Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 756: Chapter 752 King Conch Shell

Huo Sining found it amusing and decided to subtly release the Spiritual Energy of the Azure Pearl, hoping to convey goodwill to the sea turtle that seemed ready for battle.

The sea turtle caught the scent of the Azure Pearl’s Spiritual Energy and its eyes immediately lit up with surprise and delight.

Huo Sining had done this before and was well aware of how tempting the Spiritual Energy of the Azure Pearl was to these underwater creatures, so she felt confident that the sea turtle would be unable to resist coming closer to her.

However, this time Huo Sining miscalculated. Indeed, the sea turtle had sensed the Spiritual Energy of the Azure Pearl, and its eyes certainly betrayed a greedy desire, but the old creature simply shook its body a few times and stubbornly didn’t move an inch.

Seeing this, Huo Sining was immediately taken aback. She stared at the old sea turtle in front of her, puzzled and perplexed, wondering if her tried-and-true Water-Repelling Pearl was somehow ineffective this time?

Unwilling to believe this, Huo Sining who had only released a small amount of Spiritual Energy earlier, now decided to increase the dose, condensing the energy into tiny beads before scattering them in front of the sea turtle.

These tiny beads immediately attracted the surrounding marine life, not just schools of fish and shrimp soldiers and crab generals, but even sea stars and jellyfish drifted towards the Spiritual Energy, all except for the old sea turtle, which continued to huddle on the reef, as if embodying the spirit of an unmoved mountain in the midst of encircling armies.

Well, this really was strange!

Huo Sining was puzzled and increasingly curious about the old sea turtle, inspecting it several times from all angles, but seeing nothing unusual, she thought to herself: Could it be that the Spiritual Energy of the Water-Repelling Pearl held no appeal for this sea turtle? But that seemed impossible, other marine species were drawn to the energy so eagerly, so why wasn’t this sea turtle taking the bait?

This left Huo Sining completely baffled. After some thought, she decided to capture the sea turtle and take it into her space to study what made it so exceptional.

Seizing the moment when the old sea turtle was distracted, Huo Sining made a swift move like a bolt from the blue, extending her wicked claws toward the unsuspecting creature. The sea turtle, sensing danger, turned its head to attack.

But as the saying goes, too slow; just as the old sea turtle was about to bite Huo Sining’s arm, she had already touched the shell a step ahead. Again, too slow; the sea turtle’s attack missed, and instead, Huo Sining captured it into her Spatial Storage Ring.

The moment the old sea turtle was swiftly secured by Huo Sining, the large rock that had been dominated by the turtle finally revealed its true form.

Only then did Huo Sining surprisingly discover that beneath the sea turtle’s shell, which had been pressing down on it, was hidden a giant clamshell, at least a meter long!

This massive clamshell was roughly triangular, with a curved top and wavy, bent edges, and it looked like a pair of closed, sensual lips.

The shell was grey, with several deep grooves on its surface like those made by a wagon wheel. It was exceptionally large, not to mention the shell was very thick and rough, with prominent radiating ribs and clear growth rings and ridges that formed curved overlaps on the shell’s surface.

The appearance of this shell wasn’t pretty; the color was a greyish-brown, hardly distinguishable from the color of the surrounding rocks. Had Huo Sining not encountered the giant turtle before, she might have passed by this patch of rocky reef without noticing such a large shell resting on it.

However, perhaps because the giant turtle had moved away, sensing that there was no longer a threat to its life, or perhaps it was drawn by the scent of the Spiritual Energy emanating from the Azure Pearl earlier, unable to resist the allure of the Spiritual Energy. In any case, not long after Huo Sining added the sea turtle to her Space, the giant mollusk that had been curled up inside its shell quietly began to open the two thick valves.

As the giant, sensuous lip of the shell opened bit by bit, it was as if a door to a new world opened for Huo Sining. Before her eyes appeared a kaleidoscopic vision. The mantle of the large shell revealed dazzling colors that were almost blinding, peacock blue, pink, emerald green, russet red, a confluence of patterns and colors encompassing nearly every conceivable hue in the world within this one shell.

The moment Huo Sining glimpsed inside the shell, she scoured her mind for every descriptive word she knew, only to find, in this moment of powerlessness, that she was at a loss for words. No term seemed capable of capturing the beauty of this shell; any description would be pale and inadequate.

For the shell was truly too beautiful! No words could fully and aptly describe it.

Huo Sining might not have been knowledgeable about marine products, but she recognized this giant shell. The moment it opened its valves, she suddenly remembered that this was the legendary King of Shells – the Tridacna.

Tridacna, a member of the mollusk phylum and the Bivalvia class in the ocean, is also the largest of the bivalve mollusks in the ocean and is known as the ”Giant Clam.” It can grow over one meter in length and weigh over 300 kilograms. It is primarily found in the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean, typically attaching itself to coral reefs with its byssal threads.

Laden with zooxanthellae within its mantle, Tridacna utilizes the crystalline structure within the membrane to concentrate light, which is why this giant clam can produce such a riot of brilliant colors.

But what enabled Huo Sining to recognize this shell wasn’t its massive size or its brilliant hues, rather, it was mentioned in a book on the basics of identifying antiques and oddities given to her by Zhou Shitao. The creature, famed along with coral agate, is considered one of the three great treasures of the ocean floor, a rare gem in the jewelry world.

Because of its large and thick shell, with the inner shell being white and glossy and the outer shell yellowish-brown, its most exquisite tail end is often cut and polished to make Buddha Beads and ornamental gems.

In ancient China, whether it was the royal family or nobility, all cherished ornaments made from Tridacna. ”Guangya - Explanation of Geography” also recorded, ”Shu Stone, Ruǎn, Agate, Tridacna... stones second only to jade.” In the eyes of the ancients, the value of Tridacna was second only to jade.

Especially within Buddhism, Tridacna was deeply beloved by many masters and believers. Aside from its use as decoration, colorful Tridacna beads, when worn, were also believed to ward off evil and ensure safety.

Furthermore, Tridacna also held medicinal value. In the realm of traditional Chinese medicine, the tail end of the Tridacna shell was thought to share the same healing properties as pearls due to its content of trace elements, conchiolin, and amino acids which have health benefits, promoting metabolism, anti-aging effects, and preventing osteoporosis.

It was unexpected that she had submerged into the ocean for less than an hour and had already encountered such a treasure. This stroke of good fortune left Huo Sining feeling both surprised and delighted.
