Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 272: Chapter 269: You Can’t Afford to Offend a Poor Person

Whispers of discussion rose around, everyone turned their gaze towards the nurse.

The nurse’s face turned from green to white, her face burning with humiliation, but she couldn’t utter a single word in explanation.

Huo Sining was well aware that hospitals operated this way, and Wu Qingyun’s attitude was nothing more than a show for her. While the old her might have chosen to keep the peace, this time she was determined to get a satisfactory resolution from Wu Qingyun.

Seeing that Huo Sining had not spoken, Wu Qingyun knew that this incident would not end amicably.

His heart was also aggrieved; the niece of Director Zhang, named Song Xiaoli, had gotten her position through nepotism.

Song Xiaoli did not take her work seriously at the hospital on regular days and only bullied colleagues and patients by leveraging Director Zhang’s reputation. There had been numerous complaints from nurses and doctors about her behavior.

But Director Zhang was a rare professor-level doctor in the oncology department, especially skilled in cranial surgery. It had not been easy or cheap for Wu Qingyun to recruit him to the hospital, and if he managed to anger Director Zhang to the point of resignation, the loss would be significant for Wu.

Thus, even if Director Zhang sometimes skipped work and Song Xiaoli behaved outrageously, Wu Qingyun turned a blind eye as long as they did not seriously violate the hospital’s principles, and he ignored everything else.

It was precisely Wu Qingyun’s attitude that further indulged Song Xiaoli’s increasingly unbridled lawlessness.

The so-called fear isn’t for a godlike opponent, but for a pig-like teammate. Song Xiaoli always judged people by their appearance, despising the poor and fawning over the wealthy.

In the past, this behavior had brought her countless benefits, which is why she was so self-satisfied and felt there was nothing improper with her actions.

However, the proverb ”The geese that one keep plucking will finally peck” rang true, as Song Xiaoli did not expect her invariably successful tactics to meet an immovable obstacle. Huo Sining might not be a major figure, but behind her, the Su Family in S City had significant clout, and even Wu Qingyun, the director of the hospital, had to tread carefully around them.

Naturally, anyone with a bit of sense would have taken good care of patients from their own hospital, potentially earning favor with the Su Family. But now, somebody had spoiled such an excellent opportunity to curry favor with the Su Family and instead offended them.

The more Wu Qingyun thought about it, the angrier he felt, inwardly cursing Song Xiaoli, who was nothing but a hindrance, a rat’s droppings spoiling the soup.

”Alright, there’s no need for explanations. You can go to the finance department later to settle your wages,” he said.

Wu Qingyun understood what Huo Sining meant. If he didn’t deliver a satisfactory outcome today, he would truly offend both her and the Su Family she represented.

Wu Qingyun wouldn’t jeopardize his relationship with the Su Family for such an insignificant nurse like Song Xiaoli. ”Every man for himself, and the Devil takes the hindmost.” At this moment, he was ready to sacrifice Song Xiaoli without a second thought for Director Zhang’s feelings.

Moreover, Wu Qingyun was confident that Director Zhang wouldn’t dare to make a scene. The person Song Xiaoli had offended was not someone minor, and even Director Zhang probably did not dare to stir up trouble openly.

Song Xiaoli thought at most Wu Qingyun would give her a warning or deduct a month’s salary, but she never expected him to actually fire her, leaving her completely stunned.

Although she was just a nurse at the Fourth Hospital, she had a high salary with her uncle backing her. She often shirked her overtime duties onto others, and it could be said that there wasn’t a nurse in the oncology department with less work than her.

Moreover, her uncle had promised her that if she could endure three years in the oncology department, he would find a way to make her the head nurse. Then, she would be directly transferred to the deluxe ward of the inpatient department to provide high-level care.

Song Xiaoli understood her uncle’s intention well, knowing that there were many wealthy patients in the deluxe ward. If she did her job well and caught the eye of one of those wealthy people, she could soar from the branches and transform into a phoenix.

Consequently, Song Xiaoli was incredibly self-satisfied, seemingly as if in the next moment she was going to marry into a wealthy family and become a lady of leisure. With such an attitude, she naturally looked down upon the poor and disdained serving them.

However, she could never have imagined that it was precisely this attitude that led her to offend Huo Sining and ultimately cost her the job.

When Song Xiaoli snapped back to reality, she was both embarrassed and furious, her face flushed a deep red, her eyes filled with venomous resentment as she looked at Huo Sining.

She hated Wu Qingyun, she hated Li Quan, and she despised Huo Sining even more for costing her the job.

But what good did hate do? Just as Song Xiaoli had used her uncle’s position to oppress patients and bully colleagues, Huo Sining was merely giving her a taste of her own medicine, wielding the power and wealth that Song Xiaoli coveted most.

Huo Sining wasn’t usually one to bear a grudge, but this time, she truly took advantage of her position to bully someone. Song Xiaoli hated Huo Sining, but she didn’t dare to fight back.

Even if she was not the brightest, Song Xiaoli could plainly see that the girl before her was clearly not just any rich young lady, given that even Wu Qingyun, the hospital director, was trying to curry favor with her. With such strong backing, this was not someone whom an ordinary person like her could afford to offend.

Right as Wu Qingyun was dealing with Song Xiaoli, the ambulance from Tongren Hospital had already arrived at the entrance of the inpatient department, and Zhang Kuiquan called to inquire about Huo Sining’s floor before hurrying up with a stretcher and a few people.

The attendance of the deputy director of Tongren Hospital was not only a surprise to Huo Sining but also left Wu Qingyun and Song Xiaoli gawking.

Huo Sining exchanged greetings with Zhang Kuiquan and without further delay asked the medical staff to lift Grandma Li onto the stretcher.

However, after taking a few steps, she suddenly paused and looked back at Song Xiaoli, a slight smile playing on her lips as she said indifferently, ”Nurse Song, I hope you remember today’s lesson. Not every poor person is someone you can bully!”

With her lips tightly pressed, Song Xiaoli glared at Huo Sining, her face turning even darker in an instant.

Huo Sining smiled and shrugged nonchalantly before leaving the Fourth Hospital with the medical staff of Tongren Hospital.

Tongren Hospital was quite efficient. Just as Grandma Li left the Fourth Hospital, a room and special care had already been arranged. Upon her admission, she had undergone a full set of examinations, and by the afternoon, when the results came out, a group of expert professors decided to proceed with the surgery the next day.

Huo Sining handed over the one hundred thousand yuan from her backpack to Li Quan without saying much and then turned to leave.

With Zhang Kuiquan intervening, Grandma Li’s surgery and hospital stay required no worries on her part. Yet, before she reached the door, Li Quan chased after her and stopped her.

”Miss Huo!”

Li Quan came running, gasping for breath, his eyes filled with reverence and brimming with gratitude as he looked at Huo Sining.
