Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 276: Chapter 273 Friendship

Luo Jinzhi let Huo Sining order the dishes, and after a moment of polite refusal, Huo Sining didn’t hesitate to order two dishes that both she and Luo Jinzhi liked to eat.

Seeing Huo Sining’s natural expression, Luo Jinzhi breathed a sigh of relief in her heart, then she ordered a dish that she felt was presentable. She wanted to look further, but Huo Sining had already spoken to stop her.

”Just the two of us, no need to order too many dishes. It’d be a waste if we can’t finish them.”

Huo Sining knew that Luo Jinzhi didn’t earn money easily, and her family wasn’t wealthy. The fact that Luo Jinzhi could treat her to a meal already contained a lot of sentiment. As for what they ate, Huo Sining didn’t mind.

Having spent so much time with Luo Jinzhi, Huo Sining knew that Luo Jinzhi was straightforward and would say whatever was on her mind, so Luo Jinzhi didn’t insist.

While eating and chatting, Luo Jinzhi remembered that Huo Sining had once expressed her desire to visit the Mindong fishing village with her, so she took the opportunity to invite her:

”In half a month, the school will break for the holiday, and after the final exams, I’ll head back to Mindong. Do you have time? Why not come play in the fishing village with me for a while? If you’re not in a rush to go home, you could simply celebrate the New Year at my place, and I’ll take you out to sea.”

Huo Sining indeed had the desire to visit Luo Jinzhi’s hometown, but this winter vacation just wouldn’t be possible.

”Let’s do it another time. I’m not returning to Bashu for the New Year; I need to make a trip to the Imperial Capital to meet relatives, and I’m afraid I won’t be able to leave.”

Luo Jinzhi’s heart sank upon hearing this, but she quickly smiled and said, ”No problem, if you’re busy during the winter vacation, the summer break is also good. It’s cooler by the sea in the summer, and you can go diving, which is more fun than in the winter.”

Huo Sining nodded, ”Then let’s plan it for next summer break. You’ll have to be my guide then.”

Of course, Luo Jinzhi readily agreed. As they continued eating, Huo Sining suddenly remembered something and asked, ”I forgot to ask, how have you been living in the dorm? Those two haven’t been troubling you again, have they?”

Luo Jinzhi’s expression stiffened at the question, and she looked a bit uneasy.

The two people Huo Sining was referring to were naturally Du Yanlin and Xue Jingjing.

After Huo Sining had taught Du Yanlin a lesson, and although Huo Sining had come out victorious, those two women were not easy to deal with. With Huo Sining’s departure, the dormitory had naturally become their territory, making Luo Jinzhi’s situation there very awkward.

Du Yanlin and Xue Jingjing saw Huo Sining as a thorn in their side, but they were wary of her and did not dare to trouble her.

With Huo Sining gone, their resentment had nowhere to vent, so naturally, it was transferred to Luo Jinzhi.

Luo Jinzhi came from a rural background, and since she used to be close to Huo Sining, whom they couldn’t teach a lesson, they took out their frustrations on Luo Jinzhi instead.

Although Du Yanlin and Xue Jingjing were just students, they were not short on tricks, and in just a few months, they established their own group influence within the mathematics department.

Rumors are frightening. Through the word of mouth among women, Huo Sining’s reputation in the mathematics department was completely tarnished, and Luo Jinzhi, who was close to her, inevitably suffered collateral damage and was also ostracized by the other students.

Seeing the bitterness and hesitation in Luo Jinzhi’s expression, Huo Sining naturally thought of this possibility. Luo Jinzhi had a simple nature and none of those messy schemes; how could she compete with Du Yanlin?

No matter how you look at it, Luo Jinzhi was also affected by her, and she couldn’t help feeling somewhat remorseful in her heart.

She couldn’t help but sigh and said, ”Jin Zhi, next semester you should apply to live off-campus, move out and live somewhere else. I have plenty of space at my place, and if you don’t mind, you can stay there. It’s also close to the university and won’t delay your classes.”

Luo Jinzhi was stunned when she heard this and her face immediately turned bright red as she waved her hands repeatedly, ”No need, no need, I’m fine living at the university.”

Although she was not familiar with S City’s real estate market, Luo Jinzhi was not foolish. Huo Sining’s villa was located not far from S University and was the kind of property only the truly wealthy could afford. Huo Sining’s invitation to live with her was an honor, but Luo Jinzhi could not overstep her boundaries and take advantage of the situation.

Seeing Luo Jinzhi refuse, Huo Sining felt somewhat helpless. She knew Luo Jinzhi’s concerns, what she did not care about now, in Luo Jinzhi’s eyes, were luxuries completely out of her financial reach. Luo Jinzhi didn’t want to accept too many favors from her, certainly because she didn’t want to entangle their friendship with financial interests.

Since Luo Jinzhi was unwilling to live at her place, Huo Sining could only think of other solutions.

She was now on good terms with Gan Lijun and Qin Shaoyou, and on top of that, she had bred Huaxia’s red and white koi, a truly valuable thing, so it wouldn’t be a problem to apply for a better graduate single dormitory at the university.

Since she had no intention of staying on campus, she would let Luo Jinzhi move into the dormitory when the time came.

Huo Sining thought this was a good idea and stopped dwelling on the issue. The two of them chatted and laughed while eating. At that moment, a group of men and women suddenly walked into the restaurant. Huo Sining glanced up inadvertently and her expression soured.

Speaking of the devil, they were just talking about Du Yanlin and Xue Jingjing, and now the two women appeared.

Given her unfavorable impression of Du Yanlin and Xue Jingjing, Huo Sining naturally lost her good mood.

Whether it was fate or something else, at the moment Huo Sining looked up, Du Yanlin also spotted her sitting in the corner.

She was taken aback but did not show hostility. Instead, she continued to talk to the people beside her, glanced back at Huo Sining and Luo Jinzhi while walking to the private room, with an inscrutable expression on her face.

Huo Sining was somewhat surprised but did not think much of it. It was just a meal, after all. She had already cut ties with those two women, and now they were like water and oil, not mixing; she had no reason to keep fretting over it.

But Huo Sining was too naive. After she changed her department and didn’t live on campus anymore, she hardly had any chance to run into those two women because she would leave the campus right after classes, and she had no idea how frustrated those two had been over the past months.

Huo Sining might have ignored them, but they were not willing to let it go.

Over these few months, Du Yanlin was in a bad mood because she had compensated Huo Sining with five thousand yuan for the cosmetics.

Her family was financially strapped due to a relative’s surgery and hospitalization, and even her living expenses had been cut in half.

Moreover, in order to compensate Huo Sining for the cosmetics, she had borrowed money from classmates which led to her being in debt. Desperate, she had to find ways to make money.

Huo Sining could buy cosmetics from the counter, change her department, not live on campus just as she said, and Du Yanlin naturally envied, begrudged, and hated her, always hoping to find a shortcut to make money and suddenly become a rich person too.

What could a freshman just entering the university do to make money? Du Yanlin, unlike Luo Jinzhi, was not willing to tutor students to earn money the hard way. Everyone knew what few options that left.
