Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 775: Chapter 771: Let the Uncle Have It!

Indeed, upon hearing the bid of 2.51 million, Zhong Yuejin’s face darkened, and he glared at Huo Sining with a cold look in his eyes.

Zhong Zifan was also taken aback; he hadn’t expected Huo Sining to continue bidding. This was completely beyond his expectations, and it left him feeling both anxious and frustrated.

Huo Sining had already told him that the rough stone was a fake, so, of course, he wouldn’t genuinely plan to spend more than two and a half million on a piece of material that was worthless. Although he had previously told Wang Zhongwei that Huo Sining’s intentions were his own, seeing Huo Sining randomly call out such high bids made it hard for him to stay calm.

Certainly, Huo Sining knew what Zhong Zifan was worried about. The older one gets in the ”old rivers and lakes,” the more cautious they become. Although Huo Sining was younger than Zhong Zifan, her actions were much bolder.

However, courage is based on one’s level of certainty. Because she knew what was hidden inside the rough stone, Huo Sining behaved the way she did.

For she knew that whether the stone was bought or let go, it wouldn’t result in a loss for Zhong Zifan.

Yet Zhong Zifan couldn’t understand Huo Sining’s recklessness, and an anxious expression inevitably appeared on his face.

Huo Sining gave Zhong Zifan a look, signaling him not to speak.

Zhong Yuejin and Wang Zhongwei, both being old hands at this, certainly noticed Zhong Zifan’s anxiety and Huo Sining’s subtle gesture to him.

These two were seasoned players in the game of plots and schemes, naturally considering things with greater complexity.

Originally, Huo Sining’s look to Zhong Zifan was meant simply as reassurance, telling him not to worry.

But in the eyes of Wang Zhongwei and Zhong Yuejin, it took on a different meaning.

Because in these past few days, Zhong Zifan had taken a great interest in this rough stone, initially leaving a deposit, then calling several times to inquire about it, and today he had suddenly shown up early. This behavior made both Wang Zhongwei and Zhong Yuejin feel that Zhong Zifan was intent on securing the stone.

So seeing Zhong Zifan’s look of disdain and anxiety, along with the signal to Huo Sining, led them to believe that Zhong Zifan was deliberately feigning disinterest, wanting them to think he didn’t have a high opinion of the stone.

As for Zhong Zifan’s ”clumsy performance,” Zhong Yuejin and Wang Zhongwei thought they saw through it clearly, and they weren’t satisfied with the 2.51 million bid.

Following their logic, if they wanted to make Zhong Zifan bleed, they would have to raise the bid to at least three million.

Therefore, although Zhong Yuejin looked grim, he still nonchalantly added another hundred thousand after Huo Sining’s bid.

Huo Sining, not to be outdone, immediately raised the bid by another two hundred thousand. This act of escalating the bid further convinced Zhong Yuejin that Zhong Zifan had deliberately sent Huo Sining to bid, all according to a premeditated plan, and that Zhong Zifan was very keen on the stone and wouldn’t give up without obtaining it.

This probing result filled Zhong Yuejin with smug satisfaction. He glanced at Wang Zhongwei imperceptibly and added another hundred thousand.

2.91 million. Following the auction process, Zhong Yuejin estimated that up next, Zhong Zifan would place a bid, aiming for three million—that was their target figure. As long as Zhong Zifan called out three million, they could offload the stone.

Zhong Yuejin and Wang Zhongwei both revealed expressions of ease on their faces, as if they both believed the plan was about to close perfectly.

Unfortunately for them, they were celebrating too soon. If Huo Sining really let them succeed, that would have been the real joke.

”2.91 million, for a top-quality gambling stone with the Pine Flower Python Band pattern and excellent red spots, this price indeed isn’t too high. Let me think if I can make a higher bid.”

Huo Sining had been watching Wang Zhongwei and Zhong Yuejin’s eyes. She noticed these two showed signs of wrapping things up, so she naturally knew their coordinated bidding phase was coming to an end.

When they heard Huo Sining say this, Zhong Yuejin and Wang Zhongwei neither agreed nor disagreed, conforming to their certainty that Huo Sining was merely posturing, pretending to be in a difficult position, but in reality was sure to raise the bid soon.

A smile that was not quite a smile appeared on Huo Sining’s face. When Zhong Zifan looked over, she winked slyly at Zhong Zifan and suddenly said, ”Well, since Uncle Zhong is so fond of this piece of rough, we won’t compete for it. Let’s leave it to Uncle Zhong!”

At Huo Sining’s words, a look of astonishment immediately replaced the casual expression on Zhong Yuejin’s face, while the smiling Wang Zhongwei’s face instantly cracked.

Not compete anymore?! Are you kidding me?

Wang Zhongwei and Zhong Yuejin exchanged glances, both revealing a peculiar look in their eyes.

What’s going on here, what about the three million? Why isn’t this girl playing by the rules? Just a moment ago you were all bluster, acting as if you were determined to win, and now you’re saying you won’t compete anymore? Are you playing games with us?

When Zhong Zifan heard Huo Sining say she wouldn’t compete, the heart that had been hanging in his throat finally settled down.

In his mind, Zhong Zifan imagined that if the rough stone were real, maybe he really would have bid with Zhong Yuejin up to three million, but knowing now that there was something wrong with the rough stone, he wished he could just leave immediately. So, as he watched Huo Sining bid, his heart was up in his throat, turning flips, fearing the piece might end up in his own hands.

Fortunately, although Huo Sining was crazy, she still had a sense of proportion and timely stopped her pursuit at the three-million threshold.

Zhong Zifan’s face remained calm, but he had to admit that having Zhong Yuejin unexpectedly drop 2.91 million into the hole gave him an incomparable thrill. It felt as refreshing as taking a cold shower on a scorching hot day, completely invigorating both body and mind.

”Xiao Zhong, are you really not going to bid on this rough?”

Wang Zhongwei couldn’t quite believe it. They had analyzed Zhong Zifan’s psychology, and given the performance of this piece of rough, any gambling stone person would probably not resist its temptation. Now at the three-million mark, Zhong Zifan’s sudden halt and statement of non-competition made Wang Zhongwei feel stuck, as if Zhong Zifan shouldn’t have given up so soon.

At Wang Zhongwei’s words, Zhong Zifan actually laughed. ”Boss Wang, you must be joking. With my uncle’s financial power, where could I possibly compete? So, I better give up. Since my uncle likes it, I will just congratulate him right here. The rough stone is yours, Uncle. I wish you a victorious start and a great increase in value upon Stone Gambling!”

These words carried a trace of irony, especially grating in Zhong Yuejin’s ears.

A fake piece of rough stone, how could its value increase upon cutting? Wasn’t that a blatant slap in the face?
