Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 281: Chapter 278: Thorny Idea

Liu Ming sneered coldly upon seeing this and with a slap, pulled out a police gun from his waist, saying fiercely, ”Take him away. If anyone dares to arrest, I’ll cripple them first!”

Seeing the police pull out their guns, the onlookers who were originally watching the commotion inside the shop were suddenly frightened, gasping for air and subconsciously taking a few steps back.

Throughout Gu Xu’s many years of military training, it had always been him pointing a gun at others, and nobody had ever dared to blatantly point a gun at him like this.

This Liu Ming was just a police officer from a small station, yet he had casually drawn his gun, instantly darkening Gu Xu’s expression.

This situation violated two of Gu Xu’s taboos. First, as public servants, police officers in principle should not use force against the common people, yet Liu Ming had drawn his gun without any provocation; second, Liu Ming was too reckless, daring to draw a gun on Gu Xu, which was like lighting a candle in a cesspit—asking for death!

Once Gu Xu’s temper flared, he didn’t say another word and landed a kick, sending the gun flying.

Liu Ming, still holding the gun, hadn’t even reacted when Gu Xu lunged forward with a step and, with an iron fist, grabbed the hand that Liu Ming used to hold the gun and squeezed hard.

”Ah——”

A scream sounded, followed by a crisp crack, as Liu Ming’s hand was crushed out of shape, with who knows how many bones shattered inside.

This sound instantly sent chills down the spines of two other police officers present, changing the way they looked at Gu Xu.

Gu Xu’s gaze was like that of a tiger released from its cage, as if to say, anyone who dares to move next, this will be their fate just like Liu Ming’s!

No one dared to make another move. It was a joke; this man simply squeezed, breaking the team leader’s hand, and yet, he stood there without changing color or losing his breath, as if he hadn’t heard the sound, like nothing was wrong—a heart too cold and ruthless!

Police are human too, they fear pain, and besides, many of today’s public servants fear death more than life, blathering about nothing when there’s no trouble, hiding when there is. Faced with this kind of danger, the first thing they think about is definitely not to charge forward, but how to save their own skin.

Gu Xu’s actions scared off many people, even Du Yanlin, Xue Jingjing, and Zhu Jianliang, who had been waiting to watch the excitement, turned pale and silent as a cicada in winter.

Meanwhile, Old Granny Gu laughed heartily from behind, calling out to Gu Xu, ”Son, who did you learn that move from? It works so well! Don’t forget to teach your mom when we get back!”

”Uncle is so awesome, he can even beat up the police uncle!” Little Bun also played the part of the cheerleader, looking up with admiration and endless praise.

Upon hearing this, Huo Sining instantly felt a wave of darkness as crows flew by in his vision.

This family always seems to be on a different wavelength from others. Gu Xu just assaulted a police officer, and yet this grandfather and grandson are so cheerful. Do they not think the situation is big enough yet?

”Son, although we are in the right, assaulting a police officer seems a bit too much,”

After a few seconds, Old Granny regained her senses, thought of something, and spoke somewhat embarrassingly, ”Your father doesn’t know I came out. If he finds out we’re making trouble here, he’s sure to scold me.”

Gu Xu glanced at Old Granny, then at the increasingly large crowd of onlookers, and nodded, ”Then let’s keep a low profile. They invited us to the police station, didn’t they? Let’s go turn ourselves in.”

The suggestion to turn themselves in was said as if it had nothing to do with him. Gu Xu smiled indifferently, bent down to pick up Liu Ming’s fallen gun and put it back into Liu Ming’s holster at his waist, before turning around with a smile, ”Which one of you two is driving?”

The two police officers were taken aback, but without further explanation, Gu Xu took the lead and walked outside, followed by the Old Granny and Huo Sining, who was holding Little Bun. The group of four then boarded the police car.

Only then did the two police officers come to their senses. Liu Ming, whose fingers had been crushed, face grim, clenched his teeth and gave the beat cops a meaningful look, saying, ”Xiao Zhang, you go drive, I’ll notify the chief!”

The beat cop named Xiao Zhang weighed the situation and decided Liu Ming’s suggestion made sense.

This trouble was too much for just the three of them to handle; they’d be better off returning to the station. Once they were on their home turf, they could do as they pleased with the situation.

The young beat cop hurried out of the restaurant’s door and, seeing that Gu Xu’s group had gotten into the police car, feared that Gu Xu would pull some trick again. He quickly closed the car door, locked it, and then drove off at breakneck speed.

Right at this moment, Huo Sining’s cell phone suddenly rang. Huo Sining answered the call, and on the other end, Su Qingqing exclaimed dramatically, ”Ningning, come and get rid of your stupid dog. It’s guarding the door, and I can’t even get in!”

Heitan had become increasingly good at guarding the door. It only recognized three people on its turf—Huo Sining, Master Huang, and Auntie Li, along with that little Jingba. If any other creature approached, it would immediately sniff out the unfamiliar scent and, with the speed of lightning, block their path, adopting an attitude of private property, no trespassing.

Tibetan Mastiffs are inherently ferocious, and since Huo Sining had not filed its teeth, the creature indeed looked rather intimidating. Fearing accidents, Huo Sining had even installed an iron gate to enclose the villa’s yard, to prevent the dog from running out and causing harm.

Fortunately, although Heitan was fierce, after Huo Sining’s Spiritual Energy grooming, its intelligence surpassed that of an average dog considerably. It understood many of Huo Sining’s commands; if told not to leave the yard, it wouldn’t venture out unless Huo Sining brought it along. On any given day, it would absolutely stay in the yard, not stepping out even if the door were open.

Hearing Su Qingqing’s shriek, Huo Sining was somewhat surprised, ”You’re outside my house? Is there something wrong?”

On the other end, Su Qingqing hopped about in frustration: ”Nothing’s wrong. I just wanted to crash at your place tonight. Aren’t you at home?”

Huo Sining laughed softly, ”No, I’m out. Have Great Uncle open the door for you.”

”Oh,” Su Qingqing, ever so carefree and not overthinking, replied, ”Alright, I’ll go in first. I noticed you didn’t drive out, so should I come pick you up when you return?”

”No need, I’m not sure when I’ll be finished here. If I don’t come back tonight, don’t wait up for me.”

Huo Sining often went out at night to bring wild seafood to the Xianyu Shop, so Su Qingqing wasn’t suspicious.

Once inside, Master Huang chuckled, ”Oh, it’s you. I thought it was Si Ning coming back.”

Without thinking much, Su Qingqing asked casually, ”Where has Ningning gone?”

”Seems like a classmate invited her out for dinner, just at a restaurant outside the school. This meal sure is taking a long time; it’s already so late, and she hasn’t come back yet,” Master Huang murmured unconsciously.

Upon hearing this, Su Qingqing was taken aback. Mulling it over, she began to sense that something was amiss.

Going out to a meal with a classmate, which classmate? If it was at the restaurant near the school’s entrance, that was only a few hundred meters from the villa. How come she hadn’t come back by night?

And just now on the phone, she thought she had also heard the sound of a police siren. It was so loud, as if it were right next to her ear!
