowl of rice that night, and drank a lot of the delicious abalone soup, nearly bursting her stomach.

After dinner, Huo Sining had planned to excuse herself, claiming she overate and needed to take a walk on the beach to digest, then slip away unnoticed to release the Old Turtle back into the sea. But to Huo Sining’s surprise, when Luo Jinzhi heard she wanted to take a walk, she actually offered to join her. Huo Sining was at a loss for words, reluctant to decline outright, so she had to give up her plan of setting the creature free and silently mourned for the Old Sea Turtle in her heart.

According to their travel plans, they were supposed to go to the city early the next morning and take a train back to S City. But while she and Luo Jinzhi were still walking along the beach, Huo Sining unexpectedly received a call from Zhong Zifan.

”Miss Huo, it’s me,” Zhong Zifan asked with a laugh, ”Are you still in Mindong?”

Huo Sining was a bit surprised, ”Yes, but we plan to return to S City tomorrow. Our school starts in five days. Mr. Zhong, is there something you need?”

There was a hint of hesitation in Zhong Zifan’s voice, ”I heard from Liao Song that Miss Huo, you have a knack for Jadeite gambling?”

Huo Sining laughed, ”I wouldn’t dare say I’m skilled, but playing around with it is fine. Why, Boss Zhong, isn’t your business in Chicken Blood Stones? Are you now also dealing in Jadeite rough stone?”

Zhong Zifan gave a wry smile and said, ”There’s really no other way. Since opening this jade-betting shop, many people have asked us whether we sell jadeite rough. Liao Song and I thought about catering to the market, so we got a batch of brick-like rough from a boss and displayed them in the shop to make it look a bit better than nothing.”

Hearing what Zhong Zifan said, Huo Sining was immediately confused and didn’t understand why Zhong Zifan had called her:

”Brick-like rough? Boss Zhong, you can’t possibly want me to go to your shop and pick out a few missed bargains from that batch of brick-like rough, can you?”

Huo Sining’s words had a hint of teasing, but Zhong Zifan felt somewhat embarrassed and quickly denied and explained, ”No, no, you’ve misunderstood. This time I’m facing a thorny issue and have come to seek Miss Huo’s help.”

”Boss Zhong is too polite. We can be considered acquaintances, and when a friend is in need, as long as it doesn’t go against my principles, I will naturally step forward and offer all the help I can.”

Huo Sining didn’t know why Zhong Zifan was seeking her out, but since he had come to her for help, she wouldn’t outright reject him.

”It’s not something that goes against principles. You know why I opened this jade-betting shop. My uncle now sees me as a thorn in his side, constantly trying to trip me up. While I have opened the shop, to really establish a foothold in the Fuzhou area, I need a few good stones as the showpieces of the shop, or I’m afraid it won’t be long before I have to close my doors.”

”So, just yesterday I came across a piece of rough with a very good performance. The rough belongs to a relative of a friend of mine, who is said to have collected it for many years and never had the heart to cut it open. I had a veteran jade-betting master take a look at it, and the master said the rough’s performance was good, but he didn’t give me a definite answer either, so I’m feeling a bit uneasy, therefore...”

After listening to Zhong Zifan, Huo Sining no longer misunderstood, ”So you want me to take another look at it, right?”

Zhong Zifan, who had initially felt awkward and embarrassed, as he thought it hard to voice such a request, didn’t expect Huo Sining to be so direct, leaving him unsure of how to continue the conversation.

Huo Sining, however, understood Zhong Zifan’s intentions. He wouldn’t have sought her out if the rough wasn’t performing exceptionally well, and it was clear that Zhong Zifan was tempted, but he was uncertain and hesitant to make a move without confidence.

It looked as though the pressure from his uncle lately had made Zhong Zifan act less impulsively than before; such caution and carefulness are essential for a businessman, yet also something a businessman least wants to exhibit.

Being cautious means being distrusting; while there’s nothing wrong with caution, and those who are careful in business often avoid many big losses, those who want to make big money cannot be hesitant.

Nevertheless, Huo Sining knew that Zhong Zifan was now in a desperate situation, without any retreat. Lacking confidence, he could no longer afford not to consider the consequences of his actions.

”You want to buy that rough and cut it open as the treasure of your shop, right? But Boss Zhong, you should know, even immortals can’t be sure about the jade within. Betting on stones is mostly a losing game, and no one can guarantee that it will definitely contain jadeite.”

Zhong Zifan nodded, ”I know, but I also know that Miss Huo, you have an impressive track record in Ruili, having consecutively extracted emerald Heavenly Beads and imperial green from two pieces of Mogang Rock; such achievements prove Miss Huo’s capabilities. I’m asking for your help just for peace of mind.”

”So if I don’t help, you’ll buy it anyway?” Huo Sining questioned in return.

Zhong Zifan was silent for two seconds before he finally answered, ”Yes.”

Huo Sining couldn’t help sighing upon hearing this and after a moment said, ”Tomorrow let’s take the bus directly to Fuzhou Bus Station. Remember to come pick me up.”
