Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 757: Chapter 753: Following Prime Minister Turtle

However, after pondering over the actions of that old sea turtle, Huo Sining found herself in a state of amused frustration.

No wonder, no matter how she tried to lure it with spiritual energy, the old sea turtle simply refused to leave the reef. It turned out that the creature had found such a precious treasure and was terrified that if it moved, the giant Tridacna would be stolen. Therefore, even with the presence of spiritual energy, it was not fooled.

Understanding this, Huo Sining abandoned the idea of taking the old sea turtle back for research. After unceremoniously storing the Tridacna in her storage ring, she paused to think and ultimately decided to release the old sea turtle back out.

The moment Huo Sining released the old sea turtle, it once again sprawled on the reef.

Since time was frozen within the storage ring, the old sea turtle didn’t notice anything amiss, let alone know that it had been in another space for a while.

But the instant it lay on the reef, it sensed something was wrong. The sensation beneath it was off. The giant Tridacna it had been fiercely guarding had vanished!

Now, Prime Minister Turtle panicked and began to frantically circle the reef, digging, and burrowing beneath it, stopping just short of digging three feet into the ground.

What frustrated it was that no matter how hard it looked, the Tridacna was nowhere to be found; it had disappeared into thin air.

The old sea turtle, however, did not blame Huo Sining for this. In its eyes, Huo Sining was just a small creature, clearly incapable of hiding such a large shellfish. Therefore, it did not suspect that the humanoid creature standing beside it was the culprit who had stolen its treasure.

After searching in vain, the sea turtle finally gave up on looking further. No longer fixating on the mysteriously disappeared Tridacna, it cautiously surveyed its surroundings and then prepared to leave, paddling its limbs.

Seeing that the old sea turtle was about to leave, Huo Sining became curious. Given the sea turtle’s appearance, was it possibly going to search for another Tridacna?

Moving by impulse, Huo Sining’s mouth curled into a sly grin as a mischievous idea came to her. She fixed her gaze on Prime Minister Turtle, who was slowly gliding through the water, and quietly shifted her feet, following closely behind.

Tridacna was a valuable find, but Huo Sining, being an outsider, wasn’t very familiar with these sea regions. Relying on her luck alone would not work again to find such a treasure.

But this old sea turtle was different. Having lived in these waters for hundreds of years, it surely knew the area well. Following it might lead to other Tridacnas.

Huo Sining did not think there was anything unethical about snatching food from the mouth of an old turtle. At worst, she would later use her spiritual energy to attract more jellyfish or such creatures and give the fellow a hearty meal as compensation.

It was unclear whether the old sea turtle noticed Huo Sining stalking behind it. However, even if it was aware, it wouldn’t perceive Huo Sining as a threat since it did not sense any danger from her. Instead, the faint aura emanating from Huo Sining’s Water-Repelling Pearl strangely made it want to get closer. Thus, as Huo Sining trailed behind the old creature, it showed no signs of aggression or displeasure.

Following the trail through the seabed’s rocky terrain and past an underwater forest, Huo Sining began to wonder if the Old Turtle planned to take her to a trench. Just then, the old fellow suddenly halted and took a turn, arriving at a dense thicket of seaweed.

Huo Sining followed suit and found herself in the Seaweed Thicket.

These seaweeds grew upwards toward the water’s surface as if they were trying to leap out and absorb the sunlight. They were incredibly tall, their filamentous fronds interweaving as they drifted in the water, making it seem like there was no end in sight from the ocean floor.

After arriving at the Seaweed Thicket, the Old Sea Turtle made a round and then suddenly burrowed into the mass of seaweed. Its massive body struggled briefly among the fronds before disappearing from view.

Huo Sining suddenly panicked and hurried after the Old Turtle, plunging into the seaweed. Parting the Seaweed Forest, she moved forward step by step. It took her about four or five minutes of struggling before she finally emerged from the dense thicket.

By then, the Old Turtle was nowhere to be seen. Huo Sining cursed the old creature for being so sly, wondering if it had sensed her intention and tried to throw her off by leading her into this thicket.

As she grumbled to herself, she lifted her head and the sight before her left her dumbfounded.

She was at a very flat section of the ocean floor, approximately 120 to 130 meters deep. Laying eyes across it, all she could see was the seabed covered in fine sand, home to schools of fish swimming leisurely, along with a variety of small corals, seaweeds, sea urchins, and Sea Stars all thriving.

But what rooted Huo Sining to the spot was not these familiar sights of the seabed—it was the countless wrecks of ships buried in the fine sandy bed.

Looking across, she saw ships with their bows pointing upward, hulls buried into the seabed, some with only their sails and decks remaining, and others entirely overturned on the ocean floor. The numerous shipwrecks lay exposed on the surface of the sediment, seemingly endless in number.

The remains of these sunken ships were long beyond recognition, some even fused with the surrounding rocks and sand. Seagrass and moss had grown over their hulls, or they had been so corroded by seawater that they would crumble upon touch.

Seeing these shipwrecks, Huo Sining’s heart began to pound. It was clear these vessels were not from the current era. Their construction, predominantly wooden structures, indicated they were at least relics from the last century.

Just by examining the structures and design of these ships, Huo Sining could tell that not only were there domestically commissioned vessels, but also some from medieval Europe.

The seabed in this area was quite gentle, but no one would have expected that a trove of shipwrecks so immense could be hidden beneath this boundless bed. Not a single one of the antique books Huo Sining had perused had ever mentioned this ship graveyard.

Hence, Huo Sining surmised these shipwrecks may have been slowly brought here by currents. It might be the elevated land surrounding the bed that had prevented these vessels from being swept away, allowing them to take root here.

If these shipwrecks could be salvaged, it would be possible to create a museum of ancient vessels, but Huo Sining knew that was unlikely. Apart from the ships being decayed to a point where exposing them to air would cause immediate disintegration, the challenge of manually raising these remains from the depths of over a hundred meters with current technology was far from simple.
