Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 296: Chapter 293: Confession!

”Does it look good?”

Gu Xu suddenly chuckled in a low voice, his tone carrying both pride and seduction, his demonic smile tinged with a chilling charm.

Huo Sining felt as if her blood were flowing backward, her face flushed red with a mix of embarrassment and confusion, while ripples of emotion uncontrollably spread through her heart.

Is there anything more embarrassing than being caught in the act of spying?

”Okay,”

Having massaged the ointment into Huo Sining’s bruised wrist completely, Gu Xu’s hand didn’t let go; instead, he lifted his head to look at Huo Sining.

His calm expression could even be described as warm. When he looked up at Huo Sining, his brown pupils were clear and pure, the dense shadows of his long lashes beneath, and his deep eyes, now shimmering with a scorching light, seemed to be trying to see right into her soul...

At that moment, under the night sky and the light, the man before her was so stunning it took one’s breath away.

Huo Sining’s heart fluttered in panic, and her gaze began to dodge.

Gu Xu didn’t miss the evasive look in Huo Sining’s eyes, and felt a faint sense of loss.

However, he was someone who once set on an objective, never looked back, and would not rest until his goal was achieved. He wouldn’t give up just because of Huo Sining’s slight avoidance; having fixed his mind on her, he wouldn’t change.

Thinking this, Gu Xu, as if by a magic trick, took out a stack of items from his shirt pocket, set them before Huo Sining, and began to explain, one by one:

”This is my salary card, this is my bankbook, the deed for my house in the Imperial Capital, and also the share certificates of Shengtang Group.”

Huo Sining looked on dumbfounded, at a loss as to what Gu Xu intended.

Gu Xu smiled, neatly stacked the items, and slowly placed them into Huo Sining’s hands:

”I’ve wanted to do this for a long time. Since the first time I saw you, I was attracted to you, but I never knew how to say it.”

”This is the first time I’ve confessed to a woman, and it should be the last time in my life. Although the gifts are common, they represent the most sincere thoughts in my heart.”

Huo Sining’s eyes widened instantly, looking in astonishment at the pile of cards and documents in her hands, completely stunned.

She stood there foolishly for a long while, only seeing the gold letters on the cards before her, while her mind was a blank.

Not just Huo Sining, but Gu Xu too, wasn’t he?

Seeing that Huo Sining didn’t accept the cards, he also became very anxious. This was the tip he got online from an expert, touted to be an assertive move that never failed, but it didn’t seem to be very effective!

Gu Xu nervously licked his lips, unable to speak like a flustered youth, stuttering as he continued:

”I’m entrusting all I have to you, hoping you would give me a chance.”

”Perhaps I’m not your ideal partner, or maybe I’m not perfect, but I promise, I will be the most loyal, the most loving one to you, my princess. I don’t know if you would allow me to be your knight for a lifetime?”

Huo Sining looked at the large stack of identification cards in front of her, her heart moved, but her patience was indescribably hesitant.

She didn’t dislike Gu Xu. On the contrary, in the little half year since her rebirth, although she had only met Gu Xu a few times, she was very clear about her fondness for Gu Xu. The subtle excitement he provoked in her was something she had never felt even when she dated Zhao Mingcheng in her previous life.

But... starting a relationship wasn’t so simple. Huo Sining knew very well that there was a considerable gap between her and Gu Xu. With Gu Xu’s outstanding qualifications, there were plenty of excellent girls in the Imperial Capital for him to choose a girlfriend from.

She remembered how, in her previous life, when she encountered Gu Xu and kissed him, that slap filled with disgust shook Huo Sining to the core and made her hesitate.

”Mr. Gu, we’ve known each other for too short a time, and I don’t know you well enough. This isn’t quite appropriate.”

Huo Sining found an excuse to try and change the subject.

Who knew that Gu Xu would look stunned for a moment upon hearing this, then rummaged through his pants pockets, pulling out two more IDs and handing them to Huo Sining:

”This is my ID card, and my military officer’s card.”

”My name is Gu Xu, 28 this year, currently the executive director of the Shengtang Group, in good health, with no bad habits.”

Huo Sining stared dumbfounded at the ID and military officer’s card in her hand.

All she wanted was to make an excuse—not expecting Gu Xu to be so straightforward, which didn’t seem to match his character at all.

She had dated and seen others date, but this was the first time she had seen someone prove themselves with their credentials and wealth. Gu Xu’s direct methods and words left her at a loss for words, her heart suddenly feeling stifled, and she didn’t know how to respond to Gu Xu.

Seeing Huo Sining not speaking, Gu Xu became anxious. After thinking for a bit, he hurriedly continued:

”My family is from the Imperial Capital; you probably already know that. I’m the second son at home. My brother and sister-in-law have a child, that’s the little kid downstairs. You’ve met my mom, too; she’s very satisfied with you. If you agree, I’ll take you home tomorrow to meet the rest of my family!”

Huo Sining: ...

This was completely off-topic; she felt she and Gu Xu were not on the same wavelength. Her concern was the gap between her and Gu Xu, whereas Gu Xu had already moved on to meeting her parents.

”You’re being too sudden. I’ve only just started college, and I wasn’t planning to settle down so soon in regards to relationships, you...”

”It’s okay!” Gu Xu immediately interrupted Huo Sining. The experts on the internet had said that pursuing a girl was a long process, depending on who was thicker-skinned and more persistent, ”You don’t have to put too much burden on yourself, no matter how long you take to consider, I can wait.”

Huo Sining was at a loss for words, looking at the eagerness and nervousness in Gu Xu’s eyes. For some reason, her heart felt inexplicably sour and soft, and she found herself unable to utter a word of refusal.

”I... Are you sure you’re serious?” Huo Sining said after a moment of silence, struggling to get the words out.

Gu Xu’s face lit up with surprise as he looked up, his eyes gleaming as he gazed at Huo Sining.

”Some things might be hard to accept when said out loud, but I still want to say it. I don’t intend to do meaningless things and waste time; once I’ve made a decision, I aim for marriage, not just fooling around,” Gu Xu said.

The reason Huo Sining had said this was because she had seen the scions of Prominent Clans treat relationships like a game, changing girlfriends more often than clothes.

Huo Sining did not want to experience the pain of breaking up after falling in love; it was too painful, and hurt both parties. If Gu Xu couldn’t commit, then it would be better not to start at all.
