Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 770: Chapter 766: Going Back on One’s Word

”Uncle, you really are a busy man with high status, I bump into you everywhere!”

Zhong Zifan clenched his fists tightly, forcing a smile on his face that made him look quite ugly as he greeted Zhong Yuejin. Then he turned to the master of the house and said:

”Boss Wang, this isn’t the way to do business, is it? You had agreed to let me take a look at the jade first.”

”Uh...” Boss Wang looked unnatural, stammering without knowing quite what to say.

When Zhong Zifan entered the room and saw Zhong Yuejin, he knew things were going to be bad, so he wasn’t surprised by Boss Wang’s expression. Nevertheless, he still felt indignant; this Wang was so untrustworthy!

In fact, Zhong Zifan had put down a deposit of ten thousand yuan on the jade after seeing it yesterday. By paying the deposit, he had secured the right of first purchase, but now Wang was deceptively courting another buyer behind his back, engaging in double-dealing—this was just too unprincipled!

Zhong Zifan even suspected that if he hadn’t turned up unexpectedly that morning, Wang might have silently sold the jade and it wouldn’t have been impossible for him to break the agreement.

Thinking this, an angry light shone in Zhong Zifan’s eyes.

Of course, half of his anger was towards Boss Wang, and the other half was towards Zhong Yuejin.

The matter of buying jade was something Zhong Zifan had stumbled upon the day before yesterday; not many people knew of it. Yet, in such a short amount of time, Zhong Yuejin had learned of his movements and showed up at Wang Zhongwei’s home just as he was preparing to make his move.

Zhong Zifan was certain, this was no coincidence, it was a premeditated move by Zhong Yuejin! He even suspected that Zhong Yuejin had planted a spy by his side to shadow him, as it was too coincidental that he happened to find Wang Zhongwei’s home just at that time!

The more Zhong Zifan thought about it, the more possible it seemed, so when he looked at Zhong Yuejin, his eyes nearly shot fire, as if he were about to rush over and pummel Zhong Yuejin’s smug face the very next second.

Upon hearing Zhong Zifan’s ”busy man with high status,” Zhong Yuejin’s face also darkened.

He wasn’t a fool; he could clearly hear the accusation in Zhong Zifan’s words.

It is usually said ”a person of high status often forgets,” or ”a big mouth that eats from all over,” but in Zhong Zifan’s mouth, these two sayings had combined.

”Busy man with high status” clearly implied that Zhong Yuejin had a big mouth and was aggressively grabbing opportunities—it was no wonder Zhong Yuejin’s face looked terrible!

But he was able to keep his cool. Despite his unpleasant expression, he still looked over at Wang Zhongwei, who was hesitating, waiting for Wang to speak.

”Xiao Zhong, I’m offering more for that piece of jade than you are,” Wang Zhongwei finally said.

Understanding dawned on Zhong Zifan at Wang Zhongwei’s words, a chill flashed in his eyes as he glanced over the triumphantly smiling face of Zhong Yuejin and took a deep breath before asking, ”May I ask what price Boss Zhong is offering?”

”Two million!” Wang Zhongwei stopped beating around the bush.

”I’ll have to take another look, but if my dear nephew is ready to make a move, I wouldn’t mind competing with you for it,” Zhong Yuejin said with a smile nearby.

Such a despicable thing to say, as if ”if you’re ready to make a move, then I’ll contest.” This meant he didn’t plan to buy right now, but would bid to drive up the price if you were to buy—wasn’t this a flagrant display of shamelessness?

”Let me tell you, Boss Wang, you do know the rules of gambling on stones, don’t you? There must be a proper order, I’ve already paid the deposit. Now you’re just tossing me aside. Even if you were a monk from a temple, or a mere porter, do you really think I couldn’t handle you?”

Zhong Zifan stared at Wang Zhongwei with a cold sneer.

”What monk, what temple, I have no idea, all I know is this is my house, the raw materials are mine, so of course I have the final say!”

Hearing Zhong Zifan’s words, Wang Zhongwei felt somewhat irritated, ”Moreover, this transaction hasn’t even started yet, have we signed a contract? If not, on what basis are you saying that I’m not following the rules?”

Wang Zhongwei didn’t take Zhong Zifan seriously at all, so he didn’t take Zhong Zifan’s threats to heart in the slightest.

”So, Boss Wang, are you planning to renege now?” Zhong Zifan’s temper flared up rapidly, although his words were impolite, his face was still smiling.

”My dear nephew, doing business is all about harmony. I’ve been around for quite a few decades, yet I’ve never seen anyone do business like you. Are you planning on coercion?”

Zhong Yuejin, who was at the side and not willing to be left out as the situation became increasingly tense, quickly interjected with veiled sarcasm, and he didn’t forget to make eyes at Wang Zhongwei as he spoke.

”Zhong Yuejin! Don’t go too far!”

Zhong Zifan had been suppressing his emotions and didn’t intend to bother with Zhong Yuejin, but this man was obviously targeting him, which was pushing things too far!

Zhong Yuejin had a careless facade, but his eyes flickered with ruthlessness:

”How about it, my dear nephew, are you planning to fight your uncle, or what? I’ll tell you now, I’m getting involved in this matter today! For this raw material, let’s rely on our own abilities and see who can outdo whom!”

Wang Zhongwei, hearing this, immediately brightened up, feeling he had found a way out and quickly seized the opportunity:

”Exactly, doing business is all about being amicable. Xiao Zhong, no matter how you look at it, Yuejin is your uncle. Whoever buys this piece of raw material, isn’t it still in the family? Since both of you want this raw material, then let the highest bidder get it; this issue can be easily resolved.”

After saying this, Wang Zhongwei’s face showed a greedy gleam, displaying a triumphant look.

Zhong Zifan’s eyes were red with anger, wanting to curse, but he was helpless against Wang Zhongwei and Zhong Yuejin.

Indeed, Zhong Zifan had previously agreed with Wang Zhongwei on a transaction for one million two hundred thousand, but now Zhong Yuejin had come out of nowhere and pushed the price up to two million. Anyone would be furious at this turn of events.

Moreover, it was clear that Zhong Yuejin was here just to cause trouble. Paying more was one thing, but the real fear was that after all the strife, he wouldn’t end up with the raw material at all.

Just thinking about this made Zhong Zifan seethe with anger.

But what could he do? The raw material hadn’t changed hands yet; even if Wang Zhongwei was being dishonest, Zhong Zifan couldn’t do anything about it. He couldn’t possibly resort to robbery, could he?

”Pfft—”

Just then, a chuckle suddenly came from the side.

Every gaze instantly turned towards the person next to Zhong Zifan, landing on a slender young girl.
