Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 289: Chapter 286 Huo Sining’s Request

Before Huo Sining could speak, two more people rushed in from outside. One of them kicked Liu Ming twice and cursed, ”You blind fool, who told you to arrest people randomly?!”

Startled by this sudden turn of events, Huo Sining’s eyes showed her confusion. She couldn’t help but grumble to herself, who is this anyway, barging in so rudely and hitting someone as soon as they arrive?

One of the two was a large-bellied man dressed in a neat suit, hair parted down the middle, who approached Huo Sining and Gu Xu:

”You must be Mr. Gu and Miss Huo. Hello, I am the Director of the S City Police Department, my name is Fu Yuanshan. The incident today was due to our team’s lack of thorough investigation, which caused inconvenience to both of you. I am here to apologize to you,” he said.

”Look, the situation has escalated to this point, and it wouldn’t be good to keep this going. How about this, it’s getting late and I presume you haven’t had a proper dinner. Why don’t we go to the nearby Ruyi Tower and talk over dinner? We can discuss how to deal with this matter afterward. What do you think?”

Huo Sining realized, this must be Director Fu, the one who just called Luwan District’s office. It seemed that the other person who rushed in and started punching was probably the station chief here.

”There’s no need for dinner, we just want to see the result. Handle today’s incident however you see fit. We are not unreasonable people. As long as Captain Liu invites the other parties involved, deal with it as it should be dealt with,” Huo Sining insisted.

Impatience also flickered in Gu Xu’s eyes. All these people had nice words to say, but why wasn’t there a single one who was practical?

”The other parties involved? What do you mean?”

Director Fu was still in the dark on the other side, and upon hearing Gu Xu’s comment, he looked puzzledly at Liu Ming.

He only knew that Liu Ming had arrested several people today, and soon calls from military, political, and police authorities in the Imperial Capital began coming in to inquire about the situation, each call more critical than the last. It didn’t stop there: even Secretary Su had called to demand a release.

Director Fu had been preoccupied with hurrying over to manage the situation and had no time to investigate the details. It was only upon Gu Xu’s words that he realized there was more to the story.

This tactless Liu Ming had offended some high-ranking official and created a mess, implicating everyone else in the process.

Director Fu was inwardly furious and couldn’t help but glare at Liu Ming with angry eyes.

He thought to himself, if you didn’t want to stay, you could have just packed up and left; why bother creating such a big issue for the rest of us who have struggled for years to reach our positions?

”It seems Captain Liu hasn’t made the details of the incident clear to Director Fu. It’s actually not a big deal. My classmate and I were eating at the snack street when a person named Brother Biao, along with two of his men, insisted I accompany them for drinks. After being rejected by me, he intended to get physical, and then Mr. Gu stepped in to help me, handling this Brother Biao. Soon after, Captain Liu arrived, accusing us of fighting and bringing us here to the station,” explained Huo Sining.

With a half-smile, Huo Sining suddenly exclaimed, ”Oh, I forgot to mention, amongst us, Brother Biao and the other two who wanted to take action against me, Captain Liu didn’t invite them to make a statement.”

”Miss Huo, are you suggesting...” Director Fu was somewhat at a loss with these young ladies’ thoughts, especially since this one was Secretary Su’s niece, whom he dared not offend. He could only serve her attentively, hoping her demands would not be too excessive.

Huo Sining replied indifferently, ”My request is very simple: have that Brother Biao explain to me in person the reason why he specifically targeted me to accompany him for drinks. As long as he issues a sincere apology, I will let bygones be bygones!”

”This...” To be fair, the request was truly trivial, and it completely caught Director Fu off guard. However, he was still uncertain because another person present had an even more significant status than Huo Sining.

Gu Xu guessed what Fu Yuanshan was thinking and didn’t hesitate to take over, ”Miss Huo’s request is my request.”

With that, Fu Yuanshan understood and, without another word, turned toward Liu Ming who was cowering like a turtle and said angrily:

”What are you standing there for? Go find that ’Brother Biao’ right now! Do you expect me to look for him?!”

Liu Ming responded with a yes, turned around, left the room, and shakily took out his phone to call Huo Biao, but after several attempts, the line was busy.

Cold sweat broke out on Liu Ming’s forehead as he was panicking. Eventually, having no other choice, he dialed his uncle’s number.

The phone rang several times before Hu Changlin’s voice came through, ”Mingzi, what’s up?”

”Big Uncle...”

Liu Ming didn’t even know where to start with this situation; he had been counting on his big uncle for a promotion and a raise.

But now he clearly understood—if the situation wasn’t resolved satisfactorily, Huo Sining definitely wouldn’t let him off.

It might even involve his big uncle, especially since he had previously used Hu Changlin’s identity to threaten that woman surnamed Huo.

”If you’ve got something to say, say it quickly. I’m busy over here. Today there was a big incident, and I don’t know which blind bastard in the police department messed up. They arrested a tough guy, and we still haven’t figured out where he’s holed up. Now a bunch of us are caught up in this mess!”

Hu Changlin became impatient as Liu Ming couldn’t get a word out.

When Liu Ming heard Hu Changlin say ”blind bastard,” his face turned beet red and it took him a while to muster up the courage to say, ”Big Uncle, I am that person.”

Hu Changlin’s voice paused on the other end of the phone, and after taking a deep breath, he said, ”What did you say?”

”Big Uncle, I mean I’m the one who arrested the wrong person. But now I can’t get in touch with Huo Biao. Please help me think of something, otherwise, it’s not just me who’s in big trouble today—it will be you, too.”

Liu Ming’s voice was almost tearful when he said this. Huo Biao had provoked two big shots, and now that bastard had gone into hiding, leaving him with this mess to deal with.

Having no other choice, Liu Ming explained the entire situation and its implications.

”Didn’t I tell you not to mix with that Huo surnamed person? A single shop has clouded your judgment, and at such a critical time, how could you be so stupid?! I really want to slap you dead!”

Hu Changlin was so angry he felt like his lungs would explode; his hand clenched the phone tightly. He really wanted to just hang up the phone and wash his hands of it all, but the person on the other end was his sister’s husband. Could he just abandon him like that?

Despite saying that, he still dropped a ”Wait!” and without another word, headed toward Luwan District.
