Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 271: Chapter 268: Isn’t it Just Money?

Zhang Kuiquan breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this and promptly agreed, ”That’s not a problem. I’ll arrange it right away, We’ll get the elderly patient a ward and schedule surgery as fast as we can. Are you at the hospital now?”

”Yes.”

”Well, wait there for a while, and I’ll arrange for a car to come pick you up.”

Zhang Kuiquan’s attitude was very friendly, and he thought everything through so thoroughly that it overwhelmed Huo Sining.

However, thinking of the Su Family’s background and strength, Huo Sining somewhat understood. It seemed that this Deputy Director Zhang either needed Su Jinyuan’s help or owed a favor to the Su Family.

After hanging up the phone, Huo Sining’s heart, which had been in her throat, finally settled down. She looked up at Li Quan and said, ”The car from Tongren Hospital will come to pick us up shortly. They’ve also arranged a hospital bed for us, and they’ll schedule your grandmother’s surgery as quickly as possible, don’t worry!”

Upon hearing this, Li Quan froze. He swallowed subconsciously, a mix of curiosity and disbelief in his voice as he asked, ”It’s arranged just like that? Who was on the phone with you just now?”

Huo Sining smiled and said, ”Deputy Director Zhang Kuiquan of Tongren Hospital.”

”Ah?” Li Quan was dumbfounded. Initially, he had only seen Huo Sining as an ordinary college girl, but now hearing her talk with such grandiosity, he was instantly shook.

Even the Deputy Director of Tongren Hospital could be commanded by her– just who was she?

It wasn’t just Li Quan who was taken aback; many others in the room also focused their attention on Huo Sining.

Over there, a nurse who had been trying to make her presence felt was also startled. She then laughed sarcastically,

”What’s the use of pretending? Deputy Director of Tongren Hospital– you really know how to give yourself gold stars. As if the Deputy Director, with so much on his plate, would have time to call you. I think you’re sleepwalking and haven’t woken up yet! Anyone can spin tall tales, but if you have the guts, show us the money. Without money, even if it were the Deputy Governor here, no one would treat you!”

Huo Sining’s lips curled, and she raised an eyebrow, ”What if I do take it out?”

The nurse was convinced Huo Sining and the two with her were penniless country bumpkins, ”If you can take it out, of course I’ll arrange the surgery for her. If not, get lost!”

Huo Sining laughed at this, ”It seems you win either way. If I take it out, we’ll still be getting treated here and let you make money, and if I can’t, we have to leave. Who made such a rule? Are we just going to let it slide that you insulted people as beggars just now? Don’t you have even an apology to say?”

The nurse’s face turned sour when she heard Huo Sining’s words, and she retorted coldly, ”Arguing with me is pointless. Show me the money. If you can take out the 80,000 yuan for the surgery, I’ll naturally apologize!”

That’s exactly what Huo Sining was waiting for. She smiled, turned around, and said to Li Quan, ”Open the backpack!”

Li Quan did as told and began to unzip Huo Sining’s backpack, but he was startled again when he saw its contents, his eyes filled with disbelief.

”Take it out and show the nurse. It’s just money, right? We’ve got plenty!”

For the first time, Huo Sining felt that being rich was quite good. Against those who are harsh and snobbish, the best response is to knock them out with money, showing them the consequences of looking down on others!

Li Quan hesitated before he began taking out stack after stack of Chairman Mao’s, brand new red banknotes piled up into ten stacks. His hands trembled as it took nearly a minute to take out all 100,000 yuan from the backpack.

In that moment, the words the nurse was about to say got stuck in her throat and she swallowed them back.

Everyone else was dumbfounded as well.

As the saying goes, ”Everyone fights for their breath, even Buddha argues for a stick of incense.” Even knowing the money wasn’t his, at that moment, Li Quan knew he had turned things around. The gloom that once clouded his face had been swept away, and he looked at Huo Sining with a beaming smile.

”What do you think, Miss Nurse? Should this be enough money?” Huo Sining turned and raised an eyebrow with a smirk toward the nurse.

Weren’t they saying the patient had no money for the surgery? With this move, Huo Sining took out a hundred thousand, entirely a slap in the face.

The place went silent, the nurse, with a darkened face, did not utter a sound. Huo Sining laughed and asked, ”What, you won’t acknowledge what you said just a moment ago? Your memory is so bad, that’s a disease that needs early treatment. Otherwise, it won’t take many years before you’re down with dementia.”

”You!”

The nurse was choked by Huo Sining’s words. Pointing at Huo Sining, she cursed furiously,

”You lowlife, don’t get smug! It’s just some filthy money, right? Let me tell you, my uncle is the head of the oncology department. Cross me and you’ll regret it. If you want to perform surgery on this old geezer, it also depends on whether I agree!”

”Depends on whether you agree? How come I didn’t know that a mere nurse from this hospital had such great authority?”

The nurse was still reveling proudly in her status when suddenly, a cold laugh from behind her struck like a bolt from the blue, almost causing her to lose her balance.

”The... The director?!”

When the nurse turned around and saw the person standing at the entrance of the corridor, her face turned ghostly pale, and she trembled uncontrollably, unable to speak a full sentence.

The newcomer was none other than the director of the hospital, Wu Qingyun.

Seeing Wu Qingyun’s livid face, the nurse felt an overwhelming sense of panic. She hadn’t expected Director Wu to be standing behind her, nor did she know how much of the scene he had just witnessed.

At this thought, she involuntarily bit her lip and looked up at Huo Sining with resentful eyes.

But the director didn’t spare her a glance, walking straight up to Huo Sining, ”You must be Miss Huo Sining, right?”

Huo Sining nodded, ”And you are?”

Wu Qingyun felt a surge of joy and said with a smile, ”Hello Miss Huo, I am Wu Qingyun, the director of the hospital. Is your friend scheduled for surgery this afternoon? I will make arrangements immediately and ensure the best clinical surgeon—”

At these words, a sarcastic smile tugged at the corner of Huo Sining’s mouth. She interrupted Wu Qingyun, ”No need, Director Wu. We’ve decided to transfer to Tongren Hospital. There’s no need for you to trouble yourself here.”

Director Wu’s face stiffened for a moment, and he said a bit awkwardly, ”I am truly sorry. Because a staff member abused their power behind the scenes, your friend received unfair treatment here. Rest assured, I will handle the matter fairly.”

Huo Sining hummed indifferently, her gaze falling on the nurse for a moment. The nurse, terrified by the attention, trembled and lost her previous arrogance.

Director Wu was adept at reading people. Seeing this, his gaze sharply fell on the nurse, filled with fury and questioning:

”So you are Director Zhang’s niece? At our hospital, we always put patients first. It’s the consulting doctors’ business to schedule surgeries for their patients, and now it needs your approval? This is quite new to me. Where does a nurse get the power to make such unilateral decisions? Can you give me a reasonable explanation for this?”
