Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 270: Chapter 267 Vice President

Li Quan bowed his head and kept apologizing profusely, but the nurse was somewhat unforgiving. Not only did she refuse to arrange Grandma Li’s surgery, but she also wanted to force Li Quan and his grandmother out of the hospital.

Huo Sining’s expression wasn’t good. In her previous life, because Xu Lian’s father had gastric cancer, she, as his niece, had no choice but to run around in the hospital. She couldn’t recall how much contempt she received from the nurses, just because they were poor and no one looked up to them, not even the doctors and nurses, who made things difficult at every turn.

Seeing Li Quan and his grandmother being treated this way in the hospital, she felt some anger welling up inside her, both for these so-called ”angels in white” and for Li Quan, who was now stooping and playing the dutiful grandson.

”People these days really have no shame. If you can’t afford a hospital stay, you have the nerve to squat in the stairwell. Our hospital has a conscience and doesn’t charge them for a hospital stay, and yet, he has the audacity to push his luck and even wants to save on surgery fees. Such shameless people, do they even deserve to live in this world!”

The nurse spoke with a vicious tone, and anger filled Li Quan’s eyes, yet he was utterly unable to retaliate.

After all, this nurse was an employee of the hospital, and Li Quan’s grandmother’s future surgery would depend on her arrangement. Li Quan dared not offend her, fearing she might find excuses to make things difficult or intentionally cause trouble during his grandmother’s operation.

But the nurse’s words were simply too unpleasant. Although Li Quan, a man with a typically thick skin, was finding it hard to respond after hearing her sarcastic remarks, his face involuntarily turned red then white, and he was at a loss for words for quite a while.

”Aren’t you leaving yet? Or should I call security to throw you out?”

The nurse was relentless. Huo Sining couldn’t stand it anymore, pulled Li Quan aside, and looked him straight in the eye to ask, ”How much money are you short?”

”Eh?” Li Quan didn’t quite understand.

Huo Sining gave him an annoyed glance, ”How much does your grandmother’s surgery cost?”

Li Quan didn’t catch Huo Sining’s implication but still reflexively said, ”Eighty thousand.”

Huo Sining nodded and said to Li Quan, ”Wait here for me.”

With that, she turned around, descended the stairs, and walked out of the hospital. Turning left out of the hospital’s main entrance, she didn’t go far before arriving at a bank.

Huo Sining had over a million in her account and had long since been upgraded to a VIP customer. When she arrived at the bank, she didn’t need to queue and went directly to the VIP counter to conduct her transaction.

In less than ten minutes, she had returned to Tongren Hospital. As she approached the hospital stairs, she heard a commotion.

Huo Sining quickly climbed the stairs and saw a crowd gathered at the entrance to the hallway, including security guards. In the center, Li Quan was holding Grandma Li, his face red with rage as he stared at the nurse, with people around trying to calm the situation.

”What’s going on?” Huo Sining hurriedly squeezed through the crowd to get closer.

Li Quan’s face was still full of anger, his hands clenched into fists:

”These security guards have no conscience. Considering my grandmother is so severely ill, they tried to throw her down the stairs to get her out! This is an elderly woman nearly at the age of seventy! Put yourself in their shoes, don’t you have elderly in your homes? How would you feel if your elderly relatives were treated this way in the future?”

Huo Sining was furious too upon hearing this. A hospital is a place for treating the sick and saving lives. Driving a patient out of the hospital was already greatly lacking in medical ethics, and now they were about to throw a defenseless old woman down the stairs - that was just too cruel!

Huo Sining’s impression of the hospital hit rock bottom. Thinking it over, she took out her phone and called Su Jinyuan: ”Brother Jinyuan, which hospital in S City has the best oncology surgery department?”

Su Jinyuan was startled, ”Of course, it’s Tongren Hospital, what are you asking for?”

Huo Sining was somewhat displeased and couldn’t be bothered to engage in useless talk with Su Jinyuan, ”Don’t ask, do you know anyone in the oncology department at Tongren Hospital?”

Su Jinyuan thought carefully and then said, ”I don’t know anyone in oncology, but I have a friend who works at Tongren Hospital. If you need, I can give you his number, and you can contact him yourself.”

”Good! Send me the number.”

Huo Sining hung up the phone and turned around to Li Quan, ”There’s no need to stick around here any longer, take your grandmother to another hospital. Let’s go!”

Li Quan was stunned, ”Transfer to another hospital? To where?”

Huo Sining didn’t hide anything and said indifferently, ”Tongren Hospital.”

”Pfff—”

As soon as Huo Sining said this, Li Quan hadn’t reacted yet, but the nurse who had been urging them to leave laughed as if she had heard the funniest thing in the world.

Huo Sining’s eyebrows furrowed slightly, and she turned to look at the nurse, ”What are you laughing at?”

The nurse, who was almost in convulsions from her laughter, pointed at Li Quan and said in a mocking tone, ”Him, thinking of going to Tongren Hospital? That hospital is where the rich get treated; would they let a penniless beggar like him in? Hahaha, it’s hilarious!”

As she spoke, the nurse held her stomach, laughing in an extremely exaggerated manner, while the surrounding patients, nurses, and security guards all looked at Huo Sining and the others with disdain and scorn.

Li Quan’s whole body was shaking, and Huo Sining, pushed to fury, managed a laugh instead. She strode forward and asked coldly, ”Who are you calling a beggar?!”

The nurse giggled and pointed at Li Quan, ”Isn’t it obvious? A man who can’t even afford the eighty thousand for surgery, who is too stingy to pay for a hospital bed, what is he if not a beggar? And now he has the nerve to say he wants to stay at Tongren Hospital, it’s laughably foolish. If you want to pretend to be something you’re not, don’t do it here. If you were really that rich, what were you doing earlier? Trying to put on a brave face with a swollen one is just embarrassing here, so I suggest you hurry up and get lost!”

Huo Sining kept silent, but turned around and took off the backpack she was carrying on her back and handed it to Li Quan, whispering, ”Count it.”

Li Quan’s expression turned to one of confusion; he didn’t understand what Huo Sining meant. However, just at that moment, Huo Sining’s phone suddenly rang.

The incoming call was from an unknown number. Huo Sining frowned, intending to hang up directly, but then a thought struck her mind, and she picked up the call.

”May I speak with Miss Huo Sining?”

Huo Sining asked with curiosity, ”This is Huo Sining. May I ask who it is?”

Laughter came from the other end of the phone, ”I am Zhang Kuiquan, Deputy Director of Tongren Hospital. Mr. Su told me you wanted to come to our hospital, may I know what this is about?”

Hearing the self-introduction of the Deputy Director, Huo Sining was taken aback. She thought that Su Jinyuan would ask some other department’s consulting physician for help, but she never expected he would get such a high-profile person involved.

”Deputy Director Zhang, it’s an honor to speak with you. I’m sorry to trouble you with a personal call. It’s about a friend’s grandmother who is being treated at the oncology department of the Fourth Hospital. She was about to have surgery, but there was a bit of an issue, and my friend wants to transfer hospitals. So, I wanted to ask if you might be able to help with the arrangements.”
