Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 258: Chapter 255: Almost Lost the First Kiss Chapter 258: Chapter 255: Almost Lost the First Kiss Azure Pearl?! How does this person have one too?

Huo Sining’s eyes widened as she covered her mouth, shocked speechless.

This is…

She instinctively reached out to touch it, but just as her hand was halfway there, suddenly another hand shot out, grabbing her wrist.

Huo Sining was startled and looked down to meet a pair of eyes calm as the vast black sea.

His eyes were deep and icy gray, seemingly slow but with just one glance, Huo Sining felt as if she were about to drown in an abyssal hole that gripped her soul.

“You’re awake?”

Huo Sining gave an embarrassed smile and awkwardly yanked her wrist out of the other person’s palm.

A flicker of surprise crossed the man’s eyes, and he suddenly noticed the Azure Pearl on Huo Sining’s forehead. He froze, then his eyes brightened with joy, and an excited smile spread across his lips.

“So, why is your pearl red—”

Huo Sining was eager to ask why his pearl was red, but before she could finish her question, the man disregarded the wounds all over his body, abruptly climbed up from the bed, and stood right in front of Huo Sining, his thin lips closing in on her.

Uh…

What’s this situation?

The moment she saw the man leaning in to kiss her, Huo Sining was dumbstruck. She wanted to dodge, but her mind went blank, and she froze in place, unable to move.

Seeing Huo Sining’s silly look, the man’s lips curved up, and his deep, tranquil eyes glittered with an unusual radiance.

“Clang—”

However, just at that moment, the cabin door was violently kicked open.

Seeing the intimate posture of the two inside the room, Gu Xu’s face darkened with anxiety.

Before one knew it, it was too late—Gu Xu couldn’t tell if he was more enraged or heartbroken, but he lost all control over his reason in an instant and rushed forward, throwing a punch at the man without saying a word.

Sensing the impending danger, the man’s eyes darkened and his figure flashed, easily dodging Gu Xu’s punch. The two clashed in a space less than ten square meters, fighting fiercely.

When Huo Sining came to her senses, she saw Gu Xu and the strange man brawling and immediately panicked.

“What are you two doing? Stop it this instant!”

At her words, Gu Xu paused and his eyes darkened. The man quickly let go of Gu Xu and retreated behind Huo Sining in a few steps, watching Gu Xu warily.

Turning around, Huo Sining saw the man bleeding from the corner of his mouth, and even his bandages were seeping blood. Already having lost a lot of blood, the man looked as if his wounds had torn open again due to the vigorous movement.

Huo Sining’s face instantly turned pale, no longer caring to ask the stranger why he had tried to kiss her moments ago. She anxiously tugged at the man, wanting to get him back on the bed to lie down: “Are you alright? Lie down and rest. You have so many injuries, and you still fought with someone. You’re really pushing it!”

The man’s glossy black eyes fixated on Huo Sining, his gaze burning beneath his thick eyebrows, the dark brown of his iris twinkling like bright stars.

“Kid, I advise you to behave yourself. I can save you once, I can also throw you back down.”

Seeing that the kid was still looking at Huo Sining with affectionate eyes, Gu Xu suddenly felt annoyed and couldn’t help but utter a threat.

Huo Sining was utterly speechless, and said to Gu Xu irritably, “He’s a seriously injured patient, and yet you have the heart to hit him! This is a man you jumped into the freezing water to save. If he were beaten to death, wouldn’t that have been a wasted effort?”

Previously, Gu Xu had been waiting outside without any intention of breaking in. But after a few minutes, he heard voices coming from inside the room and instantly knew that the stranger must have woken up.

Feeling a bit unsure, he couldn’t help but take a peek into the room.

Little did he know that this one glance would spell trouble, as he actually saw that man attempting to violate his future wife.

How could this be happening?! Seeing this scene, Gu Xu was immediately consumed with rage, his reason flung to the back of his mind. How could he think of anything else? He kicked the door open and charged in, ready to attack.

But what Gu Xu hadn’t expected was that Huo Sining didn’t seem to care whether he was hurt or not, but instead seemed to side with the stranger.

Gu Xu immediately felt a sullen gloom in his heart and grumbled, “He kissed you!”

Gu Xu’s face was full of self-justification, not feeling the slightest bit in the wrong.

While saying this, he was resentful and his tone involuntarily carried hints of accusation and grievance.

What a joke, that was his future wife, and he hadn’t even kissed those cherry lips. Who was this guy? Popping up out of nowhere with such disregard for the rules, daring to try to kiss his woman right in front of him, the man who saved his life. Was he tired of living?!

Thinking this, Gu Xu couldn’t help but glower fiercely at the man lying on the hospital bed, his gaze growing more hostile.

Hearing this, Huo Sining could only laugh and cry, “What nonsense are you talking about? Where did he kiss me? He was still far away.”

Emotions of hurt unwittingly showed in Gu Xu’s eyes, “He almost kissed you. If I hadn’t entered the room in time, you would have been kissed by him.”

That was a close call, his wife’s first kiss was almost gone! Gu Xu muttered to himself inwardly.

Huo Sining felt helpless, knowing that Gu Xu was worried and anxious about her, which made her feel a surge of warmth inside, “All right, I admit I should indeed thank you for just now. But how did you know I was here?”

Gu Xu’s expression froze momentarily, and he looked out of the window with a slight unnaturalness.

With an almost amused smile and seeing Gu Xu’s expression, a light bulb went off in Huo Sining’s head. Connecting all the recent events, she suddenly had an epiphany and came up with a possibility.

“Gu Xu, don’t tell me you like me?”

Huo Sining lifted her head and asked tentatively, her eyes firmly fixed on Gu Xu’s face, not missing any expression.

Upon hearing this, Gu Xu stiffened, his face flushed red in an instant, and he dared not lift his head to look at Huo Sining again, mumbling, “I have some things to take care of,” before turning tail and fleeing.

What was this rhythm? Huo Sining was utterly bewildered, realizing for the first time that Mr. Gu, who was always so aloof in her heart, could have such an immature side.

Seeing Gu Xu’s frantic escape, almost rushing into the wrong room, Huo Sining became even more certain of her guess.

While she chided herself for being dim-witted, she couldn’t help but bubble over with joy, the joyful bubbles in her heart rising incessantly, unstoppable.

“You like him?”

Just as Huo Sining was unable to contain her delight, the silent stranger lying on the bed suddenly spoke up.
