Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 766: Chapter 762: Hitch a Ride with the Wind

After retreating to a safe position, Huo Sining threw the stone in her hand forcefully into the jungle.

The stone fell into the jungle, making a rustling sound, and immediately drew the attention of the four bodyguards.

”Over there!”

Hearing the noise, the four bodyguards thought the target was hiding in the bushes and immediately chased after her into the jungle, gripping their pistols.

Fujiwara Seiho, believing the person hiding in the bushes planned to run, shouted, ”Shoot to kill, don’t let him escape!”

This time, Fujiwara Seiho spoke in Japanese, almost in a tone of frustration.

However, Huo Sining couldn’t bother to figure out the meaning of Fujiwara Seiho’s words; she stretched out her hand into the void and waved goodbye to Fujiwara Seiho and Jiang Qimei Eizi. Then, taking advantage of the moment the four men charged into the jungle, Huo Sining flipped over and jumped straight off the cliff behind her.

Great plumes of water sprayed onto the rocks, but the sound was drowned out by the waves, and because the cliff blocked their view, neither Fujiwara Seiho nor his companion realized someone had just jumped off the edge.

On the other side, the four bodyguards lured away by Huo Sining’s stone drew their pistols as they rushed into the jungle, but they didn’t manage to fire a single shot. Inside the jungle, they couldn’t see any trace of their prey, only managing to startle countless birds into flight.

The bodyguards felt suspicious. Logically, they were professionally trained, with top speed and vision; if someone had been hiding in the woods, there was no reason they couldn’t see them. Could this person possibly be a rabbit, with such incredible speed?

Staring blankly at the dense forest ahead, and beyond that lay the untamed jungle, full of unknowns, the bodyguards hesitated, exchanging glances with each other, uncertain.

Just as the bodyguards decided to continue the pursuit, they were stopped by Fujiwara Seiho’s call, ”Hirakawa, come back! Stop the chase!”

Fujiwara Seiho gazed coldly at the jungle, then down at the rocks at his feet, and snorted, ”We’ve been played! The footprints end here; they don’t lead to the jungle. That person was definitely here just now!”

As he said this, he looked down past the rocks towards the cliff behind them. But upon seeing the four-to-five-meter-high cliff and the turbulent tides below, confusion and suspicion filled Fujiwara Seiho’s eyes.

If that person was here just now, did they really just jump down from here? But wouldn’t that be even more suicidal for an ordinary person to leap into the sea from this spot?

This reasoning was not only incomprehensible to Fujiwara Seiho but also to the four bodyguards and the female assistant, they all found it unbelievable.

Nevertheless, as the Sect Master of the Iga-ryu clan, Fujiwara Seiho never deigned to explain himself to his disciples, and even if he were wrong, these people were not allowed to question him; to do so would be a great disrespect to the Sect Master.

Of course, Fujiwara Seiho couldn’t find a scientific reason to explain it, but in his heart, a strong intuition told him that the person they were searching for was definitely hiding just behind that reef, and that this person had absolutely escaped from this spot. As for why, he really couldn’t articulate the reason.

”Let’s go back and check. I refuse to believe this person can stay in the sea forever without coming out. Instruct the people at the wharf to keep a close watch; this person definitely came from Mindong Wharf. Have our men keep an eye out, and report back immediately at the first sign of anything unusual!”

Fujiwara Seiho glared hatefully in the direction where Huo Sining had disappeared. Only the tumultuous waves were visible; there was no sign of any person. Having no better method at hand, Fujiwara Seiho resignedly led his subordinates back home.

Huo Sining, after diving into the sea, finally turned the danger into safety. She let out a sigh of relief, but seeing that Fujiwara Seiho was willing to kill for the sake of obtaining the item, Huo Sining guessed that he would definitely not let the matter rest easily.

What puzzled Huo Sining was, what use were those Golden Lotus plants, that they were worth Fujiwara Seiho making such a big fuss?

Huo Sining was not foolish— the abundant Spiritual Energy emanating from the Golden Lotus had already aroused her suspicions. Although the Old Turtle was indeed old, he was not blind. When it came to those few Golden Lotus plants, that old creature seemed like it would swallow them whole given the chance. Now that Fujiwara Seiho had also come all the way from S City just for those few plants, Huo Sining’s concern was piqued.

However, these were just a few plants, after all. Aside from glowing, nothing else seemed extraordinary. Why was Fujiwara Seiho so nervous? Could there be something about them she didn’t know?

With that thought, Huo Sining couldn’t help but speculate, but after guessing for a while, she shook her head. It was impossible to figure out without any clues. Unless Fujiwara Seiho personally revealed the purpose of these items, Sining knew she might as well break her head trying but she would never come upon the answer.

If she couldn’t understand it, then so be it; she would just deal with it when she got back. Huo Sining was about to summon the Old Turtle to take her back to the wharf when she raised her head and saw a reasonably large yacht moored in the water not more than fifty or sixty meters from her.

Huo Sining was stunned for a moment, then instantly deduced that this yacht must undoubtedly be the vessel Fujiwara Seiho and his group used to come to this island.

The yacht was somewhat worn, appearing relatively luxurious on the inside, yet it didn’t compare to the size of the private yacht they rode when Zheng Huaqing took Huo Sining and Gu Xu out to sea for fishing in S City.

It seemed Fujiwara Seiho had come here on a covert operation, and with a murder case causing trouble, he certainly didn’t want to draw attention. Hence, he must have chosen such an inconspicuous yacht to avoid attracting too much notice.

As the people on the island walked back down the beach toward the yacht, the crew members initially left on the boat hurried out to meet them; no one paid attention to the other side of the ship. A cunning smile like that of a fox formed on Huo Sining’s lips as an idea seemed to shine before her eyes.

The most dangerous place could also be the safest. Her footprints on the beach had given her away, leading Fujiwara Seiho to find her, but no matter how smart or formidable Fujiwara Seiho was, he would never imagine she would be on his boat.

Though she had just escaped from the tiger’s den, and now she was about to enter the wolf’s lair, Huo Sining felt somewhat nervous, but the thought of catching a free ride on the boat and possibly hearing the secret of the Golden Lotus if luck was on her side, made her think the risk was worth taking.

So, while the ship’s crew was busy meeting Fujiwara Seiho and his group, Huo Sining stealthily climbed aboard the yacht from the sea.
