Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 784: Chapter 780: A Bad Idea? Hoist with One’s Own Petard?

Wang Zhongwei also felt that something was amiss, ”You didn’t say anything, so how did he know that I bought the Heiwusha from Hu Youmin, and also knew about the hundred grand I still hadn’t paid Hu? If you didn’t tell him, who did? Surely you’re not suggesting I blabbed it myself?”

The two argued until they were red in the face, with neither admitting anything. They quickly came to one conclusion: they had been played by Zhong Zifan!

”Damn it, what the hell is going on? How did that bastard know about the fake raw stone matter?”

After listening to Wang Zhongwei recount what happened after he left the Wang Family yesterday, Zhong Yuejin grew increasingly furious, feeling more and more aggrieved as he thought about it.

Suddenly, he remembered the call that associate made to him just now and quickly asked, ”Since he knew that the Hei Wusha was a fake raw stone, how did you manage to sell it? Zhong Zifan isn’t that stupid to knowingly buy a fake raw stone from you, right?”

Hearing Zhong Yuejin’s question, a smug look involuntarily spread across Wang Zhongwei’s already enraged face:

”I didn’t sell it to him. He said the Hei Wusha was a fake raw stone, so he chose another one from my Curio Shelf and bought it for two hundred thousand. He also asked for the Hei Wusha as a freebie. I bought that fake raw stone from Hu Youmin for two hundred thousand. Although he called me out, Zhong Zifan still spent two hundred thousand on a worthless piece of junk stone from me. So, in the end, I broke even; he didn’t profit, and I didn’t lose.”

As he reached this point, Wang Zhongwei wore an air of complacency, clearly very pleased with yesterday’s transaction.

”Two hundred thousand for a piece of junk stone? Did he buy that Shui Fan Sha with the Sand Hole from your Curio Shelf?”

Wang Zhongwei looked surprised, ”How did you know?”

Only he, Zhong Zifan, and Huo Sining knew about this matter, and now Zhong Yuejin had correctly guessed it. This immediately put Wang Zhongwei on alert—where on earth did Zhong Yuejin get this information?

When Zhong Yuejin heard how Wang Zhongwei responded, he knew his guess had been on the mark—the two raw stones at the entrance of Dianshifang were indeed the two he bought from Wang Zhongwei.

But why? As Zhong Yuejin understood the origin of the two raw stones, not only did it fail to resolve the confusion in his heart, but it also made him even less clear.

He couldn’t figure out what Zhong Zifan was up to. Of the two raw stones, one was a fake, and the other was junk stone; both had virtually no chance of increasing in value. Yet now, not only had Zhong Zifan bought them, but he was also claiming he wanted to cut them openly. Why was he doing this?

”I just heard some rumors outside that Zhong Zifan is going to have an open stone cutting at the entrance of Dianshifang today. I had someone inquire about it, and the two raw stones he plans to cut are supposedly those two you sold—Hei Wusha and Shui Fan Sha,” Zhong Yuejin said gravely.

”What?” Wang Zhongwei was slow to comprehend, ”An open stone cutting? A fake raw stone and a piece of junk stone, are they even worth cutting open? Has Zhong Zifan got a screw loose? Is he sick in the head?”

Zhong Yuejin also thought this to himself, but he didn’t say it aloud, ”Not only that, but it’s said that he has notified quite a few people to come and observe. I heard that even before the doors were open, people were already rushing over to see what the fuss was about. I think he’s run out of tricks, so he simply put on this public stone cutting stunt. It’s probably just to create a buzz and catch people’s attention, right? It seems like he’s been pushed into a corner by us and has no choice but to resort to such despicable means that can’t make it onto the stage.”

Wang Zhongwei snorted with derision, ”But anyone with common sense knows that this simply won’t work, parading those two pieces of rough jade that are clearly going to be ruined. There are so many people watching; isn’t he just smashing his own brand instead of creating hype? It’s foolish. I think this time, instead of catching anyone’s eye, he’s digging his own grave!”

”No matter what it is, this matter has nothing to do with us. Since he’s so arrogant, let’s join in on the fun too. When the time comes and the stones are ruined, we’ll find an opportunity to throw a few more down, to vent some of this pent-up frustration!”

As for being played around by Zhong Zifan yesterday, Zhong Yuejin was extremely frustrated and had been brooding over it, looking for an opportunity to regain face. Now that an opportunity had presented itself, Zhong Yuejin would certainly not miss the chance to kick a man when he’s down.

Wang Zhongwei immediately understood Zhong Yuejin’s intentions. His eyes flashed with cunning, and he smirked. ”It just so happens that I also want to know what kind of crap a rough stone with a sand hole, which has been lying in my house for so many years, can produce. Let’s go and have a look together.”

The two men agreed to join in on the spectacle together and soon set off from their respective homes to meet up on Antique Street.

By this time, Antique Street was extraordinarily lively, especially in front of Dianshifang, where the usually deserted storefront was now packed with onlookers, three layers inside and three layers outside.

On the steps in front of Dianshifang, there was a stone cutting machine, with indeed two pieces of rough jade laid on it. Among the crowd of onlookers, every now and then someone would step up to the platform and pick up the two pieces of rough jade to examine them.

Wang Zhongwei and Zhong Yuejin squeezed into the crowd and immediately spotted the two familiar pieces of rough jade on the stone cutting machine. They exchanged a glance, seeing the look of mockery and schadenfreude in each other’s eyes.

When he first heard about it from the shop assistant, Zhong Yuejin didn’t think much of it, but now seeing the fake rough jade with his own eyes, he couldn’t help but feel a mix of laughter and tears. Zhong Zifan must have been hit on the head by a door to come up with such a bad idea. Once this rough jade was cut, Dianshifang was likely to become the laughingstock of the entire Fuzhou City.

Zhong Yuejin and Wang Zhongwei thought they had seen through the truth of the matter and were quite smug about it. They looked at the eager crowd, packed together waiting for the show, and almost wished they could stand on a high platform and loudly reveal the deception behind the two pieces of rough jade.

However, they restrained themselves. They preferred to see Zhong Zifan destroy his own brand after the rough stones crumbled and then meekly pack up and go home. That outcome would obviously be more satisfying than if they exposed the farce right now.

Just as Zhong Yuejin and Wang Zhongwei exchanged knowing smiles, suddenly someone in front shouted, ”Miss Huo is out, Miss Huo is out!”

At this shout, the entire crowd stirred, and some people even started to yell loudly, their faces showing excitement and thrill.

Zhong Yuejin and Wang Zhongwei looked up, and indeed, the person who was coming out of Dianshifang was the same Miss Huo who had accompanied Zhong Zifan to the Wang Family yesterday.
